I was coming through around 9PM at night and was tired and hungry for something other than fast food or gas station pizza. I drove by this place and determined that it was the best choice for the area. I wanted a steak. The only choice was a rib-eye. Not my favorite cut, but it is what I ordered. I expected a wangy steak that I would be gnawing on for the next hour, but it was fantastic! Great flavor and texture! I ordered rare, but received medium rare.(I prefer medium rare but always go under for first time experiences.) The roll was very soft and huge. The fried greens were fantastic. I am very picky on my greens, and would order them again in a heartbeat. The spaghetti was angel hair. The portion was huge, but I would have rather sent the spaghetti back and had another steak or two. Not a pasta junkie, so to me spaghetti is spaghetti. I would guess that there was over two pounds of it taking up space on my plate. I was seated in the back corner. Not very busy at that time of night, so I did not mind the quiet. The server was slow to get me started, but once I ordered, service was great. The benches were a bit uncomfortable after a day of driving, but the food made up for it!

Very unfriendly service. Food was decently seasoned, but portion size is too large. The salad offered with the entrée is mixed greens, stale bread crumbs and a house vinaigrette. The loaves of bread, although grand in size, were presented cold, along with hard-to-spread chilled butter. Pasta was swimming in water. Waitress never refilled water. In fact we barely saw her. Our entrée arrived after having finished only half of our salads. We also ordered an appetizer, and that came with the salad, instead of beforehand. In a town recently taken over by chain restaurant after chain restaurant, it would be appreciated if the local establishments put forth more effort. Combine Bros, I’ve been eating at your place since I was a small girl, but no more.

I went here yesterday with my mom Elizabeth and her friend Lauren. We call ourselves E.E.L., which stands for Evan, Elizabeth, And Lauren. We our a new food reviewing trio. We we first got there at 5PM, they said the wait was 30 minutes, and almost exactly 30 minutes later we got seated. This is the first time Lauren and I ever been here. My mom used to come here occasionally but hasn’t been here in 10 years or so. When we got seated, of course we immediately got asked what we wanted to drink. Lauren and I got Coca-Cola and my mom got a Diet Coke. About 10 minutes later or so we ordered Fried Greens as our appetizer and we each got the same entrée, Fettuccine Alfredo With Sautéed Scallops. About 5 minutes after that we got these HUGE rolls that were so warm and soft. And salads that were simple being made of only lettuce and croutons but the homemade raspberry vinaigrette made it delicious. About 10 minutes later we got the Fried Greens appetizer which were nice and hot and very moist and also had a nice spice to them, I would get them again! Then finally about 10 minutes later we got our 3 entrées that were HUGE! I ate half of it yesterday and just finished the rest today! It’s great if you love having left overs to bring home! When we got our entrées I ordered us 2 slices of the best chocolate cake with mile high icing I have ever had. The icing was chilled and the texture was like in between icing and ice cream it was absolutely amazing! I have nothing bad at all to say about this restaurant! It is so definitely worth the 30 – 45 minute wait! You won’t regret it! We each had a bag full of food to go home! I had my Alfredo and 2 rolls to go also with the rest of my cake, My mom had her Alfredo and 2 rolls to go, and Lauren had her Alfredo, the rest of her cake, a slice of cake for her son, and 2 rolls to go. The presentation of everything was great and neat, The taste of everything was absolutely delicious, and the temperature of everything was just perfect! 5 stars and I recommend that you come here if you are in the area! The bill was $ 95 was the 3 of us but oh so worth it!

A hard rating to give because the dinner entrees are outstanding. That said, the service is iffy and spotty — some staff can be grumpy. The dinner rolls are as big as your head but lack taste and edibility(yeah, they are hard to eat). Overall the food makes it worth repeat visits and the local feel and flavor make it worthy of better — just need a little better waitstaff.

Large portions of average pasta, large rolls and salad that is just sliced lettuce and a few crotons. I will say the food isn’t bad nor good. We just have a lot more options with better fresher tasting pasta in the area Server was good however and kept asking us if we needed a nothing service is five stars

Sat at the bar by myself, bartender was nice. A few tvs to keep me busy, appreciate that. Salad came out and was disappointed. Very basic cheap lettuce with 5 croutons. Dressing was alright, little pinching for my taste. I ordered the pink pepper sauce carbonara on the specials list, delicious but spicy! I recommend asking about your level spice enjoyment and what they have on the menu.

While traveling I use Unilocal to find places to eat… Unilocal did not disappoint! Thank you to all those writing reviews! It is so helpful! The portions are very large, and the food is very good! Great sauce and salad and those rolls!!! OMG! I have leftovers for lunch today and can’t wait to eat them! The waitress was extremely helpful when I wasn’t sure how and what to order and she did me right! Oh and one more thing, our bill was small compared to the food we ate! Thanks again Combine Brothers! We will be back when we are coming through the area again!!!

This place is massive confusion with a hostess who was working this evening, who had a snippy, short curt attitude! She stated that they were filled with a waiting/standing at 5:00PM. really? she never offered a cold Beverage or a place to wait… this place needs a training In customer Service and peoples skills. as a matter of fact, I was asked to write an article About this restaurant in a Chicago/travel magazine which specializes in western Pa. Restaurants off the beaten path. we had people to, be seated, Decided to, walk out and go, to another local, establishment which we will be Giving 5 stars… This is unacceptable treatment. this restaurant needs to Look at their hostesses and staff! very disappointing! DO not waste your Time or money!

Unilocal comes through again. Drove to Hermitage from DC. Never been here before. Picked Combine Brothers and was very happy. Local place, cute interior, good home-made pasta sauces. Huge portions. Large selection of beer.

This is a ‘Must Stop’ when we drive up from Pittsburgh heading to our summer place in Jamestown and we’ve never been disappointed. The wait can be a little long but we don’t mind eating at the bar so we give them our name then troll the bar looking for a couple open seats. We always get them. :) Their Friday beer special is a domestic beer of the day, in an ice tub, for $ 2. How can you beat that??? Well, you can order any other domestic 16oz draft for $ 2.25, that’s how! We ordered a pizza after seeing it delivered to the couple next to us and it was delicious!!! We also ordered Mussels Marinara which are on the spicy side(the way we like it), with hot peppers added to the sauce for kick. It’s served with a fresh roll that’s as big as your head for dipping into the broth. My wife wanted a small salad which wasn’t listed on the menu but the bartender suggested she order a dinner salad which came out to $ 2.95 or something. As we were wondering where we were going to put all this food, we watched their meatball appetizer stroll by– 4 meatballs, covered with sauce, cheese sprinkled on top and slivered peppers & maybe onions covering the whole thing up! Talk about food envy! Those meatballs are definitely on my radar for our next trip up through Hermitage. Way to go, Combine Brothers… You make us very happy after a one hour drive!!!

Yes the portions are huge, but you are still overpaying for mediocre sauces on boxed pasta. I’ve tried multiple menu items and everything I’ve tried, from the pasta dishes, to the pizza, to sticking with only a bowl of soup, has made me sick. We have friends who love this place because they have huge boxes of leftovers to take home we so end up here a few times a year and spend the next day taxing our plumbing. Last night we gave it one more try and my husband and I are BOTH paying the price again this morning. Never EVER again. Quality over quantity people!

Excellent place. You have to get their salad and pasta– and bread lovers will feast on their rolls that are bigger than a softball. Workers are nice. Home made dressing is the bomb. Pasta is totally customizable too. However if you plan on going on Saturday or Sunday, call &’ make reservations, or you may end up with a 45 minute wait for a table for two!

If you come here for dinner, make sure you bring a real appetite. Delicious italian food that you are served such a large serving of, 99% of the people take some home. With meatballs the size of baseballs and rolls the size of softballs, it’s virtually impossible to leave here hungry!

Do not get an appetizer unless you want that as your meal as dinner portions are enormous. All the pasta dishes that I have tried are very good. Mild spaghetti sauce very good flavor. Service has always been very good on my many trips here. Only real drawback is the seating in the booths put you real close to your neighbor so privacy is limited. Would recommend however you will be taking home a dogie box for sure.

4.5 stars How can Combine Brothers have an average score of three stars?!! I got into town late on a Saturday night and had gotten lost for a while. The desk clerk told me to make a left and I’d see several restaurants. I selected Combine Brothers and was happy to see a cute, somewhat crowded spot. They only had beer and wine, and the Woodbridge wine I selected — which I normally would have turned my nose up at, since it’s so ubiquitous — turned out to be surprisingly good. They had a HUGE selection of pasta dishes with a myriad of toppings. I selected bowtie pasta with white clam sauce, and the serving size was incredibly big. I was happy to have the leftovers the next night, as I had a medical emergency with my cat and sure didn’t feel like cooking. The salad I received first was decent but nothing special, and I rejected the bread since it fills me up too much. Nice customers, too, as I talked with a nice woman back in town for a funeral. Pity I’m going to be passing through Hermitage again soon on a Sunday, since they’ll be closed…

Tons of pasta!!! This place has some awesome pasta in a «build-your– own» style. That also have a favorites menu, which is always good. We always get the pink pepper sauce with hot sausage crumbles. Spicy red sauce is cooled down w Alfredo. Sooo good. Their gigantic rolls are fresh baked and awesome. A little pricy for pasta, and that’s the only reason they didn’t get four stars.

I’ve been to Combine Brothers probably a half dozen times over the past year and have NEVER been treated so disrespectful at any restaurant I’ve visited. My friend ordered the Diavolo sauce with his pasta and I ordered the pink pepper sauce. When our entrees arrived the friend of mine thought he ordered a different sauce than what showed up but it was the diavolo sauce. Our server was gracious enough to ask him if he would like a side of the pink pepper or Alfredo sauce to mix into his entrée. I asked the server if she could take his entrée back and ask the kitchen team if they could add the sauce to the entrée. Our server(again, very helpful and gracious) took the entrée back and within a few minutes my friend’s pasta with the revised sauce showed up. When our Server walked away from our table, there was an older lady sitting at the end of the bar who ‘yelled’ for the server to see her. This older lady asked, «What’s that guy’s problem?» We could hear the entire conversation. The server describe what happened and how they were able to fix it and the older lady’s response was«Too bad!» The older lady then began rolling her eyes and shaking her head in disgust as if we or the server had done something wrong. When our server came back to our table, I asked her who was the lady at the end of the bar. Our server told us she was one of the owners. The lady(part owner) had already left and we asked to speak with another owner or someone in charge. A manager came to our table and apologized and told us that the lady(part owner) creates problems like this quite often and that he has had several guest and employee complaints. To top it off, when we received our bill for 2 pasta entrees and three beers the total was $ 141 plus change. Of course, that just added insult to the bad experience. To the Combine Brothers(part owners)…you should keep your mother(if she is the RUDE lady that likes to sit at the end of the bar and treat guests and employees like«second» class citizens, you should keep her out of the restaurant. The food, the salad is some lettuce put on a plate with some pink dressing that tastes bland and boring. The«homemade» bread has no flavor at all — very bland and boring too. The pasta dishes are overpriced and not prepared very well at all! Still haven’t been back.

Most important, don’t plan to eat at Combine Brothers if you’re dieting or are not a fan of carbohydrates! You’ll leave here very, very full and will likely have enough leftovers for another meal that will make you very, very full. Great place. Great people. Always a nice experience. Combine Brothers offers a lot of really great sauces, but I like the red clam sauce so much that I’ve never strayed from it in nearly 10 years of visiting this place. Plan on leaving Combine Brothers stuffed and happy.
