We got 2 beer samplers. We liked 2 of the 8 beers. The majority of them were flat. We also ordered the drunken pig pizza and margarita pizza. Very mediocre. The employees were nice and we didn’t have to wait long, which is different from the other reviews. But we probably won’t go back. What a bummer!

Waited for 30 minutes to get a table. The restaurant was crowded but seemed to clear a little about 15 minutes after we got there. Then there were at least 2 four top tables sitting for at least 10 minutes, whole the hostesses stood at the stand and danced. Poor customer service! We left!

My husband and I stopped in here on a whim on a Thursday evening around 4:30. The bar area was full and the seating area had a number of tables available. The hostess seated us at a high top for two. It would have been fine for sitting and having drinks and apps but was not large enough for two people to eat meals at. Also, the fact this is in an old stone church with high ceilings made the ambient noise level really loud. I am particularly susceptible to headaches in noisy venues when trying to talk over a meal. It was bad. You had to yell. No idea what it would be like when the place is full. The food was just ok, nothing special. We ordered calamari and it was a huge bowl full that we did not finish. They were ok, noting special. I had a bowl of chili, again it was fresh, not really hot and just ok. My french fries were nicely fresh cut it appeared and hot and so I enjoyed them immensely. I had a glass of wine and it was also ok, nothing special. My husband ordered a pizza with two toppings and he said he did not care for the red sauce, it was sweet and he doesn’t care for that on his pizza. The wait staff was very good, right on top of things bringing our drinks, apps and food in short order. The restaurant was not busy at this time so this would be expected. I did not feel the cost of the items was truly worth the meal though. We left and we were full, but it did not feel like we had eaten what we had spent. If that makes sense. Overall I’d say it was a fine one time experience but we will not be going back.

my sister and I had dinner and drinks there last night. she lives in the area and had wanted to try it I was passing through on my way back to Pittsburgh so that’s how we arrived there. the place is very small so be prepared to wait for a table. we probably waited about 20 minutes so no worries we grabbed a drink at the bar. I had the Red Sea she had church lady both excellent. we were seated and were lucky to get Shane(I’m only 95 percent sure that was his name) as our waiter. we told him what types of beer we liked and told him to surprise us with a flight. he did a great job all were good. usually there’s something I don’t like in a flight but not this time.(Saint Horne my fav and witty lady my sisters fav) their dark beer(forget it’s name was also quite good) and let’s face beer it that’s really the best part of a brewery no? their menu is limited — but diverse enough that you have options and again beer is the point here. we had a pizza(I didn’t love it– I’m really picky about pizza — crust was too doughy I like it crisp). we also had the loaded brisket fries and we added beer cheese to them — AMAZING — so much so that we ordered a second. they also make a sangria(you can get in the flight) which was quite tasty but a little too sweet for my taste. if you like sweet drinks you’ll love it. and the prices of everything are beyond reasonable. I think the flight was only 5 bucks. I understand that it’s relatively new to the area so yeah maybe they have growing pains to deal with but what new place doesn’t? like years ago a little ways down the road they turned a gas station into a wing place and it’s now a successful chain right? what if Unilocal was around back then??? it’s trendy and the brews are super impressive — like better than Great Lakes brews — again kind of the whole point of a brewery. it almost feels out of place in the area it’s in. it has a very upscale shadyside, east liberty, lawrenceville feel to it — without the ridic prices!!! I can’t wait to go back I really hope it makes it!!!

I live in the area and was really excited to try Stone Church Brewery. A group of 4 friends and I went there around 8:00 on a Friday night. When we arrived we were told the wait would be between 45 minutes and an hour, even though there was nobody ahead of us in line. We were actually seated within 5 minutes, which we were grateful for. The restaurant and bar are condensed into one room which used to be a church. It is very nicely and tastefully decorated inside and out. The environment is about the only thing that this place has going for it, though, aside from the beer. I started out with a glass of sweet red wine, which was served warm, although I believe it should have been served cold. My table mates got beer, which they thoroughly enjoyed. We also ordered the pretzels. The pretzels were really tasty, although I was disappointed in the size considering they were $ 7.00. My boyfriend’s mom had the macaroni and cheese with pulled pork. The macaroni and cheese was $ 9.00 itself and it was an extra $ 2.00 for the pork or any other topping. My boyfriend’s mother was very disappointed, as her macaroni and cheese was not warm and the portion was extremely small. My boyfriend also got the macaroni and cheese and a $ 7.00 bowl of chili which was also not hot. Another friend got the brisket sandwich, which he didn’t eat, as the brisket was so fatty, it was not edible. Another friend and I both got the pulled pork sandwich and the fries. Neither of our sandwiches came out hot, and there was a very small amount of disgusting pasty barbecue sauce on the sandwich. In addition, this menu states their buns are brioche, and they’re Schwebels(if we are going to get technical… which I usually don’t but I feel like this whole place wants to come off fancier than it is which I have a problem with). The fries had potential, but they were under cooked and not hot when they arrived at the table. Overall, everyone was disappointed by the mediocrity of their food. I’ve read other reviews that the service was bad, but I think our waitress actually did a pretty good job, especially since she had to deal with my boyfriend’s mother sending her macaroni and cheese back to be warmed up and my other friend not eating his fatty brisket sandwich. The awkward part was when the manager came over to talk to us about the food. He apologized in an unapologetic tone and kept asking us what was wrong, even though we weren’t trying to make a fuss about anything. We didn’t ask for replacements, and we didn’t ask for credits on our bill. The manager must have come back to our table 3 – 4 times, which kept drawing attention to us and seemed to be angry that we didn’t like the food. He did end up crediting my friend his entire meal due to the brisket not being edible, and he took $ 15.00 off of our bill, even though we didn’t outwardly complain about anything. I kind of got the impression that they are used to giving out food credits there. Overall, I’d say that the atmosphere and the drinks were great. I would go back to drink(and try to avoid the awkward manager at all costs). I would not go back there to eat though. I think that the prices are entirely too high for the portion sizes and the food is not good. I really hope that since this place is new that they can revamp the food portion of the business and get on a good track before the place gets too bad of a reputation.

I’m visiting from Tx and we sat at the bar and our knowledgeable bartender Phill was outstanding and the 3 beers I tried were fantastic craft beers from their IPA to the Red Amber. Pizza and the mac & cheese that you can add Pizza toppings to was awesome. Teddy, one of the managers was making rounds constantly checking up on the service was super nice. Love this place will be back.

It’s new so I’ll try it again. On a score of, 1−−10. Beer – 4. Pizza –3. Service – 2. I really hope it works out because its nice having another brew pub in the area. Will try it again in a while and I hope they get the kinks worked out.

I ate at this restaurant with my family one night on a whim. The outside looks like a church(which it formerly was) and the inside was pleasantly decorated. The stained glass from the church was retained and it was very nice. The décor was reminiscent of any modern gastro-pub and it played nicely with the elements of the old church. We arrived with a party of 5 and were squeezed into a tiny table. The menu is small with some apps, soup/chilli, pizzas, sandwiches etc. Nothing unusual for a gastro pub, and the beer/wine list seemed good. We ordered drinks and after about 10 – 15 minutes received them. Our waitress tried to flee after stopping by with the drinks but we managed to order food. 3 people ordered pizzas, one ordered the«loaded» gorgonzola fries, and I opted for the pulled pork. For the next hour and six minutes our waitress disappeared. Finally she emerged with my sandwich and the loaded fries. My sandwich looked good but the fries looked wrong. They were a tiny handful of fries with a tablespoon of cheese chunks and oil on top. They also appeared to have some seasoning like basil or parsley sprinkled on them. Upon tasting them we were all shocked how little flavor they had(they were $ 8!) and they were grossly misrepresented on the menu. I pulled the top of my sandwich off, to taste the bbq sauce, only to find a charred dry pile of pork. How do you serve a bbq coleslaw pulled pork sandwich with no bbq sauce(menu claimed both were standard in the sandwich)? I tried to find my waitress again but she was a ghost for twenty-five minutes. She then brought out the pizzas and tried to scurry away. When I inquired about the issues she said, «I don’t know. I don’t make food. I will check what they say in the back». She disappeared for another fifteen minutes then showed up with a small cup of sauce and a ¼ cup of coleslaw. She set the stuff on the table and literally ran into the back. By this time my fellow dinners had sampled their pizzas and they were completely underwhelmed. Almost no sauce, thin cheese, and hardly any toppings. A real shame for a place that bills pizza as a specialty. I put my dry flavorless coleslaw in my sandwich and sampled the bbq sauce. Yuck! It tasted of straight pulverized tomato, some onion/garlic, with dark beer added. I ate the sandwich and grimaced the entire time. When it came time to pay the bill came quickly and the manager dropped it off. We let him know the issues we had with the food and service and to his credit he handled it well. Although he looked surprised and got defensive about our comments about the loaded fries. He also let us know that the staff was new and they had a few people unexpectantly quit during their shifts(hence the issues). It took another twenty minutes for our waitress to take our money. At that point we just wanted to leave. We will not go back barring a radical change in food and wait staff quality.

Our first experience here is a lot like other reviews. The service by our waitress was non-existent literally we had to stand up and wave to get her attention. Our chilli cheese fries were presented like it has been sitting around under a heat lamp. Our pizzas were both made wrong yes how this is possible when they are straight from the menu is bit puzzling. When asked about the topping we were told we didn’t pay extra so they must have forgot. My jalapeños then came out raw in a tiny cup not even cooked with the pizza. This combined with my girlfriends mushrooms coming out wrong and raw again puzzling for a over priced flat bread pizza. This is not worth a visit just for eating in a old church. Zero customer service and food that is no different than dollar pizza warmed up from wal-mart. To top it off when paying w a credit card the server stands and watches as you enter the tip. Talk about ethics I suggest you hit the tip w cash option. No manager overall they have along way to come and even little Caesar says hello when you walk on. Also my girlfriends wine when she finished was not even asked if she wanted another one which she did. Who trained these people and up selling.

I was soooo hoping this place would get it right… Much like the other 1 and 2 star reviews. this place has more wrong than right… nice inside, but pretty small… décor is ok… nothing really that great. kind of plain and boring. Our service was HORRIBLE… the girl was nice, but really SLOW… we there there on a Sunday night at 6pm. seated right away… ordered a FF app… it was FF with brisket, cheddar and horseradish for $ 6. It was ok, portion was pretty skimpy. Had a flight of beers. All beers we had were just ok, but felt all were lacking any greatness. Brisket sandwich was $ 11. just ok. lacking any kind of real identity. Cuban pizza was $ 11. Our pizza was luke warm at best… toppings were just o.k. Dough was just missing something. too thick and chewy. Not crisp and hot like you expect from stone fired pizza. FF app came out after 25 minutes. Pizza came out 45 minutes after ordering… Sandwich came out 10 minutes after that. We were there for a total of 1.15 hours on a Sunday evening when they were NOT busy… It will be a L O N G time before we go back. HUGE let down.

Very nice atmosphere, and service was good. Cuban pizza: skimpy on toppings, crust was too thick to get crispy. $ 11 for a six cut, eight inch pizza. Beef brisket sandwich was burnt, bun also burnt, and fries not quite done. Beer not the worst but, meh. Like the fire outside on the patio.

Based on our experience, I can’t imagine this place will be able to survive beyond its opening week. Arrived and was seated approx. 1 – 1:30 pm for lunch. Food didn’t arrive until 3 pm, and the order was still missing things, cooked incorrectly and disappointing. We finally asked to speak to the manager and threw in the towel. We weren’t served drinks(at a brew house and not given beer menus or asked to order drinks), no one came to check in on us, despite food not arriving an hour after. Once it did, we had to ask for silverware and plates. The server brought two dozen flatware rolled on napkins, and told us we’d have to sort through; some rolls had forks but not knives or vice versa. My salad with steak was 4 charred 1×1 inch cubes of meat on a bed of lettuce. One burger was red inside and the other was totally charred and black, both of which were ordered as medium.

I went to Stone Church on Wednesday, December 31st at approximately 9:00pm with my wife and son. I had expected a wait but was seated immediately. I had great expectations for Stone Church but unfortunately I was very let down. Our server came to the table and began taking our order. We ordered three ice waters, a sangria for my wife and a flight of beers for myself. They were out of the sangria, which is produced by a local Winery less than a mile away, so my wife stuck with water. The server began taking our orders. My son ordered a Pew Pork sandwich which they were also out of so opted for a pepperoni, sausage & mushroom pizza. My wife was also going to order the pork sandwich but being they were out of it ordered the Cuban Flat. I ordered the Brew Brisket sandwich and an order of the Spent Grain Pretzels as an app for the family. My beers arrived about 10 minutes later. The beers were… well…underwhelming at best. Being their first week in operation I can understand growing pains but this is not the brewers first rodeo. I expected much, much better. A Brewery must have great beer. About 20 minutes later my food and the appetizer arrived to the table at the same time. We asked the server about our additional food and she said they were«being prepared». I also asked the server why I received roasted parsnips with my sandwich instead of the Brussels sprouts I had ordered and she had no idea. She returned to the table a few moments later and stated that the«vegetable of the day was parsnips and not Brussels sprouts. «. This was as 9pm, how do you work a shift that long and not know what you’re offering? She offered an order of fries which she brought promptly but were cold and soggy. The pretzels were not pretzels, they were pretzel shaped bread. The«cheese sauce» had no, I mean no, flavor and the honey mustard sauce was, and I say this in all honesty, THEWORSTTHING I HAVEEVERTASTEDINMYLIFE! 20 minutes later my son’s pizza arrived. The pizza was hot but did not have the crisp you would expect from a brick oven. I was very disappointed in the sauce. It was way too sweet. If you have been to Chuck E Cheese’s you know what this pizza tastes like. Being a teenager though my son ate the pizza with little complaints other than it wasn’t crispy. 10 minutes after we received our son’s pizza my wife’s flatbread arrived. It was the wrong item. The server, once again not knowing the menu, said she«didn’t know if it was the right item», checked the menu and stated we were right. She cleared the item from the table after returning then gave the pizza to the table next to us. I am not going to get into the FDA food code stating that«food that is in possession of a guest cannot be served to another guest». Oops, I just did. Another 10 minutes go by and my wife’s Cuban flatbread finally arrives. She ate one piece and I ate a piece. Same candy sweet sauce as the other pizza with dry pork and pickles. It also was not crispy but was hot. Not good. My sandwich, which I split with my wife, was tasty but I am assuming that was the work of Palumbo’s meat market rather than the chefs. The meat was crispy as if it had been reheated on a flat top griddle or under a very hot salamander. It had a great flavor and the brioche bun was perfect. I enjoyed it but for $ 12 expected a lot more meat. We boxed up the remaining pizza, which we will probably not eat, paid the bill and left…$ 42 later. A Brewery should have great beer. I pizza joint should have great pizza. A brew pub and pizzeria that has neither is doomed. Pick up your game, people. Train your staff, fix your POS system and get a better communication system between your kitchen and your pizza oven. Change everything and you may have a chance.
