Came here with my husband on a Saturday night before a comedy show. The food was good, the service was good and quick. We ordered the guacamole to start. Good. The cauliflower was amazing! The empanada was also good. My husband added a fish taco and he liked it. Overall it was good. I would come back again just for the cauliflower!

I know lately I’ve been rating restaurants based only on serving up some good times & alcohol so forgive me. Seriously this place was a God send. My life has been one big party that seems to never end. I was at Strand House partying it up with my girls the night before & got a text from my friend that just landed from Vegas and asked if I was around the area. I was like yaaas come on down and party with us! So he Ubered his way to us and the rest was history. We all woke up still SUPER drunk and needed some coffee. What luck my car belt breaks and we then Ubered to Java Man(my favorite coffee place and burrito place around here). Unfortunately they were out of my favorite egg white burritos so we walked around the corner for some food and ran into Dia De Campo. We seriously looked like we just robbed a bank laced in black leather everything(Mob style) walking down the street of Hermosa with his carry on looking like fishes out of water among such wholesome looking joggers. haha He was in the mood for Mexican and I certainly didn’t want to walk far with stilettos in Hermosa so we ended up here. We get to this restaurant and it was so cozy & lively. My friend takes one look at the menu and oh no! Here we go again! Him: Hey bottomless mimosas!!! Me: no no NOOOO … I can’t. (5 seconds later) Okay fine LETSDOIT!!!” Lol Waitress comes over and I’m burning hot but I don’t wanna take off my jacket cus I had tequila & wine stains all over my chest. Anyway I say eff it and took it off and the waitress says«oh looks like you guys had some fun last night». I’m like«yeah just another day doing another walk of shame. «she was so nice and said«but you guys look so cute together» haha. 4 stars for the brown nosing and making us feel at home! Mimosa comes out and we sat there for hours going through 2 – 3 bottles of champagne for breakfast! I even forgot to eat my burrito. The great thing is they never rushed us to get the hell out of there even though the place stayed consistently packed. Quiet enough where you can actually have a conversation without effort. If my friend only knew that all I needed was just another sip of champagne for me to take his offer to fly back to Bonaire with him right then and there, he definitely would’ve ordered another round haha. I really don’t know if anyone has ever really got the full use of the«bottomless» mimosas because they never even considered cutting us off. So my friends flight was leaving to Bonaire in a few hours & we finally had to ask for the check. So if you’re looking for a hangover spot where you can have fun, endless drinks, great Mexican food, and cozy talks, this is the perfect place for it. I will definitely be back here soon enough.

Well, the drinks were good… The food comes short from the prices. The food was not what I expected. Had just about everything on the menu. I can only say that I had better Mexican food from the lunch trucks at work… The Romain lettuce salad tasted like plastic. The rice was too dry. The tortillas were an insult to tortillas! LEARNHOWTOHANDMAKETORTILLAS! Seriously, I was insulted by the«tortillas.» The most basic thing in in Mexican food is tortillas! Their tortillas makes the maize goddess is very angry at you guy… Take a trip down to Mexico and ask how to make tortillas! Centeotle is very mad at you guys… The red snapper was really good! Anything firewood roasted is awesome, but these guys overdid it a bit too much. Everyone else in party liked the Romaine lettuce salad, but I thought it tasted like plastic. The fajitas! That is the only reason this guy’s are getting stars at all! The chile verde was, well, verde. Not impressed. The ceviches were not ceviches at all. More like a sashimi fusion and that is not the same thing. All appetizers are good. They have that down. And then there was dessert… had the yoyos, they were good. Also had the churros and let me just say, if Disneyland knows how to make churros, well, these guys need to visit the county fair more often. The chocolate dip was AWESOME!(Don’t change the dip) Now I really left disappointed since I ask for café de hoya and nope, no café. Had to make a run to Starbucks across the street… One thing is clear, these guys take pride on their dishes. You can see it on the presentation. No food Nirvana. And día del campo either.

Delicious! We had the 4 person voucher for brunch with bottomless mimosas through TravelZoo($ 78), which was a great deal. Reservation required. I went yesterday with my boyfriend and friends to continue my birthday celebrations. Service was good, but not excellent. They brought us our champagne right away and forgot the orange juice, but we reminded them and they brought it out right after. Took them a little while to bring out the guacamole which was included with our voucher. I felt they were a little slow since the restaurant did not seem super busy or packed for Sunday brunch, but overall everything was good. Guacamole was good with fresh, fried tortillas rather than traditional chips. We ordered some raw oysters from Washington as our appetizer that were very fresh and tasty. Their horseradish is very strong so be careful! For our entrees, we ordered the hangar steak & egg with fingerling potatoes, burrito of the day(chorizo, egg, tots, etc.), pork chile verde with house made tortillas and braised lamb with an ancho chili I believe. Everything looked great and everybody loved their meal. My steak was a bit salty and closer to rare than medium rare, but I ate it anyway and it was fine. My boyfriend and I made burritos later with our leftovers for dinner and it was just as delicious a second time around :) I loved the décor and vibes for Sunday brunch. They have live music which set a nice ambiance. I guess it would be Latin Jazz they were playing maybe? The restaurant is walking distance from the beach so we walked down there after our meal which completed a wonderful Sunday Funday with friends. Great place with good vibes and delicious food. I would definitely like to come back and try more things… and drinks on the menu!

Minus one star for the service Minus another star for the price! I came here with a few friends on a Thursday right before happy hour ended. The food here is amazing. I have no complaints. We had the tacos(fish & pollo) & oysters($ 1 during HH) and I highly highly recommend. The ceviche was interesting. I think we got the ‘straight up’, but I wish we had ordered the yellowfin. The salsa is black but not spicy. Boo. So I took off two stars because the server was less than friendly, had a bit of an attitude and really put a damper on our meal. Overall the food was great but we paid about $ 50pp and thats for 2 happy hour drinks each and some tacos?! Idk. that seems pretty steep even for Hermosa.

LOVE this place. I recommend coming during happy hour, and making a reservation. This place can get packed on any given night because it’s so good. Their décor inside is very urban and modern. Kind of upscale, but relaxed at the same time. I couldn’t even recognize the place, given it use to be Boogaloos. So the transformation was unbelievable. Love the vibe this place gives off. Now about what really matters, the food! I got their steak tacos, taquitos(probably my favorite), and even tried their corn on the cob which is seasoned and buttered to perfection. As for cocktails, I had the Passion over Function. Very spicy!!! But amazing. I ordered 2, i would have ordered 3 if I didn’t have to drive. The service was good as well. The server and food runner were very attentive on getting us our food on time, and clearing our plates. Overall 5, fo sho.

Thursdays seem to be our thing. My friend Terry and I meet up after work in South Bay and head to dinner. Last week was Abigaile and this week happened to be Dia De Campo. When she asked what I wanted to eat before getting in the über, I suggested anything since I wasn’t familiar with the area. Her choice for Abigaile last week was perfect so I trusted her judgment. She had been there before and loved it and she knew I loved Mexican food so we ended up here. First, I’d like to say, the service, gestures and quality of staff are incomparable to any other establishment that I’ve been to. From the hostess, bartender, servers, manager, busboys, name a position, they were all so cheerful and accommodating. We waited at the bar for a table, ordered a bottle of the Brut, but by that time our table was ready so the bartender brought us our bottle and ice bucket(floor standing) and set it right next to me for easy grabbing. Our server took our order and we had finished our first glass but our ice bucket was nowhere to be found. Somebody had moved it way across and very far from us. We noticed there was a 4 top that was available behind us and had plenty of room for the bucket stand without it being a hazard to other people. When I got the attention of another server asking if I could get ours, she simply asked if there was anything she could help me with. Not to sound jaded but a lot of places are so finicky about who helps whom and never wanting to assist another server’s table. I was pleasantly surprised by her helpfulness as we moved to the other table with our bottle and bucket. Everything was all good again. As the food started to roll out, I took photos, I snapped, made lighting for Terry and went in. Items we ordered: Straight Ceviche — Holy moly this dish was my fave. It is super fresh, lots of different textures, esp., and it has uni… HELLO??? Anything with uni is to die for… Unless you’re allergic, than you’ll really die. Huarache — Flatbread Mexican style. So much flavor, lots of everything, each bite was perfect and we didn’t have to fight for the last piece. Equal proportions are everything in a dish. Grilled Octopus(new item) — Cooked just the way it should be, came with tortillas so we made little tacos. :) It was light and airy and not(jjeel gee — korean word, it means) chewy. Chimichanga — Now there are two things that may be happening, since our trip to Abigaile, we ordered a bad entrée as well. 1. We’re bad at ordering entrees and we should always go with our second option OR2. We eat so much before the entrée and it doesn’t taste as good as it really is. Although the accompaniments on the dish was mostly eaten. For me, the chimichanga was too meaty for me. Casing was flaky and the the slaw with sauce on top was flavorful. Everything on the plate but the chimichanga was yummy. OR we were just too full to enjoy. Either way, Terry and I decided to never order entrees again. We are 2 for 2. #fail As for dessert. Goat Cheesecake. Yes it sounds weird but the manager recommend and now I recommend it to all of you… I of course forgot the manager’s name because I am such a horrible person AND I have the worst memory but thank you for the dessert and we hope to be back soon! Now get your a** over there if you haven’t been yet!

Brunch with friends by the beach always sounds like a good idea! This place is walking distance to the Hermosa pier. I love their décor, very hip and lots of open space. We were immediately seated, and ordered a bunch of stuff: –Guacamole salsa: it’s pretty good, comes with fresh fried round tortillas. –Shrimp cocktail: fresh and delicious –Dark smoky salsa: just okay, a bit too bitter. –Hanger Steak and Egg: tender and well marinated –Empanada: with egg and marinara sauce on top, very good and suprisingly very filling. –Oysters: just okay, maybe I just had a bad one, it tasted a bit funny. Great service, our server was very accommodating. Made it very easy for us to split bills, much appreciated of them taking multiples credit cards.

Love love love this place… been going regularly since they opened a year ago and added plus that it’s almost within walking distance from my place. It’s also my go-to place when friends visit and want to try something difference… a mexican/spanish inspired gastropub is the best way I can describe it. Service is also friendly and attentive and love the Passion over Function cocktail… fruity and spicy. As far as grub goes, the bacon wrapped dates stuff with chrizo is a must have as is the hamachi and guacamole. Also enjoy the street corn, the grilled romain salad and the chili verde. If you’ve got at least 6 people in the group, definitely go with the big ass carnitas. The last two items I mentioned come with the homemade tortilla that are great. Dessert has been hit or miss but again, overall… a good place and reasonably priced.

I came here with a few friends on a recent Saturday morning for brunch/lunch. They’ve got a pretty good location 1 block inland from the beach. The interior is nice and spacious and I liked all of the high tables around the bar. The food here has lots of staples(like chips and salsa) but everything has a different twist that i’ve not seen elsewhere. The salsa was actually black in color while the civche was red. Go figure. Overall the food was tasty(particularly the hanger steak with egg on top and the civche was excellent) but pretty pricey in my opinion. Our group of 5 paid $ 35/pp and 2 of us shared entrees. I’m guessing you are paying for the location.

I used to come here when it was Boogaloo all the time. so when it changed to this place I was very skeptical. it turned out to be a nice mexican spot. Let me tell you what I orderd. Short Rib Empanadas, Lamb nachos, Burrata, Street corn. Everything was pretty spot on delicious but if I could recommend anything, it would be the street corn, OHTHESTREETCORN! aka Elote was perhaps the best I’ve ever had. What also was nice is that they had free tequila tastings. There was this Avion guy that was giving out shots of different types of Avion tequila. he even had a coffee espresso tequila which was shockingly good… service was good. I would come back again Happy hour is 5 – 7, I wanna come back and try their brussel sprout fries

First impression is pretty great. The interior decoration is absolutely beautiful – very edgy yet a romantically modern Spanish-style is the best way I can describe it. It’s one of those restaurants that makes you want to grab a cocktail to just sit there and admire the art. We came during happy hour which is Monday-Thursday 5−7pm. The happy hour menu was looking pretty good with fair prices so we ordered the majority of our drinks and dishes from there. All were small tapa plates so not exactly filling. If you’re looking for a full plate for a full stomach maybe order from the main menu. For happy hour, oysters are $ 1. Score! They were pretty delicious and a great way to start off our outing. The Brussel sprouts nachos was pretty good. A lot of flavorfully cooked veggies on top a bed of nachos, just as the name implies. It wasn’t mind blowing, but it was a good snack. The avocado taco was delicious but so skimpy on the veggies. There was literally 1 thin strip of avocado. I get that they are supposed to be tapas but that was a bit too skimpy. Avocado taco should have a good amount of avocado. The pork avocado was just okay. The mole wings were not as exciting as the name and description implied. It looks so savory and flavorful when the dish drops on the table but the taste was a bit disappointing. It wasn’t bad, just not that exciting. Also, a bit over cooked. I’d recommend skipping this one. My favorite dish by far from our order was the salmon tostada. Delicious. It was the last dish from our order so I was a bit skeptical since precious dishes were mediocre but this one did not disappoint! A descent amount of raw salmon with other veggies and guacamole… so good. I would come back here just for this. Bottom line: gorgeous feel-good interior, perfect location for fancy delicious drinks and to start the night. Oysters and salmon tostada were a hit. Other dishes pretty mediocre. Service is great.

What to eat when you are in hermosa beach?! Lots of places to choose from and this place seemed like it had awesome reviews so my friends and I decided to come here on a Saturday around 12pm. We sat down and ordered some OJ and coffee. While we ordered our food we just caught up with our lives. I ordered the Strata — slab, sweet corn, grilled bread, oven dried tomato, arugula. My friend ordered the same thing to and I guess they have to bake it. Where is our food??? It’s been 20 minutes… we asked our waitress and she said it should be ready any moment… Another 20 minutes rolled around and then she said its coming out. She said when you order this dish, it could take awhile to cook. SIDENOTE: Let people know how long it takes to cook because people could have other plans. If I had known this dish was going to take 45 minutes, I would’ve ordered something else. I was already upset and hungry so when my food came out, I was expecting it to be like a tasty explosion in my mouth since it took so long. One bite, and I though hmmmm wasn’t that great. Maybe I gotta dig a little deeper to get the good stuff. NOPE! One of the worst dishes I’ve tasted. Never Ever coming back here again. Also a note that my friend made; fresh squeezed OJ? Tropicana tastes better. OJ overpriced!

Came here to celebrate a birthday. Made reservations and we were seated right away. Pros: –The food was excellent. We ordered the beats salad, salmon ceviche, pork belly, short rib empanada, scallops, and a variety of tacos. My favorites were the salmon ceviche and short rib empanada. So, so good. The tacos were ok, not bad, but not the best. Scallops were decent but it looked like something I could make myself. –Service was good. They cleared our tables when dishes were empty and refilled our drinks promptly. Cons: –They charged $ 2.50 per person cake cutting fee. Not a big deal and we happily paid. –It would’ve been nice if they could’ve offered a free appetizer or drink for my friend’s birthday –The place is way too loud to have a nice dinner at. Some people prefer that and some occasions are more fun with a louder atmosphere, but for us that night, it was too loud. It was difficult at times to hear what the person from across the table was saying. They also had music playing, both live and streaming. Overall it was a pleasant experience. Again, the food was pretty awesome. I’ll be back again when I’m looking to get a buzz.

Dia De Campo never disappoints. The space is well designed and exudes a casual beach side vibe for those that are over the scene on the Pier. Parking: It’s Hermosa so expect it to be tough especially as the weather gets warmer. Bring coins because some of the meters still don’t take credit cards. The Food: Everything I’ve tried was memorable. The scallops are amazing. The empanada is a must. Oysters were yummy. Bacon wrapped dates, who doesn’t love bacon? The street corn, just as good. And let’s talk about the tacos. Order them machismo style. They make them with flour and corn tortillas with a layer of cheese in between. The drinks are good and the tequila list is impressive. Enjoy!

I’m normally not a fan of Hermosa pier’s scene. It’s douchey, it’s loud, there’s always a guaranteed spilled drink on you at the end of the night. Dia De Campo has changed my perception and it’ll keep me coming back. I came here for Happy Hour on a Wednesday — drinks are DELISH! I had the La Leona, potent but you won’t taste it. It’s not sweet, it’s well balanced, refreshing and slightly smokey. I had the shishito peppers with okra — okra that’s NOTSLIMEY! what? they’ve done magic on this dish. Albacore ceviche — it’s not a tradition ceviche that you would think of but it’s pretty tastey and very interesting. The blood oranges and the chipotle sauce adds a great citrus to balance the smokeyness of the dish. Presentation is amazing too. btw. I would go there just for the live music — two guys, one on drums and another on keyboard. playing everything from jazz to covers of today’s hits with so much soul and enthusiasm it’ll bring a smile to a grinch.

Ding Ding Ding !! I have a new favorite restaurant to put into rotation !!! I’m a regular at Wildcraft and bartender Lourie was surprised I hadn’t tried Dia De Campo yet since I’m always in HB. They’re sister restaurants along with Abigaile. Mexican is not something I usually seek out so I’m not surprised. The pics of the food and ambience were definitely inviting. Came in early evening yesterday and was not disappointed! I chose to sit on one of the comfy couches. Great vibe here. The barstools look super comfortable with curved, padded backs. I said BACKS. It’s the only way I’ll sit at a bar. Love the red color too. Here’s what I tried: Burrata with chorizo marmalade — yum Carne Asada, machismo style,(corn and flour tortilla) stuffed with cheese, topped with avocado, and lime crema– delicious Plancha Pork Belly. — This. Was. Amazing. Big fan. Obviously I’m coming back. Maybe on a Wednesday for the live music!

MMMMMMMMM yes. My boyfriend impresses me with his dinner choices and conscious Unilocal decisions. It’s time to make this guy Elite already! We have been to Dia De Campo twice now, and have ordered a variety of dishes. Our first time, we snagged bar seats in the back, with a view of the kitchen. It was romantic too, being tucked away and alone. Right off the bat, we skipped drinks and went for the Queso Fundido. Far from traditional, this appetizer was loaded with pork and pineapple! Crunchy and greasy chips were on the side to scoop up heaps of that cheese. If that wasn’t enough dairy, we also ordered the Burrata Fresco. I was in heaven with all this glorious cheese in front of me, woohoo! A tamale came later for a little balance. This tamale had a fresh spin, blue corn masa, side of fresh purple kale, a butternut squash purée — I mean?! Only bummer is they were out of Churros that night. Next visit, we had reservations and went with the Chorizo Stuffed Dates. Bacon wrapped, sweet date and salty chorizo inside. I’d say these were a win. Passed on the dairy this round, and ordered the Short Rib Empanada & Shrimp and Chorizo Enchiladas. Both were melt in your mouth, delicious. The empanada had a fried egg on top and the enchiladas were drenched in a chile ranch sauce. Then the Churros happened… I think I hyped these up way too much in my mind because when they arrived, I was already bummed out. Small, too hard and mediocre. I could think of two places in particular that have way better churros, so sorry DDC — this is a forgettable dish. But really, this is a great place to bring a group or enjoy a romantic night out. I dig the atmosphere here and the staff always has a smile.
