Tarsan Stand Up Paddle

This is a terrible location for renting stand up paddle boards. The staff was apathetic giving no instructions. They required a reservation but wouldn’t take it over the phone, only online. Despite calling ahead of time and asking about the area, we weren’t told we would have to transport the paddle boards or how rough the waves would be. It was too rough for us to even get the boards out. We did no paddle boarding. Walking the boards to the ocean will take a nice bit of your rental time. Without any heads up, we had to walk the boards bare foot. I feel like taking my money for a rental they should have known I could get no use out of was completely unethical.

LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT MY LESSON WITH GORDON (forgot his first name — sorry!) was super sweet, nice and completely helpful. I won’t lie, I was a bit scared getting onto the paddle but our instructor made it so easy. We first started out on our knees and then by the time we got out of the marina, we (My sister and I) were both standing up. I absolutely loved my lesson and can’t wait to paddle board every weekend until it gets cold. Everybody who works at Tarsan SUP is a sweetheart too, loved the staff and their humor!

All of the employees rock! Their new location in Redondo gives you access straight onto the water. You can cruise the harbor or go even further out and see the seals and more wild life hanging out. Great exercise. Perfect place place for beginners or SUP experts. Thanks Chase, Brad, Julien, Curren, Jason, James, Pam and Dean for representing this sport in the South Bay!

Unfortunately, I have to give this place a bad review. I came to Tarsan and told the individual at the front who was not paying any attention to me that my girlfriend and I had never paddle boarded before and that I had a bad back with herniated discs. He proceeded to say I would be fine and rented us the boards. He also mentioned when we returned the board that he knew the water was a bit choppy. Needless to say, I was unable to paddleboard at all because it hurt my back so much and the water was so choppy. He also gave me the heaviest board in the shop and I had to ask someone on the beach to help me with it. I have been in bed rest ever since and wish the guy working would have been more honest about how it would affect my back and being a first time users in choppy conditions. Beware if you go paddle boarding to get sound advice from the shop as opposed to having them try to sell you something that will hurt you.

I have been twice and both times have been amazing. If you go, ask for Brad as an instructor. The coolest dude who knows everything and anything about paddle boarding. Great scenery and a great workout. Win win. Just go.

The staff and equipment is great, you couldn’t ask for anything else.
I’m a huge fan and will definitely go back and rent boards from them to do it in the marina but «as good as it gets» dictates being in crystal clear water that’s as clean as the Florida Keyes and conditions were the way they were today.
Definitely go if you’ve never gone and get in the water with these guys.

my friend and i took a semi lesson with brad here … we had fun we would def recommend taking a lesson with him they are super friendly. we stayed in the harbor but was still awesome since it was out first time !!!

The guys at Tarsan are awesome! So helpful! I took my SUP to them and they finned it for me (now mind you I didn’t buy it from them, they were just happy to help any way possible) and they adjusted my roof rack too. I rented from them last summer and loved their service so when I found myself needing a manly professional hand I stopped in and sure enough they were super happy to help me. Tarsan crew I love you! Thank you!

Had a blast! Very clean shop. Very professional staff. Going to come back again. Highly recommend it.
