Excellent sushi and steak teriyaki. They provided a wonderful course meal for us very quickly. I highly recommend this place!

My daughters and I came here for the steakhouse side, and service was terrible. Our waitress didn’t check on us once the entire time. I finished my drink and crunched on my ice, hoping to get her attention, but she kept her head down and didn’t make eye contact with anyone. Another person at my table flagged down a bus boy to get a refill. The place was not very busy. Clearly, most people who go there do so for the sushi. I won’t be going there again.

I eat here all the time at lunch and realized after I posted today’s pic that I never did a review… posted some pics but duhhhhh sometimes I get so sidetracked. So I was asked if I would recommend and the answer is yes but I’m not sure I would drive out of my way for the lunch buffet. For me this is a local place and since we eat out at lunch all the time it is in my rotation of lunch places and occasionally at dinner. I realized I’m not sure of the current buffet price as hubby pays but it is around $ 15. For that it is a really nice selection of both hot and cold items. I tend to ignore whats on the cooked side and I focus on the sushi and some of the salad options. I find all the options presented as very fresh and well made… its just that nothing is particularly unique on the offerings but all are solid… So for me a great lunch option at what I think is a reasonable price. At night the place is split between the sushi side and teppanyaki. I’m not a fan of teppanyaki but I go with hubby when he wants. Haven’t been there for dinner in a bit so can’t comment on current things. So yep… I’m happy it is in my neighborhood as a lunch option for me!

The buffet here is a good price, during weekday lunches it’s $ 13 or so for the buffet. My boyfriend prefers coming in then but I like my sushi rolls to be specially made to my order, it just tastes better and fresher. We have been here several times and the buffet is decent but their fancier rolls are worth coming in not during the buffet and paying extra for. We haven’t had the hibachi here together but I have heard and seen it looking good.

A good place for lunch buffet. Only 14.95 per person. Very popular around Herndon and Reston area. Great for group people. Not enough waitress.

This used to be a go to sushi place for me, but no longer. The past two times the fish has tasted old and looked like it was cut with a saw. The service is excellent and the prices are reasonable for the area. I hate to say it but I think this visit was my last.

This is by far my favorite sushi restaurant in the Herndon/Reston area. The staff is extremely friendly and incredibly hard working. I usually see the same faces working when I stop in for lunch or dinner, and they are always enthusiastic and passionate about making sure my table has a comfortable, delicious dining experience. The sushi lunch buffet is not to be missed and draws a big crowd for good reason. They have an excellent selection of fresh sushi rolls and nigiri available, along with various Japanese and Korean hot dishes from the kitchen. It’s great value and you’ll definitely leave feeling full. I’m also a fan of the 50% off special that they have on Friday and Saturday evenings. You can order their special sushi rolls at 50% of the price. It’s a great way to eat delicious food for a good price and try new things.(Plus, they bring each table a small complementary appetizer of fried dumplings.) If you haven’t been to Matsutake, give it a try. The food is excellent, the fish is fresh, the tables are spotless, and the staff is extremely pleasant and attentive.

Meh. I came here upon recommendation from a colleague. I was super excited to see what she raved about. Well, upon entry, we were greeted by the hostess and waitress. They were friendly. We came here for the sushi portion, not the hibachi. Food: Apps — . Baked mussels were alright, spicy. Sushi — . Shrimp tempura rolls were good, nothing spectacular. Dinner Box — . We got the Galbi bento box. While there were plentiful of food, nothing stood out and the food was at best, mediocre. My husband liked the sashimi, there were no rice with the bento box, the sweet potato tempura was a tad bit raw and not cooked all the way. Did not care so much for the other stuff, aside from the Galbi meat(beef ribs). Perks — Complimentary side dish of fried small dumpling. Movie theater and Starbucks in walking distance.

Came here on a quiet night in late February. The overall experience was lackluster and a bit of a disappointment. I’d be willing to try them again for their lunch buffet as it seems like it would be decent for the price; I likely won’t return for dinner. The food: nothing special Sushi and miso were just okay, pretty run of the mill. Sashimi cuts were a little awkward and very thick which made eating it clumsy and overwhelming. Their cocktail menu was very big and looked interesting. The service: needs work We were one of 3 small tables and service started very focused and attentive. By the end of the evening the staff had brought out our food in a very off-sync way with parts of the order not being delivered until much later on after that course had been cleared. When we told them to forget part of our sushi order because we had to leave or we would be late for our movie, instead of ringing us up they had us wait for another 10 minutes and then brought over the hastily made sushi order even though we’d already eaten dessert. We made it very clear once we realized they had forgotten it, that we no longer wanted it, and asked them even before they started to make it to take it off our bill. Instead chose to keep us waiting and charge for it.

My favorite sushi restaurant in the area! Excellent quality, always fresh, large portions, excellent service and very friendly. The restaurant is also very clean with beautiful Décor. Love coming here with my wife especially before we go to the movies right next-door(Worldgate nine theaters). We have been coming for years and always leave extremely happy & satisfied. Highly recommend to everyone!!! They also have wonderful Hibachi !!! I love the filet mignon and lobster. The scallops are also Great! Love this place!!!

Don’t go to the sushi part here, overpriced and I ordered an avocado roll and barely got any eel in it. So mad. Waste of money.

The Food Is Always Good. The Service Is Excellent … One Of My Frequent Sushi Spots! It Is A Little Pricey Depending On What You Get. But It’s A Nice Family Eating Spot Also!

I adore this place! The hibachi side is wonderful, the chefs are entertaining and accurate, definitely a great experience. The sushi, though, this is where they shine. The special rolls are always interesting and flavorful, and are half off some evenings, making them easy to try without it hitting your budget too badly. AND they have sushi buffet for lunch most days, even Saturday, but come early! It gets busy and for good reason. The spread has a soup, salad and dessert portion, a great hot bar full of fried goodies, and then the sushi is very generous. It spans about double the size of the hot bar and is a diverse selection, some sashimi and always a special roll or two. The staff are wonderful as well, the hostess always greets you at the door and all the servers are willing to take care of you. The sushi chefs are nearby and greet you as well. The only possible complaint I have is they bring you the check(if you are having the buffet only, of course) well before you’re done. I assume this is so they don’t have to worry about trying to figure out when you’re done stuffing your face and can leave at your leisure, but it’s bit off-putting the first time it happens.

Came here on a whim because you can never really go wrong with sushi. But I was not satisfied with this particular place. Service was good but my meal wasn’t. I ordered the bamboo drink & it was made so strongly I couldn’t even finish it. Not only that but the liqueurs in it didn’t make my drink smooth so it was very hard to take. My boyfriend ordered a gin and tonic & that was just as bad. There was way too much gin and barely any tonic. He ordered a Coke as well but that was very flat. Food wise we ordered a sashimi appetizer. That was decent since you can’t really mess up something that simple. We also ordered the volcano roll, the Japanese lasagna roll, & a basic avocado & eel roll. The volcano roll was the highlight of the meal. I probably won’t be coming back to this since there are plenty of other sushi places that are much better.

This food was so bland it’s mystery why people give it anything more than 2 stars. There were plenty of people in the restaurant and I kept wondering to myself, do they really like this food or are they first time sufferers like me? To begin with, the rice on the rolls was not fresh and made the sushi unbearable to eat. I liked the salmon sashimi but the rice it was laying on was bleh. And of course they charge extra for being wasteful of the rice because thats the only way they can keep the price of the sushi low. I.e. Force your customers to eat the shitty rice that comes with the decent salmon. I basically just got a whole bunch of the sashimi, because of course the salmon on top of it was sliced paper thin. And to avoid getting charged extra, we ate the rice with the bulgogi which was not THAT bad. I was hoping that the fried sushi rolls would at least make up for the other poorly constructed raw sushi rolls, but those were even worse because they tasted like bland rolls of mush. They had a teriyaki chicken roll which was just waste of space in my stomach. Even the chicken wings were flavorless. How hard is it fuck up chicken wings? Really fucking hard. I can’t recommend this place to anyone but if you would like to experience it for yourself the sushi buffet ends at 2 and is $ 14.95 per person.

This hidden gem is located close to my sister’s office and I come here for the lunch buffet whenever I’m in the area. The quality of sushi is great– especially for a buffet. The other offerings are good too. I love all the tempura options as well. The outside is perfectly crispy and not greasy at all. My favorite is the sweet potatoes and green beans. The service is also SPECTACULAR. The sushi chef is the nicest man ever and his wife is very hard-working and very sweet. It is obvious they are always sensitive to the diner experience. The price is very fair too. So much better overall than similar locations, such as Heebeen or Ilmee. I can’t recommend this place enough. :)

I hit up Matsutake for lunch after flying into Dulles and checking into the Marriott — I should have gone elsewhere. They don’t advertise that the lunch buffet is $ 16, at least, nowhere that I could see, and frankly, the sushi is really bland. Everything tastes the same, and for whatever reason, most of the rolls are fried. I mean, it wasn’t BAD sushi, like I didn’t get sick, it just wasn’t good sushi. The price was steep, too. I understand that it’s a buffet, and they have to make their money. I also get that it’s the DC area, and proximity to the hotel, and Dulles, and blah, blah, blah, but they don’t advertise. I’d much rather have paid $ 12 for a three roll special of decent sushi than $ 16 for all-you-can-eat crap sushi. Had I really thought things out, I probably would have hit the thai or vietnamese place in the shopping center.

I went to their sushi lunch buffet and it’s a great price, $ 16 for all you can eat sushi and it’s quite tasty. The lunch buffet had a wide variety of sushi to choose from hot foods like noodles, chicken, etc. I was in a sushi mood so I just stuck with sushi. The service was good they took all dirty plates away immediately and made sure you had water to drink with your meal. If you’re looking for a decently priced sushi buffet for lunch in Herndon, come here!

*** 3 ½ stars *** We met up with friends for the lunch buffet. The sushi selection was decent, while the hot bar and desserts were lacking. If you’re just into sushi, you can get plenty of bang for your buck at the $ 15 buffet. The sushi is fresh and plentiful, and I like how the rolls are cut on the small side — I tend to get full easily and that way I can try more varieties. It was quite a trek to get here from North Arlington, but I would definitely consider a return trip if I were already in the area.
