Awful food, awful service. This is what they replaced Finnigans with? What a joke. They took away all the big sports TVs and now the food is horrible too.

Since April have been here a bunch of times and service is back!!! Greated promptly by host and server which is a major plus. Our fav on Friday nights is the prime rib special. It’s just yummy. I love the horseradish cream while hubby opts for just plain horseradish(a option just ask) Most weekends there is music so check their website or give them a call if you are looking for entertainment. Weather getting nice and outside seating is open. We opt for the dining room as it tends to be a bit quieter there. The bar area has a mix of seating options from the bar to booths to high top tables. On our regular rotation… Ohhhhh yeah… Try the loaded tarot tots!

Subpar burgers that are over priced. After messing up the burger twice the manger refused to explain what happened and wouldn’t comp. the meal.

PJ Mulligan’s is a welcome change from the former Irish-ish spot that occupied this location(Finnegan’s). The food menu has improved, the service is notably better, the happy hour is more robust, and the Irish-ish-ness has been elevated. The good things are still there, too: beautiful dark woods in the interior around the bar, a respectable beer selection, and plenty of outdoor seating. You can’t beat the happy hour, which includes $ 3/$ 4 pints of beer and heavy pours of wine, and lasts from 3 – 7. Some evenings have live music, and there’s plenty of standing and sitting room inside, but of course it gets pretty loud and lively inside. Parking is very easy — don’t waste your time trying to find a spot above ground, which is very limited and also time-restricted. There is ample free and unrestricted parking in the garage below the shopping center. Plus, need to get some grocery shopping done or get a workout in before or after your stop at the pub? There’s a decent Harris Teeter here, as well as three boutique workout facilities. Food is decent and varied — I’m an admittedly huge fan of the Dublin Hot Tots — ghost pepperjack cheese, jalapenos, and curry sauce served in a skillet. Delicious and spicy! Not a fan of spice but love tots? They have several other tot options. No tots for you? Don’t worry — plenty of pub classics, Irish dishes, burgers, and even salads. Prices are fair, portions are good, and our food is always delivered to temperature. I like to stop here after work for drinks, but they also have a weekend brunch that could be worth checking out.

Visiting from CT and wanted to stop in to something local. Great atmosphere, Not loud. Service was prompt and continuous and we were blown away by the quality of the food. Salmon was cooked prefect with a sweet glaze. BYO burger was out of this world, and the steak and Mac and cheese was perfect. Lots on tap to choose from, The Cider was light and very delicious. Great place, plenty of parking. If you’re in the area it’s a must try.

Went in based on Unilocal reviews and not really knowing what to expect. Service was great, and food was as well! Overall, I give it 2 thumbs up, I would definitely go back. Our server was a sweetheart as well, didn’t get her name though.

Been here a couple times and have enjoyed it every time. I’ve sat at the bar and the tables and service was good either way. I usually go for the burger, it’s pretty damn delicious. Never have seen it too busy but def seems to be a popular happy hour spot for workers nearby.

Better than your neighborhood Irish Pubs. Great Food, Good selection and yes! They have a Whiskey Menu you have to ask for! Two words«Tater Tots» are to die for.

I’ve been here twice(on Saturdays — slow night here, apparently) for beer and snacks. I can recommend the calamari, which is fried crisp and is served with crispy fried cherry peppers that were tasty but took up a little more real estate than I would have liked. Still, a very good dish. The first time I went in, my server was new, so I’ll obviously grant a little leniency on not knowing the menu very well, but it was pretty frustrating when she left«early»(she was apparently working an unscheduled double shift and got released) and everyone forgot to tell me. I flagged down another server who apologized and told me what happened, I sort of got lost in the shuffle. While the bar was nearly full, there was only one other table in the place with customers, so it seemed like a pretty small shuffle to get lost in. Otherwise, the staff has been prompt and courteous. Good-not-great beer selection on tap, wine, and a full bar. The ambiance is not very Irish, aside from some wall art and I think some display cases of artifacts in one of the dining areas. Still, if you’re looking for a dimly lit pub with a solid oak bar and a swarthy gent or lass with autumn curls pouring warm pints, this isn’t it. The menu offers some«Irish» fare, but don’t expect to be transported to the Emerald Isle is all Ii’m saying.

Two words… PESTCONTROL. My experience was immediately ruined when I saw a cockroach walking on the wall near our table. I tried to keep my composure because I was on a business meeting and didn’t want to cause a scene. I ordered a shrimp and veggie dish and it was mediocre at best. The flavors were extremely bland and I could hardly stomach it because all I could think about was the creatures that could be roaming around the kitchen. As far as the service goes, it was not good either. Our drinks fell empty multiple times and the server didnt come back to check on us until we were all finished eating. I will never be coming back to this restaurant.

A group of us went here to celebrate a birthday, they were glad to accommodate us including storing the ice cream cake in their freezer. Seems like they are known for their tots you can get them plain or loaded in 2 ways 1 with bacon, cheese, and a few other toppings and another with pepper jack, jalapeños and some other hot stuff. I got mine plain with my chicken BLT sandwich(which was delicious, go ciabatta bread!) and others got the spicy toppings on their tots and loved it. As an appetizer I shared the fried calamari with a friend and it was pretty good. I’m thinking about coming back to try their brunch menu, I was trying to see if they serve mimosas during brunch, I’ll have to call and update m review to find out. Either way I’m coming back to try it!

Six of us went here for lunch, not really because we wanted to, but because it was the lesser of all other evils. The Northern Virginia food scene has endless dining opportunities … if you like chain restaurants. The plaza where this place sits has some of your usual suspects. Moe’s. Panera. Pei Wei. Despite having a chain feel to it, I had never been to PJ Mulligans so I got my group to venture out and go with something that could accommodate all six of us. Having grossly eaten BBQ for about 4 consecutive days prior to coming here, I ordered myself the chicken caesar salad.(I realized I’m kidding myself if I actually think I’m being healthy by eating caesar salad). The salad itself was meh, but the chicken was so, so sad. It honestly tasted like Subway’s. My second choice was the burger and fries, which I’m glad I didn’t get because the fries looked as equally sad as my chicken. Fortunately, the service was very good and everyone seemed to be happy with their meals so the pressure was off, but if I were to return to this plaza, I think I’d go with the other options I was trying to avoid.

I’m not surprised Finnegan’s closed and sure was hoping P.J. Mulligans would be better. Wasn’t overwhelmed and won’t rush back. Still crowded and loud and service was not the best. Waiter didn’t offer the specials — we had to ask and then he read them like a school boy reading from a text book he had never seen before. He could hardly pronounce some of the terms and clearly didn’t know what they were. The menu had a few of the same or similar items — but overall was very limited. We did appreciate the addition of the tater tots although the order, when it arrived, was quite small. Our entrees were fine — wings(hot sauce served on the side — wings not tossed in sauce), Caesar salad, Reuben sandwich. We don’t plan to go back — hopefully it will be something else soon because it’s in a convenient location.

PJ Mulligan’s has taken over what used to be Finnegan’s in the Woodland Crossing shopping center. While it’s still an Irish themed establishment the ownership and menu have changed. Hallelujah! The pros: –New ownership(same people that own Four P’s in Falls Church) –Improved service(even though some of the Finnegan’s staff remains) –The menu(it’s been updated, revamped and it includes tater tots) –Magners on draft(like it should be, DAMNIT!) –Happy hour specials The cons: — They don’t allow dogs on the patio. This may not be a concern for most of you. I am fortunate enough to be able to bring my dog to work and I enjoy dining al fresco with coworkers now that it’s spring. Finnegan’s used to allow it so this is really my only complaint. Stop by for a drink sometime and grab a bite to eat. It’s worth a visit.

As a vegetarian, I didn’t know what to expect when we came to an Irish-oriented public house for lunch. Surprise — good surprise. P.J. Mulligans has a very flavorful vegetarian pita(way above average) as well as some small plate dishes. They have decent fries, too(served in a cute little cage). In addition, there are interesting sides(Brussels sprouts, squash succotash, asparagus). Finally, the owner checked with us a couple of times to see how we were doing(he obviously cared about quality and customers). While I can always hope for more(veg Shepherd’s pie or bangers and mash), P.J. Mulligan’s has enough to be workable for me. That and the caring ownership makes it.

Great addition to the neighborhood; a real Irish pub with character and personality. You expect to find James Joyce hunched over a Guinness at the bar, scribbling notes on a yellow pad. New owners and staff have breathed life into an old pseudo pub/sports bar, stripping out the TVs and upgrading the food and whiskey selection. They appear to have worked out the bugs noted in earlier reviews, as we had exceptional food and service. Or maybe we were just charmed by co-owner Emmett’s lyrical brogue as he explained how to measure the quality of the Guinness by the rings it left in your glass. But Irish charm is the hallmark of this thoroughly comfortable establishment. There is something for all tastes on the eclectic food and beverage menus, from burgers, reubens, and bangers and mash to lobster, lamb shank and slow roasted pork shoulder. Excellent selection of drafts and wine, but don’t overlook the very fine whiskey, whose presence, at least for now, is noted only on the chalkboard. Everyone should be so lucky as to have a pub like this in their neighborhood. We had to drive 30 minutes for the privilege, but we’ll definitely be back.
