Many people who use hearing aids really hate them. I am in this camp. This is because they don’t work nearly as well as the vendor promises and they cost way to much. I recently had a hearing test at Kaiser and took the results to PHS — a vendor recommended by Kaiser. I was told I needed an audiologist with a lot of experience with my particular hearing loss. I visited Professional Hearing Services in Herndon yesterday. The visit was a complete disappointment. What I heard was, «We sell Phonak hearing aids. You need the most expensive one.» I heard nothing about my particular problem or how Phonak helps with speech recognition. I was also told Phonak is «not optimized for music.» This even though I told them music is a very important part of my life. PHS is like every other hearing aid dispenser. No worse. Better than those that fronting one brand of instruments. Consider Costco as an alternative.
