Absolutely lovely place with reasonable prices. So many great finds from books, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vinyls, and more. Would have bought way more than a book if I had room in my house.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Herndon, resting comfortably, albeit crookedly above Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern, this place is a gem for those who appreciate the treasures of the past. The collections that Roaches in the Attic sells are amazing and their prices are always reasonable. They have an extensive collection of glassware, old advertising, books, and furniture. They run great sales throughout the year, and the staff, who happen to be the owners, are warm, welcoming and friendly. Even those who aren’t a fan of antiquing will find items that catch their eye. Yes the entry steps are crooked, and the floor creaks, but if you’re into antiques you’ll find these quirks to be more endearing than annoying. Give yourself plenty of time to look around. You can make several loops around the store and still not see everything they have to offer. Since its directly above Jimmy’s, you occasionally get a waft of french fries as you walk around, so you might want to eat before stopping in, as it can make one begin to hunger for more than just antiques! Its a great shop that’s definitely worth checking out. The owners have outstanding taste, and the items they pick are in excellent condition. You can tell that they really put their heart into their business, giving the utmost care and attention to the quality and maintenance of each and every item for sale. I don’t think I’ve ever seen dust in this shop, which is amazing for an antique store. The hours listed are more akin to base hours, give them a call around holidays and during the summer, as they tend to extend their times of operation. This is definitely a great spot to sift through history and appreciate the quality and craftsmanship that went into items, before we started mass producing cheap, generic everything. I have never walked away from this store disappointed.

Stopped in on a whim after finishing a sandwich at Jimmy’s. This spot is located directly above the tavern. I was a bit leery of entering just by the look of the stairs. Good thing there are hand rails on both the left and right as the stairs lean a lot! Even the store floor tilts a bit and on the day we visited the air conditioning could have been a bit cooler. This all made for a somewhat unsettling visit until I started browsing. This shop is really cute and has an amazing selection of glass, crystal, vintage and antique items. There is so much to see, one time through is just not enough. I found myself looking at the same displays more than once. Even my husband did not complain about browsing this shop — there really is something for everyone! Prices seemed fairly reasonable for this type of store as well. I really enjoyed my stop here and will be back on my next visit to Herndon.

I don’t review a lot of places on Unilocal but Roaches is worthy of a lot of praise. They have great prices for antique items, much better than I’m used to seeing for similar stuff particularly in stores closer to DC. Typically stores are like Ruff and Ready(terrible quality, store a shambles, good prices and negotiable) or GoodWood(ludicrous prices, fancy showroom, high quality, no negotiation). This store is a happy medium, with a delightful slanted stairway to the ‘attic’ leading to a warm well organized storeroom of crystal, cut glass and some oddities. We’ll recommended for interior accent pieces and such. The owner(pat) was also very informative and I left with a couple interesting items(a collectible bottle of Pepsi from ’88 and a pair of opera glasses from 1900 or so. Total of 66 bucks! Pretty sweet.

This place is fantastic. Very very reasonable prices. I would say it was a Pinterest store of trendy refurbished or antiqued items. Its location is in an almost antique district of Leesburg.

Shopping here was a great experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and they clearly love what they do. They had beautiful items that were very reasonably priced. I will be back!

I have visited this shop in search of a vintage ladder to use for my photography business. Not only did this store have it(other antique stores had ladders too but many refuse to sell them because they are useful marketing tools), but I got it for a great price too. While I am not a fine china and glass shopper, this is the place to go for beautiful glass, old records, magazines, and other cool antiques like scales, type writers, and lamps. I will definitely go here again soon.
