Ordered the deli sandwich per recommendation of employee at the register(apparently a popular menu item). Mortadella, salami, provolone — tasted delicious and was prepared quickly. Seeing pictures of other potential menu options, eager to try others. It’s also a bit pricier than a Subway, but the bread definitely tastes better. Had a small cannoli as well. Tasted delicious with crunchy shell but could have used mascarpone cheese — Yummy filling on ends but kinda empty on the inside. And come with cash or you’ll be stuck with a $ 0.50 fee.

Food is good. But they charge extra 50 cents for any credit card orders which is super annoying since I know they they don’t pay 50 cents on my $ 7 sandwich. Besides that it is a good place if you don’t mind paying cash

Get off the Subway. The Deli is your next stop on the Sandwich Line. The Deli serves sandwiches as they should be, where the appeal is the bread, the meat, and the seasonings, all of which this place does exceptionally well. My Italian lunchmate(I don’t think he’d like to be called that, which is why I’ll use that word) agreed that this was a great Italian deli, on par with the best in the area. This is a deli(hence the name), not some place where they sprinkle a couple of pathetic pieces of meat(so thin they have only one side) on a loaf of bread, then give you the opportunity to point at vegetables and grunt for the next couple of minutes. Here, you order a sandwich, and a minute later(how are they that fast?) you get one, and it’s awesome. The meats taste like real meat, distinctive and flavorful, and the seasonings jump out and give an edge. They don’t skimp on the meat either. No, they don’t skimp on the price either — it was $ 18 for my sandwich, drink, and brownie, not cheap, but if you’re trying to save money on food, go to Safeway, not Subway.(Seriously, Safeway has decent subs.) Not much seating here, so plan accordingly. The Deli is a great discovery, and I’m thinking of grabbing a menu and treating it as my next to-do list.

«It’s pretty hard to mess up a sandwich!» you’ve probably thought. You’re wrong. Lots of places excel at making sub-par sandwiches(which will hitherto be referred to as «sammiches»). Oddly, these places often have a following, but as Subway is the biggest chain restaurant in America, we as a nation have set the bar really, really low. The Deli is one of the places that reminds me what a good sammich can be; hand sliced meat piled high on fresh baked bread, loaded with veggies and peppers. Many of the meats are imported from Italy, so they’re the real deal. My go-to is the Mad Italian(12″, of course), which is loaded with mortadella(Italian bologna), capicola(spicy cured pork [from the neck]), genoa salami, pepperoni, and provolone. I get all the trimmings, including mayo and mustard, which I’ve had to ask for, as they aren’t part of the«set» for this sandwich. Another favorite is the Salty Dog, a sammich packed with corned beef AND pastrami and provolone. I leave this bad boy more or less as is, adding only mustard and hot peppers. The Il Maestro is another great one, with fresh mozzarella and prosciutto. All sandwiches come with a pickle on the side. They carry Vaccaros cannolis that they fill to order. These come in two sizes; I’ve stuck with the small one, as they do pack a sweet punch. There are only a couple tables, so don’t count on seating. There is a large selection of grocery-type items, from jars of the hot peppers to big bags of chips, cold beverages, and various imported Italian foodstuffs. You can also order meat by the pound. The staff is friendly, and I think the people that have helped me are part of the same family that owns the place. I’ve never waited more than a few minutes, as they move people through pretty quickly. Prices can seem a bit high for sammiches, but the things will stuff you to capacity and are freaking deliciouso. The two basic sandwiches, The Deli and The Super Deli, are $ 6 and $ 8, respectively. After that, the cheapest specialty sammiches are $ 9.95 for an 8″, more for a 12″ and additional meat/cheese. There is also a $.50 charge to use debit or credit cards, so be aware of that. Best sammiches in town!

The Deli has been my favorite deli FOREVER but on Friday I had an unpleasant experience. I got The Super Deli, as I often do, and they forgot the onions and the hot peppers. Granted, I usually take the onions off but that’s not the point. The sandwich was also slathered in mayo. I’m a big fan of mayo and even for me, it was way too much. There were two guys working that day… not the two ladies who are usually there, one of which has been there for ages. Maybe that was the issue. I will definitely go back but next time, I’ll be very specific(gotta have my hot peppers!) and will cross my fingers that the guys aren’t working the counter that day!

This is the closest I’ve found to a NYC Deli on this side of the Potomac. Eat in or carry out.

If you don’t like this place you have no soul. No, no just kidding… but seriously this place is amazing. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for quite sometime now, and we haven’t met a sandwich that we didn’t like. We’ve finally decided on out favorites his– super salty dog(which is absolutely HUGE) mine-the hog. We usually eat them with everything, the peppers are spicy which really adds to the overall taste. The meat bread ratio goes something like this 70% meat 30% bread which, I’m sorry, if you have a problem with that you aren’t human. They also have a vast selection of chips to choose from(I love the old bay chips). In addition, they have homemade desserts, as well as sauces. In short, if you are craving a deli sandwich with seasoned deli meats, fluffy white bread, fresh delicate toppings, and the perfect bag of chips with any tastebud go to the Deli!

Italian sandwiches do not get better. No skimping on ingredients, not even prosciutto. Pickled peppers and other toppings are perfect companions. You want an Italian sub, go here!

Full disclosure… I am not a big sandwich fan. But I do on occasion appreciate good quality deli meat and this place has it. My husband and I have been there twice. Each time I got a roast beef sandwich on wheat. It was delicious. Not too much meat, but way more than you would get at any chain sandwich place. This will be our go to sandwich place from now on. Do yourself a favor and skip Subway and Jimmy John’s…this place it SOOOO much better.

Damn delicious. Have tried 2 – 3(Hog, New Yorker, Salty Dog). All were very tasty with a nice balance of meats and veg and condiments. I love the bread they use. If you like hot peppers ask for extra! The staff is very friendly and a nice selection of chips and sodas. Sometimes I toast them at home when I’m feeling extra naughty and somehow they become even more damn delicious. My only wish is that they sold whole dill pickles on the side. Definitely would recommend.

This place is awesome. We didn’t feel like cooking because of Hurricane Joaquin so we tried this place out. It totally reminds me of one of the little Italian places I went as a kid in Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh, PA. The sandwich is LOADED with tons of meat, seasoned perfectly and comes with two very large seasoned pickles! I toasted mine when I got home. This place is really great.

Best sandwich in the area. You may walk in and think«why are these sandwiches so expensive? Why should I pay $ 12 – 13 for the same sandwich I can get at subway for $ 6 – 8?» Wait until you get your Deli sandwich, then you’ll have your answer. The sandwiches are huge, packed full of the freshest ingredients, succulent lunch meats, and wrapped in fresh bread. They are so big that I’ve literally PULLED A MUSCLEINMYMOUTH by trying to eat one too quickly. So, when you order your sandwich, sit down, take a breath, and take small bites to avoid injury. You will enjoy it.

I will start this review with a disclaimer – everyone ELSE I know absolutely LOVES this place, including my boyfriend. I had heard that these subs were the best in the area, so I had high expectations. The inside of the store is really cool – it’s like a real old school deli, with a row of shelving with actual like grocery items to buy and it looks old inside which is quaint and nice. I ordered«The Budster» which is my favorite combo of meats, turkey and ham. My boyfriend ordered the«Mad Italian.» They whipped them up SUPER fast and they were huge(make you realize how much Subway is skimping when they say their subs are really 12 inches). We got the two large subs, two medium sized bags of chips and a slice of oreo cheescake – $ 40, not cheap at all. My sub to me basically tasted like an enormous pile of very high quality but salty meat, with remnants of bread and some hot peppers. I couldn’t taste the mayo, cheese, oil and vinegar or anything. If you are a big meat lover – like my boyfriend – this is a dream sub because it is fresh, very good heaps of meat on some bread. I personally like my subs to be more of a flavor combination, where the meat is the focus but the accents like the dressings and veggies and bread and cheese are detectable and come together with the meat to form an interesting taste experience. I don’t love meat enough to just eat gobs of it, and I am also sensitive to salt, so the amount of salt taste in the sub was too much for me. The cheesecake was probably the worst I’ve had, as well. I wasn’t even sure it was cheesecake – it had a strange consistency and was almost flavorless which was weird. So I wouldn’t recommend their desserts. I think you have to be the kind of person who LOVES loves loves meat to really like this place. I probably won’t be going back myself but I’m sure my boyfriend will and there is no question this place has very fine quality deli meat galore.

Excellent subs! I’ve had the italian and budster so far and both were great. As stated, tons of high quality deli meats on your sandwhich. Im a big guy and can eat my share and the 8′ is actually enough to fill me up. It is expensive, $ 10 for the 8 and 13 for the footlongs and they dont have combos. 10 bucks for a sub/chips/and a pop and I might be here every day of the week lol. The service is nice I must mention as well. HIGHLY recommed.

Clean, fast service. The 12 inch sandwich option is huge! I ordered the Mad Italian and it was excellent. I would highly recommend this Deli.

The sandwiches and subs at The Deli are indeed huge, and stuffed with good quality meat, but I think for the price it could be a little cheaper. I believe it was $ 26 for two sandwiches and sodas. I ordered the 8 inch«pizza» cheesesteak, which was good, but I think I would have preferred it with no marinara sauce, so I should’ve got a regular cheeseteak. They did, however, warn me before that it did have the sauce on it, when I requested lettuce and tomato. The sandwich my bf got, I forgot the name, was a bunch of their assorted deli meats, with peppers. I really enjoyed it, and I could tell the meats were fresh and sliced right then and there. That’s the pro of The Deli, good quality meat. Otherwise an 8′ sub will run you higher than usual($ 8-$ 12).

After reading all the great reviews, I decided to give the place a shot, after all it is two lights from my job. First let me start of by saying I had to rethink going in because it didn’t look too promising. After going in, I wasn’t sure where to go, there really wasn’t a direction or sense of where to start(this is why the 4 stars not 5). So I just walked up to the cashier who gave me a menu, I ordered the Italian. The whole process from entering the door to getting my food and leaving took 7 minutes at most. I didn’t like that they don’t do «combos» since the cashier asked me if I’d like chips and drink and I asked if it was a combo, to which she said no it’s all separate, so passed on the offer. Anyway, fast forward to me eating at my job, it was DELICIOUS! It’s so fresh and savory. I will be going back. Such a plus that during the lunch rush this yummy place doesn’t get overly crowded causing the quality of the food to go down. Great for a quick bite to eat ! Edit to add: the charge you .50 is you use a debit/credit card(also why it didn’t get the 5 stars)

The name says it all«THEDELI» and nothing in the Metropolitan area can compare as they are a real authentic Deli, they have many different types of meat, cheese and breads and they are always fresh, very nice staff to accommodate as well An 8 inch sub here will look like a sub with Extra meat from anywhere else and there will be more meat than lettuce, they also have wines, cannolis and numerous chips to choose from I’ve been coming here for years and they have sustained the Perfect Deli Sandwich
