FOOD: Think diner food. Think great portions. Think, you can’t really go wrong with standard diner food made well. Think this is a bit more expensive than your local diner. We have a variety of egg, meat, waffle, biscuit specials. We were all pleased and satisfied. SERVICE: THESERVICELITERALLYBUMPEDTHISPLACEUPFROM3 to 4 stars. Our whole party came in intervals since they were flying in from Dulles. The staff was so friendly despite the trickle in. I was so impressed at how fast the food came as well in the setting of a large party. Our cups were constantly being filled too. AMBIANCE: Nothing special, think IHOP or Denny’s RETURN: I live far away, so unlikely but if I did, I think it’s a good standard breakfast spot. RECOMMEND: If you live there, go there, it’s a good solid breakfast diner. Don’t go out of your way for it though. It’s really just as good as IHOP or any diner of the same type.

I went there for a late breakfast on a Tuesday. I ordered the corned beef hash and coleslaw since I’m trying to stay away from potatoes. The hash was OK but lacked very much flavor as did the coleslaw. The only very good thing there was the service.

I had high expectations that were sadly not met. I ordered the Western omelette. It was pretty small, plus I had to pay extra for cheese. Doesn’t every omelette have cheese already? Inside was just cold, raw onions and peppers with some cubed ham sprinkled in. Maybe it was just an off day for the kitchen. The biscuit and potatoes that came with the omelette were decent. They make it worth 2 stars instead of 1. I might try again another time to see if my experience was just an anomaly.

Go-to breakfast joint. Exactly what you’re expecting from a place like this. The food is good, portions are hearty, service is quick, and we usually don’t have to wait long.

Good service but was slightly disappointed with the food. Portions were smaller than expected and food wasn’t very fresh. Would be willing to come back to try lunch but won’t have breakfast here again.

I thought the food was ok. Nothing spectacular when it comes to breakfast. It’s a family oriented restaurant and all the servers were very nice and prompt. I didn’t think the value was worth the price of the meal. I had egg omelet which included mushrooms and green peppers and substituted for hash brown & bowl of fruit instead of the usual 2 sides that came with it and 1 cup of coffee and the bill was around ~$ 17. When I go to Eggectations, I order the same thing except I get the crab omelet and I expect to pay this price because it’s crab.

I get that this place has been a staple in the community for quite some time. But wow! Disappointment would be a 1 star rating. This was –3 rating What I ate. Was to say the least. Nasty! If your hungry. Get the amazing Peruvian chicken on the corner. Or find a Waffle House.

Has that old school laid back diner vibe. I’ve been coming here for years and this is my favorite go to breakfast spot. Food here is good. Waiters are friendly. Place gets pretty packed on weekend mornings, so be prepared for that. Their country friend steak is my go to. My girl friend prefers the Annette’s combination which comes with waffles and she usually adds chocolate chips to it. Very family friendly place. So come here and enjoy some good breakfast with your family on a nice Sunday morning. A must try when around the Herndon area

This is your neighborhood breakfast/brunch place that offers homemade comforting food and warm friendly service. It really doesn’t have anything fancy but just a solid option for some simple breakfast items. My friend and I saw the good revieww and have been wanting to try this place for months. Since I need to get a car wash in Reston, we finally decided to come here and try their food. It is very popular among families and older people. It is like the old diner but better in terms of service. Although both the interior and exterior are dated, the service beats a lot fancy restaurants in this area. The waitresses always filled my water and coffee without me asking and they serve a lot of tables at the same time. I was impressed! Speaking of the food, I got the scrambled eggs with egg beaters, biscuit, and a slice of smoked turkey breast. I also got a fruit bowl. It was fulfilling, biscuit was not fluffy and buttery enough. Everything else was good. My friend got the waffles and he said the texture of the waffles was not soft enough. With such cheap price, I won’t expect too much from the food. So, no complaint here. Maybe I’ll come again if I am in Reston again during weekend.

We have been coming here for almost 20 years. The breakfast is quite good. They offer a variety of specials on the weekends, usually 2 egg specials, a pancake special, and a sweet special. The menu is varied. The best thing about the restaurant is the neighborhood feel. The owner and staff make you feel at home. We frequently run into our friends and neighbors there.

I was meeting my friend in Herndon for brunch. We pulled up Unilocal and Waffle King seemed the most promising. We were looking for something affordable and casual and Waffle King fit the bill. Small diner and very relaxed vibe. Our timing was good because we only had about a 10 minute wait. I’ve read that the wait can be long, which makes sense because the restaurant is not very big. We sat and ordered our food. The prices are very reasonable and portions are big. I ordered a combo with their famous pancake, choice of eggs(well done), hash browns, and bacon. My friend ordered bacon, biscuits and gravy, and eggs. Our food came out quickly which was good because we were starving. The food was delicious! The waffle was thin, crispy, and sweet. The eggs were cooked perfectly as were everything else on my plate. Coffee comes with free refills too. You pay at the cashier on the front and they can separate checks. Everyone here was very friendly and helpful. Great spot for a meal.

So the hubby and I have become regulars here. And this place is still excellent. They did update the interior. The food is still a great value. Everything we’ve had tastes great. I do tend to stick to the pancakes since the French toast slices are a bit small and have a bit too much egg for my liking(I can’t stand the taste of eggs). I’d like to try them for lunch if I can break free from the pull their breakfast has. Also the service is excellent the servers are nice and attentive with refilling drinks. I would totally recommend if you’re in the area.

«So many options» Had brunch here with a large group of people and I do have to say that I was a little overwhelmed by the size of the menu. It would be goos to kind of have an idea of what you want to eat. Good thing that I was in the mood for waffles. I had the waffles, eggs, hash browns, and bacon. A pretty standard breakfast that is hard to really mess. The food was good but nothing to write home about. However, the character of the restaurant differentiates this place from others. Many of the dishes are named after what I assume are former and current employees the restaurant. I found that kind of cool. Next time that I am in area, i will give this place another try.

This has become my regular breakfast/brunch place in the Reston/Herndon area. All the comforts of a Southern breakfast. Biscuits are fresh and light. Breakfast grits are a good consistency, and you can taste the corn in the hominy. Breakfast meats are well prepared. The ambience is homey, the service is prompty and friendly. Recommended. See you folks on my next trip!

Looking for a great affordable breakfast in Herndon? Well Virginia Kitchen does just that. I’ve been in this plaza before for various reasons, then stumbled upon this place with a quick Unilocal search, attempting to find a place for brunch that wasn’t either pricey or a chain. The Orange juice is amazing, their sausage links are flavorful, and the banana nut bread was everything I could have ever hoped for. My mother was a fan of the sausage biscuits(which she has high standards for) and their potatoes were very nicely seasoned, which is a feat since I rarely find myself actually liking potatoes. The waitstaff is very warm and welcoming and the environment is a cozy-upbeat kind of atmosphere. Would’ve liked to try the blackberry pie, but the banana nut bread appeased my sweet tooth, will be back to try the Banana nut bread french toast. Great place for breakfast.

You know how you go to a place a lot and never think to review it… sorry all… a great place for breakfast and lunch. Love the homemade jam/jelly as a option on the table. One secret they probably will give you magarine… just ask for butter if you prefer. We tend to do breakfast here… solid options. Don’t see the combo you want? Just ask… they can do alacarte on most things. Waitresses will tend to remember how you like things. This place can get busy on the weekend… line usually moves briskly. They just updated the décor. … still feels cozy and welcoming.

Consistent and definitely still the no-frills, simple comfort food restaurant it strives to be. A solid breakfast joint in the area. I always still get one of the combination breakfast platters so I can get a bit of sweet(french toast or pancakes), salty, and savory(breakfast meats and potato) in. The fresh fruit side is always as advertised, fresh cut fruit. Always friendly and warm service. They recently redid their interior, so new matching booths.

Oh, Virginia Kitchen, how we all love thee, our sweet little waffle mistress! Any time my friends from New York visit VA, I take them to meet you for breakfast — you seduce them too with your Southern charm, flaky biscuits, and weekend coffee specials. You make my day whenever you have the egg and cheese sandwich on pretzel bread. I dream about you all week long, thinking of your Belgian waffle with whipped cream and fruit. My kitchen nags me every Sunday morning because I’m always leaving to spend it with you. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
