Went here today to buy a few things. Very nice people. New owner is very nice. Prices are decent for a mom and pop shop. In my humble opinion, they need to get someone in there that has at least a decent knowledge of firearms and firearm accessories. Although nice, when you are looking for something that is actually very common, the deer in the headlights look is bad. Not that they didn’t have it or did have it. The young lady helping me had no idea what I was talking about. I went to their FB page to look around a bit. There is a Remington 58710⁄22 for sale! There is no such thing as a Remington 58710⁄22. #1– The picture is of a Remington 597. #2– Ruger makes the 10 – 22 and has for about 50 years. With the assault that is taking place on our 2nd amendment right now, any mom and pop shop needs all the help they can get to stay in business. They need knowledgeable sales people that are friendly and sell quality items at a competitive price. They have half of that battle won. Please get some help. I want you to stay in business. I really do.

I have made several trips into the store and the staff seemed Knowledgable and helpful. This was probably about 6 months ago. I was looking for some gun holsters and didn’t want to wait for an Internet order or have to drive down the hill. I called Monday and was not aware they are only open Tuesday thru Saturday. I called Tuesday and Wednesday, they didn’t answer. I left a VM on Thursday in the morning and never got a return call. I can only surmise they are making so much money hand over fist my purchase is not even worth the effort to respond. This could either mean their prices are out of this world or they don’t appreciate the average customer. Anyway, in the future I will preface any call to a similar Gunshop thaT I’m looking for an AR right away and I have cash. Maybe this would warrant a response to my phone calls.

Good service, but i have to be honest. They are price gauging on ammo; However, they do have good deals on their firearms, so buy guns here.

One star only because the lady that helped me was nice will never go back 11 day wait instead of 10 and all but the lady that dealt with me everyone else was rude I wish I wouldn’t of bought anything from them

After trying three times to purchase a weapon from Bass Pro I finally tried a locally recommended gun shop and was lucky to find the best one around! The service and two ladies working were very knowledgeable and easy to work with! The prices really shocked me that a small shop easily had better selection and prices than a major national brand. I would recommend this shop to everyone

This is a small mom & pop gun store that is very professional, well stocked and very clean. I appreciate that you don’t have to walk into a sketchy, dirty pawn shop to speak to some jaded young punk working the back gun counter. That seems to be the case with almost every other store in the high desert. Gene, the owner of High Desert Guns and Ammo, as well as the rest of the staff, is extremely friendly and patient. I went in the store to check them out to use as a possible FFL(federal firearm license) dealer for an out-of-state transfer I have coming up, and just to browse around. I saw him wait on a couple of customers in a friendly and helpful manner, patiently answering their questions and offering helpful advice. For some reason, this is an increasingly rare thing to see in SoCal gun stores. Their FFL fees are not the cheapest, but still very reasonable. I also noticed their prices are good as well. Some of their specials are quite good, even beating some on-line discounter stores. For instance, they had an «out-the-door» special price on a Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 lower that was too good to pass up, so I jumped on it. Like any good and reputable dealer, they can special order most anything they don’t have in stock and they have the expertise(from what I saw) to help you on any decisions. Looks like I found a new FFL.
