I went here at the end of July. It used to be great but the new management is aweful. They charged me a service fee for using a credit card. I told Joe that was illegal in California and would not give me my money back. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company to get it back. Look it up! Oh and $ 3.69 for a bottle of water is way too high! «No retailer… may impose a surcharge on a cardholder who elects to use a credit card in lieu of payment by cash, check or similar means…» Statute: Cal. Civ. Code § 1748.1(a)(West)

As a local in the Summit Valley community, I no longer shop here. The change in ownership has amounted to higher(WAYHIGHER) prices. I used to use this as an almost daily place to get beer and gas. The new owners have placed the almighty dollar in front of their need to serve the public. In the off season they will rely on the locals to help survive. In all honesty this will probably not happen anymore. The old owners at least were savvy on the locals to help bolster their off season business. Talking to local’s in the area they buy their gas and weekend purchases elsewhere. The feel of the place has changed but the usual crowd still hangs out in the morning and the old owner still stands out front and defends the place. Damn shame.

Sadly the«Mom & Pop» station has changed in recent days… gone are the happy girls behind the counter… As well as the lowest gas/fuel prices… Now charging a fee for using your ATM/Debit card too… I doubt I’ll be stopping in as often as I use to… Now jus another station… Unfortunately not the«stand out» that it use to be…=(

***Update — 10−24−15*** One star for violating the law. Per another reviewer and other research I did on my own, Cal. Civ. Code § 1748.1(a) states that charging a surcharge for debit and credit customers is illegal. I plan on suing them for all the times they charged me this fee. Customer service is also pretty bad, and Joe doesn’t remember my day from one day to the next. Moreover, the caliber of customers dropped down many notches since this store started carrying hard liquor. ***Update — 04−04−14*** Ownership changed hands recently and this isn’t the same store it used to be. Molly, Roxie, Sabrina and etc? No longer there. Most of the staff quit when the new owners took over. Not only is fuel on par with or higher than other places in the high desert, but they upped the price of beverages(I tend to get Peace tea, but they changed the CRV amount(illegal)). This place now sells hard liquor; I’m guessing that’s catered for the weekend warriors going to Silverwood Lake or Crestline, but honestly, this place seems dead during the week. They also charge a surcharge on credit card use. The guy behind the counter, Joe, is kind of friendly, but this place no longer has the personality that it used to have, and Joe isn’t that friendly enough to keep me a loyal customer. Now I fill up down the hill(I use both diesel and 91 octane), and it’s amazing how I can find premium fuel for 25 – 35 cents cheaper per gallon than these guys. I’m honestly wondering how much longer it can stay in business if the regulars stop patronizing them and all its business is from weekend warriors. ================================= Want the cheapest fuel in town? Literally? Well, this is it. It says City of Hesperia, but more like unincorporated Hesperia. This is the only fuel station in at least an 8 mile radius, but it’s super cheap, for both diesel and gasoline. The people who work behind the counter are friendly, and it’s clear that this is another mom-and-pop establishment, not a big chain who franchises a particular brand and has a turnover rate similar to that of a McDonalds 39 cent burger.
