What prompted me to write this update and issue them the fifth star was my visit here yesterday. I had been fasting since the day before to get some routine blood work done. I like to do this every so often to make sure I’m ok. I have done many things in my youth that surprise me every time that my internal organs haven’t collapsed. Add to that, if you read the majority of my reviews, my love for food and dining-out. Anyways, I wasn’t in the best of moods or chipper upon awakening this morning. If you don’t allow me to have, at least, the sniff of Cuban Coffee in the morning, people«may» end-up getting hurt. I usually don’t come here when they just open. I always get my appointments late in the afternoon. So, they open the door and the group of us start entering. Every single one of us received a genuine, with a smile, «Good Morning — Buenos Días» from the Administrator and every employee from there on out. Not to the group as a whole, rather, to each one of us individually. If that alone doesn’t deserve a fifth star then, I really don’t know what does. I was quickly put out of my miserable mood and awaited the legal«Vampires» to take my blood. Things to note(some are important) and blah, blah, blahs(not in order of importance:) Language Here — If you notice in My Reviews for businesses in Hialeah, I always make sure to include, at the minimum, one sentence in Spanish at the end. I’m not trying to be «cute» or «different.» South Florida, Hialeah in particular, has morphed into a very unique Melting Pot where Spanish«helps» to at least understand. Here, unlike other places I have briefly lived in or visited, it is very different. That being said, here are the languages spoken/understood at this clinic in order of importance: * Español — Most of the Residents of Hialeah are elderly folk that came to America at an older age where learning to speak English was literally impossible. This clinic caters, for the most part, to my area. On my block alone, including mother and me, there are ten people that come here. I am the only one, the youngest, that is fully bilingual. Unless, of course, you consider«JELLO, jarachú,» «jes, sankew» and«me no espeaky inglitch» as being fully bilingual. * Haitian Creole — This clinic has many Haitian Members. Other than having members of Haitian Origin and although I can speak the basics of Kreyòl ayisyen, I cannot confirm that it is spoken here. * English — Upon request, you can choose English as your preferred language here. I have purposely pretended not to be Cuban and the essential employees will start speaking with you in English if need be. Again, this isn’t the main language spoken/understood in this area. All Doctors, for example, are fully bilingual but, you would never know that unless you ask. Non-essential employees, however, that is a different story. One thing to note, I haven’t heard stories of someone coming here to have something routinely done and missing a vital organ or being a drag queen upon leaving because they didn’t speak English. The Clinic — This used to be the Pasteur Clinic in Hialeah. It’s still in the process of undergoing a much needed renovation. As of this review, the main areas are mostly done. Very nice, modern and up to date. Courtesy Shuttles — Use them if you can. Always punctual and useful when you need to attend a Specialist not inside this clinic. Medical Services Provided — This is where you come to see your Primary Doctor before being referred to a Specialist. Many convenient«one stop’ services are provided here. Check their website for details. Other Services Provided — This clinic is very popular amongst the elderly for their social needs. Encourage them to attend the Events offered. This will hopefully get them out of your way during the day so you won’t book them for an extended stay at the local Home. Wait Times — Very minimal. You won’t be here for, let’s say, six hours waiting to see your doctor. This long wait time is common at other clinics. Emergencies — Call beforehand but, doctors are on call 24⁄7. They also have a very limited«Emergency Service.» Again, call before heading there since this isn’t an «Emergency Room.» So, long review short, in comparison to the other clinics in my area, I recommend Continucare-Hialeah with my eyes closed. So many good things about this clinic. Please Note: This review is only for their Hialeah Branch and personal experiences may differ. ** Español Recomiendo esta clínica con los ojos cerrados en comparación a las otras en Hialeah. Ofrecen muchos servicios a Sus Miembros.
