This has to be the saddest croquta preparada I’ve ever had. It came with 3 croquetas, it was all bread. You’re better off just going to Vicky bakery a couple doors down and making your own. The bacon looked like it was recooked. It’s overrated, go to Morro Castle!

Not a fan of this place. Ordered their famous arroz con pollo this past Sunday and was disappointed. The maduros/plantains were horrible and not fresh, hard as a rock. The chicken — or lack of chicken — was not good. I also ordered the sopa de pollo(chicken soup) and it did not taste good. It also did not taste fresh. Was hoping for better especially since it’s close by and I’m always hearing about their famous arroz con pollo on Sunday. Maybe it was an off day but I don’t think I’ll be giving it another chance.

Love breakfast here! They are normally pretty quick but my recent visit they were serving those who came after my boyfriend and I before us.

Hidden gem in Hialeah! I’ve only been twice, both on Sundays, with my grandfather — because he wanted the Arroz con Pollo, which is the special on Sundays. Their servings are generous, and the prices are great. The Arroz con Pollo is under $ 9(maybe even $ 7.75), and there’s at least two servings. It’s «a la chorrera» style, which means the rice is more wet(like a risotto) as opposed to the other version, which is dryer. Last time I went, I had the Pollo a la Plancha with maduros and congri. The chicken and rice was delicious, the maduros weren’t as good as the first time I went. The service was also great. Our waitress was very attentive. Overall, I’d recommend this place if you’re in the area or if you’re searching for a good cheap Arroz con Pollo on Sundays.

Awsome food service was good, I had the tasajo and it was authentic, the congri was ok, the sweet potatoes were delicious, it was very busy so the wait for the food was slightly long but worth the wait, the price was reasonable, the service wasnt bad, and the place seems clean!

4.00 $ breakfast you would think it will be tasteless or cheap quality. None of the above, everything from the serving portion to the taste are on point. I love their bacon, non greasy and extra crispy. For 4 bucks you get scrambled eggs, side of choice, French fries, tostadas and café con leche. My go to place every weekend for breakfast. Fuego!

Yoyito’s service before was great and the food was amazing, but lately for the last few visits the service and food is terrible the sugar jar, salt and pepper shakers are kedged up can’t be used. I don’t know who’s the cook. But they are not getting it right. I hope the owner does something about it

For 330pm on a weekday I was surprised when we arrived that it was full. I decided to wait about 10 minutes until a table became empty. Once they cleaned off a table the bargirls told me to have a seat but underneath on the floor was food that needed to be cleaned up. So much for cleanliness before seating ourselves. Right there you lost a star. That wasn’t the first it lost. I used to come here a lot to be honest and all the other times I didn’t have the problem of lack of service. We ordered empanadas de guava and queso. Came out nice and hot. Delicious when you took a bite right in. The mix of guava and queso is to die for. I ordered masas de puerco Frita with arroz con guizo de Mais — that was a special of the day along with sweet plantains that came with the plate. They lost an additional two stars with me with serving my food but without silverware nor napkins. Common sense? How am I going to eat? My hands? Also no refill on my water. I feel that it was just too out of control for the server to keep up I had two servers and didn’t know who to really tip. I didn’t want to tip to be honest because I swear the service and cleanliness lacked BIGTIME. I gave two stars cause ONLY the food was worth it. Maybe I’ll have better luck next time when I dine in but perhaps next time I’ll just order to take out. Until next time Yoyito’s. You should train your waitresses a little more. P.s cortadito was mmmmmm so good!

This place is so tiny & most of the time very crowded but it worth being squished in with 30 people. Authentic cuban food, everything from sandwiches to lechon & black beans. Awesome taste, friendly staff & i never get tired of going there. Mind you, my bf & i visit there often. Fav cuban place!(:

Not the greatest service in the world. They close at 10pm and I got there at 9:30pm. I didn’t order anything out of this world and it was to go but they totally made it known that they were annoyed by my presence there because they wanted to close early. So sorry that I’m hungry and that your sign says 10pm -.- The food itself was good. The congri was not the best, but will do if you’re hungry. The maduros were undercooked. I had breaded chicken and even though the chicken was a little flavorless, the breading totally made up for it. I thought the price was a tad much when I saw the small container, but when I opened it they had stuffed a huge ass piece of chicken and lots of rice in there, so its totally worth it because of the quantity. Overall I think it’s a good place to hit up as a last resort but apparently not at last minute lol

Our scrambled eggs and french fries came 25 minutes later than our milk and toast, on top of that the waitress was rude, unfriendly and 4 people were served before us, is sadly because this place is an Icon in this city for Cuban Food, not at all recommended.

Man, i LOVE cuban food but Yoyito on 49ST is so crowded you cant taste your food! Its not expensive, its food is OK, nicely served but its nothing out of this world. Although the Arroz con pollo is off the chain. The only thing that i really hate is how SLOW service is. I waited 40 minutes for my order to be taken. I go now every once in a blue moon. Staff can be a little more friendly(A Tip).

I really like the place for breakfast, I felt like being back home in Puerto Rico. The service was excellent and food on time, great for a quick stop. Ask for a the good cortadito you will ask for a second or one to go.

A coworker recommended this place to me so I gave it a shot. I can’t complain. I ordered sautéed vegetables and plantains. I was starving and I would have paid the extra to have this as a meal sized portion but It was served to me as if they had scooped out two sides to accompany an entrée. I didn’t know how to explain to the young woman that I wanted this as my meal because of the language barrier. I was STARVING and the vegetables were actually pretty fresh and tasty. I devoured what little food I had and was still quite hungry afterwards. When I went back again, I ordered them in larger portions and this time, they gave me more than enough. The food was fresh and as tasty as it could be for what it was. Service was quick and even with the language barrier, I still felt welcomed. This may be a lunch spot for me because my options in the area are all so unhealthy. At least I can get fresh veggies here.

Excellent. Inexpensive Cuban classics at very affordable prices. The dining room is decorated with pictures of visiting celebrities, Cuban vistas and assorted chachkies. Correct service in convenient location, you can have a hair cut and a psychic read after eating pan con lechon and flan.

Good, cheap Cuban food. What’s not to like? This was my first time at Yoyito’s. I hate the term«hole in the wall», but that is exactly what it is. We went on a Sunday for their famous Arroz con Pollo. It was good, just not ah-mazing. It was served piping hot, the portion I’ve was good, enough chicken but not as flavorful as I expected. My husband went with a basic breaded steak. It was very good and I really liked the breading. Their flan is creamy and tasty. Just not as delicious as the one that I make ;) Our server was nice and attentive for the most part. I hear that service can be hit or miss, so I guess we lucked out. It is slow however. It can take a while to even have your order taken. The wait can be long. There is no wait list. You wait in line. Packed like sardines. My claustrophobic self waited outside while my husband stood in line. Wait time was about ½ hour. Not too bad. BTW, as you eat you will be stared at by those in line. Very disconcerting. You can pratically feel eyes burning into you. Willing you to hurry the heck up. All in all, we had a nice meal. Nothing special, but tasty & filling.

Ive been to this place several times. My in-laws live down the road from it so once in a blue when we come to visit we will pick up some cuban sanwiches and fries. Its ok. Look, its Hialeah. There is no variety here what so ever. Its all beans, rice and cuban sandwiches every where you go. Seriously, im in no way exaggerating. This is all you get here. You just have to find the place that does your pallett right. I like this place for the quick cuban sandwich but id rather go to La Careta because they have bigger cuban sandwiches for about the same price.

(Please Note: The star issuance for this review is not based on their amazing food) Unilocal gives us the option of five stars. Some people see this as useless. However, once you look at it as an overall experience, the five stars will make all the sense in the world. It is not a large restaurant. It is simple with the expected décor one would find at any Cuban Restaurant in Hialeah. Their walls are filled with countless pictures of the famous people that have visited before, news articles and pictures of a Cuba that once was. It is very clean, simple and expected in these parts. * Your Menu: I would think it is wise for whomever is in charge of the restaurant to consider changing your menus. They are literally falling apart. If these are the menus you are handing-out to people of fame, that in itself is an embarrassment to Hialeah and to the famous people depicted. When you turn the menu to the back and read the bottom portion; beneath the broken plastic, the heartfelt story of how this restaurant was named and some of the family history is revealed. Unfortunately, if you do not speak Spanish, you are screwed. Even the least popular restaurants in Hialeah tell their story in English as well. Have someone translate it for you. It truly is a great story that everyone should read. * Service and why I strongly stand with that second star: I was here twice in one day. Although I have eaten food from here before and stopped for Cuban Coffee outside, I have never been inside the restaurant itself. Twice today, once for breakfast and once for an early dinner, I walked-out the front door without a single person taking the time to turn around and at least smile. Never forget, regular folk as myself are the ones that come here the most. Everyone was genuinely nice but, the feeling I got was, «Ok, you’re done BYE.» It was quite notable even from afar. Especially from the table across from me that were waiting and waiting for«something» and nobody ever came back after giving them their bill. Today I had: * Perico Ripiado — Scrambled Eggs with sautéed onions, peppers and tomatoes. This is served with a side of fries, toast and a café con leche. Everything was fresh and very good. * Crema de Malanga — One of the best I have had that I did not make myself. * Masas de Puerco Fritas(Fried Pork Chunks) — I have said this before in other reviews. If you want to review a Cuban Restaurant, try their pork. Hence, the reason I came back on the same day. I had this with Moros and Maduros. Everything was delicious. This poor pig was not dead for a long time before it was deep fried. * Flan — Absolutely delicious and perfect. A triumph. * Arroz con Leche — Again, another triumph. I am fully aware that to many of you it just doesn’t make any sense that I issued just two stars with such amazing food. Well, if you hover over the second star it reads, «Meh, I’ve experienced better.» Now take the entire dining experience into consideration. Yes, I’ve experienced better with service. It was obvious. Things to note and blah, blah, blahs(Some of these are important. Please take note:) * Arroz con Pollo a la Chorrera — This is their Signature Dish. Except for Sundays, this dish is limited to groups of ten people or more. Sundays is the day they serve it to everyone. This dish is amazing here. Me personally, considering the size of the restaurant, plan ahead. This takes the right time to cook to get it right. * Famous People — Firstly, thank you Famous People for coming to Hialeah to eat. I personally truly appreciate it. After all, we do have the most authentic and better Cuban Food in South Florida. Secondly, to the regular folk that come here, you will not see someone famous here all the time. It does happen but, it is not an «all the time» occurrence. If you do see one, please do not act ghetto? They are Human too. Let them enjoy the food as would you. Take the time to look at the pictures on their walls. Very well known peoples within the Hispanic Community have eaten here. * Parking — Parking is almost always a mission here. This restaurant is located in the corner of a very busy shopping center on a very busy street. If you see a spot, take it. * Language — Spanish and that is it. You«may» or may not find someone that speaks English here. I do not know really. Except for their story, the menu is fully bilingual. * Cuban Coffee — They boast about having the best in Hialeah. The times in the past I have stopped here, is to have my fix at their window. I do not want to say«the best» as there are other places I have not reviewed yet but, it is up there.
