Express Bakery

Service has improved since my last visit so updating my review to increase to 4 stars. Their food is good and nice place to grab a quick bite to eat.

I come here every time I visit miami. The arepas are fantastic.
I usually don’t like to get a lot of the bakery goods here but they did make me two fresh tequeños the last time I was in, which is rare in any bakery.
Their sauces are amazing!

I eat here all the time, it really close to my house. The quality of food is great, according to some Venezuelan friends, it’s pretty authentic. Best breakfast deals, so cheap, better Cuban breakfast than Cuban bakeries. The only downside is the service. The owner is nice but one of the workers had very poor customer service skills and turns away customers. I’ve seen it with my own eyes! If they are busy, good luck trying to get anything in a timely manner. Besides that, they rock!

So I ordered a cake for a friend’s birthday party last weekend. And I was VERY DISAPPOINTED :(I went in on Thursday to order a Dulce de Leche cake for Friday. I ordered the one that feeds 20 people for $ 31. It’s my friend’s favorite so I shelled out the cash. I asked them if they would make it on Thursday or Friday. They said they would make it first thing Friday morning so it would be fresh…
Well it was NOT fresh at all. After singing happy birthday and cutting into the cake with lots of excitement, we taste it and its SO DRY AND STALE!!! It’s supposed to be a very moist cake. I apologized to my friend, and her husband says to me… I am sorry I forgot to tell you that when you order you have to change something from the original recipe to ensure that the cake is made fresh! WHAAAAAAAT??? Seriously? You have got to be kidding me!!! It’s a shame that its a known fact that this bakery sells OLD CAKES all the time. If it wasn’t because I was so upset and threw the cake away, I would have brought it back to the bakery and insisted on my money back.
If I could give it negative stars I would.

Extremely dry cakes, It seems as if they sale cakes baked several days old. I have made the mistake of buying their stuff twice in 2 years. Will never buy from this place again! Ask for a tiramisu, I mean. How do you make such juice desert so dry? I couldn’t use a spoon, I had yo get a fork, unbelievable! But then again, is not the first time I’ve seen this from this place.

I come here every weekend for breakfast. It’s authentic Venezuelan food, the carne mechada empanadas are super tasty. They have a variety of options for breakfast with eggs, arepas, cheeses and a choice of meat. If you’re in the mood for a sandwich, I recommend trying the express #2, but ask for it with Cuban bread.
The milkshakes are also pretty delicious, my personal favorite is the mango. The only downside to this place is that the preparation is inconsistent depending on who’s attending you.
