My favorite place to get Cuban food! Food is cheap and delicious. Service is always friendly, even though we’re not Spanish speakers. It’s cash only, but there is an ATM inside.

I have been coming to this place since I could walk the food is amazing but the service and attention has really gone down the only reason I keep coming back is because the food is great and cheap but customer service is horrible but u can expect that being in Hialeah, I still would highly recommend this place it is the best Cuban restaurant in the area it kicks la Carreta and chicks ass!

Very decent place to grab a bite to eat on a budget. The food is cheaply priced but good to eat and is pretty authentic.

Oye meng, you wanna go far and full with $ 10. Look no further. The Pan con Bistec here can feed a football team. Thirsty? Get the guarapo. No beer here but they don’t need. This place opened in 66 and has been a Hialeah staple since. The mariquitas are shaved so thinly and fried so perfectly that the store-brand type seem like a sin to even walk past. Let’s focus on the fact that there DOUBLE-STEAK on that sandwich. Basically it’s lunch and dinner portioned meat nestled in deliciousness for the crazy bargain of $ 7.00. Dude, wicked. Don’t want steak? No problem! They have a service window that you can buy cigarettes, coffee or whatever else you’d like from the menu. This place is gold. Oh, and the Cuba placemats let you sit and stare at all the little zones of our Caribbean island while your food is cocinando. Hialeah, I love you. Bro. #Dale

When one is hispanic, they tend to judge hispanic restaurants pretty harshly. Morro Castle makes it to my list of great hispanic restaurants, mainly because of the breakfast. If you are looking for cheap breakfast thats in the heart of every hispanic household, this place does it right! Imagine this: ham, eggs, tostada and café con leche(coffee) all for roughly 4 dollars. If thats not amazing I dont know what is! The only down side: they dont take credit or debit cards. Nothing major just bring a few dollars to cover you meal and you should be fine. Overall, good stuff!

Morro Castle is one of the best and most authentic Cuban restaurants in South Florida. Yeah, sure, most of the time the Cuban women serving us have an attitude but it adds to the charm! You can’t expect five star service in the middle of Hialeah. The Cuban bread with butter they bring out must be sprinkled with crack. It’s as simple as that and it’s just so damn good! I always get the palomilla steak with onions and cilantro with white rice and black beans. A nice, simple Cuban plate done perfectly. The steak is as thin as a sheet of paper and a lot of the times the meal doesn’t fill me up(This girl knows how to eat though). The white rice is perfect and fluffy. I also occasionally eat the frita and it is delicious! Their chicken tenders and burgers are also a great choice! It may be 2015, but Morro Castle stillllll doesn’t accept credit cards. They do have an ATM though which charges you an organ or first-born child, but for this food, it’s worth it.

Food: we got the desayunos. The food was good, but cold. The bread was chewy. The café con leche was also just warm. We ordered another round of café which came piping hot. Service: Maria is the nicest waiter. She is friendly and accommodating, and seemed to know exactly what we wanted. But because there were so many tables, she hardly came around and we were left waiting when we wanted to order another coffee get the check. Environment: comfortable with a electronic display board that hadn’t been setup, so it flashes«display, demonstration, animations, and then a date in 1996.» Bathrooms are clean. Other notes: cash only. Almost all the tables are full, and looked like a lot of regulars, so they must be doing something right.

One of the oldest restaurants in hialeah and it’s still here for a reason. This is where to go when you want some cuban food like abuela makes. I have many fond memories of my grandfather bringing me here as a child. The food is good and cheap. The portions are generous. They offer daily specials that are a great value. The breakfast is also on point. My personal favorite is there bistec de palomilla and the club sandwich. I also love the milkshakes. Don’t forget to bring cash cause that’s all they accept. No debit or credit.

If there’s one place to stop by for«old school Cuban Hialeah» is Morro Castle. This place STILL doesn’t take credit cards(but they have an ATM inside). Whips up the best shakes and cafecitos around. and they’re open late. I usually get the Cuban or Medianoche sandwich for food. but always always go for coffee.

If I were writing this review a year ago, I probably would have given it five stars. Morro used to be one of my tried and true go-to places for fairly priced Cuban food. But my last visit had just too many things go wrong to ever justify visiting again. Albeit service has never been consistent here. I’d never had a full dining experience where the server never thought to refill my water, either. In total I spent 70+ minutes on an slow Monday night, with barely any glances made in my table’s direction. As for the food, my friend and I both ordered pan con bistec with the steak far too dry. They do not include lettuce and tomatoes in their Cuban sandwiches, or at least it didn’t look like mine had any in it. I have an iron stomach and I was sick all the next day.

Shakes get 5 Stars(Tried, Wheat, Guanabana, Coffee) all Awesome. Croquetas get 1 Star(liquidy, store-bought frozen croquetas, stay away) Fritas get 3 stars(Solid, but I’ve had better) Churros get 3 stars(they were a little undercooked(pale) for my taste) Special of the day(Sunday) 4 stars(lots of food, good quality for $ 7) Will give it another shot for sure.

Great place to go to since it’s close to home and they will have your food ready pretty fast. The daily specials are also good. The only downside is that they do not take any credit cards and I’m sure they lose a lot of business because of that but that is how they have chosen to operate. I would recommend this place just keep in mind that it is not fancy, it’s great for picking up and a cheap breakfast.

This little spot in hialeah is a corner stone in this community and close to being a landmark in my opinion. You can have a fast traditional Cuban breakfast here for about $ 4, that will leave you ready for a nap. This place is not about the quality compared to a restaurant. It more about eating something close to home, close to your roots. You will be treated as if they know you from the minute you walk in. During today’s visit, I had a «Media Noche»(Midnight Sandwich) Sweet bread toasted, tons of Ham, pork leg shavings, Swiss cheese, light mayo and mustard, and hold the pickles, and my hubby went with the«Frita» Cubans version of a Burger, Burger bread with a burger, sausage based, with yuca chips and light ketchup. $ 8! Will continue to visit this restaurant every time we are ear the area.

Last night we were in the area and I decided to give them a try. I was impressed. Although it’s small and old, the hot chocolate is amazing. Not to thick and not to thin. The churros were delicious and u add the sugar yourself. At .15 a churro u can order as many as u want and it definitely doesn’t break the bank. Perfect dessert for a cold night. If u r in the area stop by, u won’t regret it

This updated review is solely for their Fritas(Cuban Burger:) It has been a while since I come here just for their Fritas. I ordered the usual, two Fritas and a Batido de Trigo(Puffed Wheat Shake.) I always order two because it is no secret that they have always been smaller than their main competitors whom serve Fritas. You are slipping greatly. One of them, I’m guessing it had«some» meat because it did taste like a Frita. The other, although it did have meat was lacking in the unique flavor it once possessed. I was starving, otherwise, I would have taken some pictures to prove my disappointment. The classic potatoes that go on every Frita, were stale and flavorless. Almost tasted as if they had been refried. I shan’t be returning here for Fritas. This might explain why the restaurant was empty at 7:00 p.m.

Solid four star experience for the Gringa who walked up to the window for a Café Con Leche… and wasn’t treated like the Gringa who walked up to the window for a Café Con Leche. Everyone was smiling and nice, even with my obviously non-native Spanish. Everything inside looked clean and all the food I saw all looked delicious. My Café Con Leche definitely hit the spot. Next trip to Miami, if I find myself in Hialeah again(gasp!) I’d definitely want to try Morro Castle for some real food!

When it’s freezing in Hialeah — that’s anything below 60 degrees — you come by, chat with the grandmotherly waitresses at the ventanita. You get health advice from the other customers — like how taking off your jacket will give you a cold. Then you get your café con leche, your churros and all is well with the world They even have a «People love us on Unilocal» sticker… Daleee!
