Like subs? Cuban sandwiches? Put them together and you have sarussi café. This is the type of place you come to when you’re looking for good cheap eats with no frills. For under 10 dollars you will fill that grumbly belly with a delicious pork, ham, and cheese sandwich smothered in secret sauce and soft bread with a garlic coating. Mmmm mmmm good. Biggest drawback, not a visually appealing place and customer service can lack at times. But if what you want is a sandwich popping with flavor for a reasonable price, sarussi may just be the spot for you !

What can I say? No English speaking here or do they dare even want to try as I am trying to understand but she was speaking too fast. Too early for other food on the menu? Ok fine. Looking at breakfast menu… Maybe no bread for the egg sandwich? *sigh* –walked out. Never coming back!

I was in South Beach and stopped by on drive back to Tampa. I was visiting Florida from Texas so this was my first Cuban sandwich ever. My coworker has lived in Florida and she recommended the Haileah location but it was out of the way. This location seemed very local and more casual. The staff was super Cuban and super nice! Loved the whole cultural experience! I tried the Bistec sandwich which has some crunchy chips(?) inside. It was delicious, especially the special sauce! It was cheap, so I had to pay cash since they have a $ 10 credit card minimum. I would recommend this location– great menu, nice staff, and it’s cheap. I rated it 4 out of 5 since I don’t have another Cuban sandwich restaurant to compare it to.

This place has one of the most delicious sandwiches I’ve ever eaten in my life. I only come here for takeout and to order their specialty. It’s a hybrid between a Cuban sandwich and an Italian with special brea, a mojo type sauce all baked in a oven until the bread and other ingredients are just right. My review is based on just that item – never had anything else here.

Pretty good sandwiches(steak/pork/cuban) and churrasco are some of the selection. They have a unique taste because of the sauce that they use. I had the steak with some fries… if your on budget and want to get a quick bite this is a good place to start. Nothing fancy, nothing too special just tasty sandwiches. The service was very good, the staff very attentive for such a little whole in the wall. I hope you speak Spanish because I doubt anyone that’s working speaks English but no worries they got pictures so you’ll get an idea of the food your deciding on. Under $ 10

It’s a different type of sandwich with a secret sauce. Overall good, but not my favorite. The service was good and they have the typical cuban setup with stools and small tables.

Love their subs! Very delicious food, I usually go for the regular sub and it can feed up to 3– 4 people, depends how hungry you all are.

I stand corrected and will find a way to take a picture of me eating the Tweet where I said I didn’t like this restaurant. I’m a man of my word and will find a way to make it happen somehow. So, yesterday I wanted to go anywhere I hadn’t been to before, or, in a long time for breakfast. Sarussi, being close to home, was an obvious choice since it was pouring pretty badly yesterday. I had been here many years ago and honestly, I was so drunk that day that anything I said about this restaurant before this review should not be taken to heart. For breakfast, I had: Desayuno #4 beefsteak with 2 eggs sunny side up, onions, homemade potatoes, toasted bread and coffee with milk. It was very nice and filling. Large enough in size where I wasn’t hungry until yesterday evening. The nicest part about this breakfast is the thinly sliced tomato adorning the plate. I really hope it was intended to be eaten. I’m assuming yes since they were ripe enough and fresh in flavor. All in all, it was a nice filling breakfast. They, too, have more selections for breakfast than other Cuban restaurants in Hialeah. Then, I tried their toast. Me: ¿Señora, ustedes hacen su propio pan aquí?(Do you make your own bread here?) Waitress, with a huge smile and emphatically pointing at their ovens: ¡SÍ! Todos los días.(YES! Every day.) Touché Sarussi, it was noticeable from tasting the bread alone. One thing I do know about, is the taste of food which is homemade using fresh ingredients. So, long story short, I ended-up ordering two subs to-go. 1. Original-smoked ham, baked pork, mozzarella cheese, pickles and the secret sauce and 2. Pierna De Cerdo-homemade baked pork, mozzarella cheese, cooked onions, tomatoes, potato sticks and the secret sauce(copied & pasted from their menu online.) Obvious fresh ingredients and made daily. I was there at nine in the morning and already they were putting pre-made sandwiches in the cooler. I am more than sure they run out of them by the end of the day. One thing which is obvious and needs to be pointed out, these are not Cuban Sandwiches, per se, if you are in search of a literal interpretation of a «Cuban Sandwich.» These are subs with an Hispanic twist. The«secret sauce,» however, is indeed very Cuban and garlic based. Ok, so yeah, between mother and I, we devoured both large sandwiches that evening. Worth the trip to have one of the sandwiches on their menu, at least once, in your lifetime if you want something different from the norm out there. I will be back. Lest I forget, it was early in the morning and she assured me, with a huge smile, there was no problem whatsoever making me my sandwiches. Restaurant was spotless, waitresses were beyond nice, knowledgeable of the menu and blah blah blah. If they are ever really busy, parking here can be a challenge. It is inside a small shopping center on a busy corner of Hialeah with other shops sharing the space. The outside of the shopping center can use a light spruce up. It’s time.

Lets face it, Sarussi makes yummy sandwiches. They are also pretty fair about portions and give more than enough to fill you up. This particular sarussi is far one of the worst in terms of service. There are a few bar chairs in the front and the waitresses are never attentive and let you linger there for a while. If it weren’t for the sandwiches, there would be no saving this place. I have been here for breakfast as well and the food is typically tasty. Just don’t expect a polite staff, just order and you will be alright!

Sarussi, excuse me~ Perdóneme While visiting uncle Wallace a stop at Sarrussi is necessario. The parking lot is crunched tight during lunch and expect to wait. Too many lazy drivers who park on or crossing the line grrrr. Food to go can be ordered out the front window or inside. Staff used fresh gloves for prepping sandwich. I prefer no mayo since I’m trying to get by with less fats but still enjoy some of the great tasting sandwich flavors. Beer is just at the gas station a short walk next door. Life is good, stay thirsty my friends. Food. 4 Ambiance. 3 Service. 3 Location. 3 Value. 4

No speak-ie english. No problem, just point. I’m a big fan of the SW8 st store so I have my biases. This one is the closest to my home and easy to take folks who have me never had the sandwich. Honestly, the original is the only sandwich I have ever ordered. See no reason to try anything else.

Awful Cuban sandwich mostly bread and not even Cuban bread. They are frugal with the ham and cheese. Place looks dirty. Morro castle is cheaper and better quality
