Great food, and they were especially helpful with what to order and order quantities. Will definitely order from here again for take-out.

Top notch for the Cedar Rapids area which is not exactly a culinary hot bed but this place shines. The Chicken shawarma is remarkable and the hummus is very good not to mention you get a huge container that leaves you with hummus for the week.

I stopped here yesterday with some friends and ordered the Gyro combo. It was delicious. The fries were also very good. The only reason this doesn’t get a 5 is b/c the tables were dirty & I had to clean it myself. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Randomly tried Pitaz and I can say I am more than impressed. Great food and great staff. Will definitely be going back! Had the Greek Salad with Chicken and it was one of the best I’ve had in CR. Quick easy fantastic lunch spot!

Always fresh and has great flavor. They have options that you cannot find around here like tabbouleh, kafta, fattoush and shawarma. Love this place.

This was one of the worst meals I’ve ever eaten. The teenager who took my order raved about the falafel. She said she craves it on her days off and eats it every day she works. I want to buy her a gift certificate to Oasis Falafel in Iowa City so she learns how wrong it is to sell the mushy, flavorless subpar crap she serves. The only thing that could explain the texture of the falafel and hummus is that they’re using canned chickpeas.

I’ve been coming to this spot for years and am ashamed that I’ve never taken the time to write a review. Maybe it’s because I fail to venture far from my favorites on the menu. On my first visit, I had the typical gyro and a side of hummus(good but not earth shattering). Then the following visit I tried the chicken shwarma… and never turned back. It only took me a couple of bites to get over the fact that they put french fries and pickle on their wrap.(Yes, I said FRENCHFRIES!) At first glance, I thought«Sheer blasphemy! Americanized Mediterranean food! How can this be good?» Well Americanized or not, it’s Delicious! My usual is the small chicken shwarma platter with a Mediterranean salad in the side. The salad(Romain with tomatoes, red onion, cucumber and vinaigrette was simple but extreemly fresh and the perfect accompaniment. They also have a frequent dinners program utilizing«Belly». It’s an handy smart phone app so you’ll be likely to have it on hand!

Not sure how many hundreds of fat grams and calories just entered my body, but I just could not tear myself away from eating every single fried pita chip and every last scoop of the homemade hummus that constituted my «side» of hummus. I am totally full and satisfied from the perfectly crunchy and salty chips dunked in the smooth, well seasoned hummus. My huge«small» gyro sits in front of me still wrapped in its foil. Lunch tomorrow. Pita’z runs a smooth business and has successfully figured out how to take orders, deliver food, and handle long lunch lines. Overflow seating is available at the adjacent coffee shop, but many people are taking their food to go. Lots of veggie options will make your mixed lunch buddy group happy. And they serve Coke products. WIN! I need to come back here more often.

Not bad. Service is great, prices are fair. Pita is the very thin type, but good. Mediterranean salad is dressed absolutely perfectly. Falafel is too spicy for my taste but the texture is acceptable. I have to agree with a previous reviewer – it’s good but not great. I will stop in if I’m hungry and nearby, but won’t drive out of my way like I will for Zaytoon or Oasis in IC.

Excellent Gyros. Great hummus, but I recommend the bread and not the chips. $ 10 got me a large gyro and hummus with either bread or chips. Authentic and yummy stuff! Lots on the menu!

I’ve had many items from their menu over the years and overall everything is good but not great. The two things that have really stood out are the babba ganoush and garlic sauce. Both some of the best I’ve ever had. The restaurant is a bit of a dive. The staff is friendly.

The best Mediterranean food I have ever had. Baba Ganoosh is awesome! Really liked the Shish Tawook too. Have it spicy. Not really spicy hot as much a few extra flavors. Really good.

Chicken Shawarma! Served with fries and pickles. The BEST thing I’ve eaten in Iowa. I will go back here as much as possible and bring as many friends/family as I can.

I’ve only had the gyro plate(gyro meat with choice of sides) and I thought the gyro meat was some of the best I’ve ever had. This place probably only deserves three stars, but I feel like I should give them a bump for doing Mediterranean food in CR. The reason I am wavering is because the last time I ate there they ran out of rice, which was really annoying, especially since I had invited a guest to lunch with me and this place was my choice. Rice is as much of a staple for that kind of food as it is for Chinese food, so imagine if your local Chinese told you they were out of rice. I would def go back for the gyros, but wouldn’t tolerate another rice incident ;)

If you’re fan of Mediterranean food you’ll like Pitaz. I got the large Mediterranean salad and added gyro. It was huge, which is a big deal for someone with an insatiable appetite like me. The gyro was tender and they weren’t stingy with it. It’s close to my hotel, so I’ll be back many times.

I feel like the owners of Pita’z have the unfortunate fate of being really good Mediterranean cooks in an area where people aren’t all that exposed to Mediterranean food. I say that because they make absolutely awesome gyros(with lamb that isn’t at all dry /stringy and the perfect ratio of meat to other fillings), but then they have odd menu items like philly cheesesteak, which I can only assume are attempts to appease less adventurous eaters. I’ll definitely be back, because the gyros were awesome, and they have plenty of other true Mediterranean options. I just think it’s a shame that a place like this needs to put a cheeseburger on the menu where a lamb tagine should be, because nobody in Cedar Rapids would order lamb tagine.
