I love this track! Why? Mainly because it is very close to base housing and within walking distance to go have a good run or walk on the track. Working out on the track makes it easy to «measure» when you do laps. There isn’t much shade, but there are a few trees nearby if needed to get out of the Hawaiian heat. The bowling alley is right next door if you need to buy a drink in case you forget yours. The only reason I marked it down to 4 stars is due to the lack of restrooms. Now for some extra info… 1. The military uses this for their PT test. When doing so they will use the inside 3 lanes and you need to use the outside lanes. They will ask you to move over if you don’t…it’s fine… we all«get it». BUT, BEADVISED… the military personnel are not as courteous to you… they will stand in your way of where you need to run or walk and won’t get out of the way… only give you dirty looks like you don’t belong there. I am a former member of the military myself and I gotta tell ya… this is the first place I have ran into such rudeness from the active duty and the lack of compassion for sharing a stupid lane in the track. Don’t let them get to you though… you are there to work out too and in many cases you are probably in better shape and could be an inspiration to others. 2. Great place to watch the air show when it is at Hickam instead of going to the actual flight line. 3. When the pro bowl is in town they will do a practice out there a few days before the game.

Each lap at this track is ¼ mile, so counting your distance is easy. The track has 8 lanes and bleachers on both sides. In the center of the track is a football field that can be reserved. The track has it’s own parking lot and there’s overflow parking across the street. The track is red, so it does stain the bottoms of shoes. Also, the final curve(when turning away from the flight line) is very windy. The eighth lane has some damage and the inner lanes pool water when it rains a lot.
