I have been a regular patron of the Hickory Wine Shoppe, and have always felt welcome and comfortable. But, this last visit was quite nice. We were served with grace and patience in new comfortable seating. The sushi was great as usual. I will be back! Thank you for a pleasant evening after a long stressful week!

My husband and I have been here several times and we really enjoy the atmosphere here. They have a great bar indoors and outdoor seating that is dog friendly. They even provide blankets in the cooler months to use in the evenings. Their selection is amazing and they are great at making recommendations on beer and wine when you don’t know what you like or want to expand your palette. I love their cheese tray as well. Goat Cheese with honey (its simple but sometimes that’s all it takes for good flavor)!

There was once a bottle shop on the square. There was friendly staff. They were open and friendly. The service was good. Now things are different. Accusations. Cold indifferent service. Unwelcoming and cold.

I love this place.
The staff is very friendly and helpful when picking wine. The prices are reasonable.
You can buy a bottle to take home or stay there and enjoy the bottle (after paying a corking fee). They also have a large beer selection.
The only thing I have had there to eat is their cheese plate (delicious) and their sushi (delicious, but only available Friday and Saturday nights). I wouldn’t come here for a full meal, but I usually go here pre-​dinner.
Always have a good time at this place, but maybe that because I always get drunk. Cheers.

It’s even better now… one of my favorite spots to sit outside and enjoy a beverage on a nice afternoon /​evening. Oh, and a great spot to pick up some great wine and /​or beer for home. Knowledgable staff can provide good recommendations too!

This is the BEST place to get a drink in Hickory. They have beautiful outdoor seating right on the downtown mall area. The staff are the best, and all are very friendly and accommodating, opening your beer and often filling your glass, as well as bringing you a new cold beer if you’re sitting outside. This is a place where you walk in, and there are two upright coolers filled with very good beers and frosted mugs. To the left and the back are racks of assorted wines to choose from. They have a good local selection as well as a worldly selection.
They do close a bit early, around 7 PM, but luckily the Tap Room bar is just down the way.
