Me and my wife just left Luk’s. It was referred to me by a fellow Yankee and I’ve had lunch here on several occasions. But my wife has never been. She was very impressed both with the food and the owner! I’m not your regular NC reviewer saying this is a great Philly cheesesteak! I’m from philly and have had cheesesteaks from the people who invented the sandwich. The one at Luk’s is as good as ANY you will get up north! Period. Some might be turned off by the limited menu. But don’t be. So many restaurants have too many menu choices sacrificing quality. Why? If you make 5 things great just make those five things! It makes your ingredients fresher and your customers happier! And last but certainly not least, Monday and Tuesday are $ 5 days! Seriously just ate for $ 13(me and my wife). Come eat here NOW. Oh and owners are nicest people you’ll ever meet in your life despite being Yankees. Don’t hold that against them!

Walked in the door with my wife & I could smell the grease. A little whole in the wall, if it was on drive-ins dinners & dives, it would be the third. My wife can be a stickler for atmosphere, so I was concern. She ordered a turkey sub, I had a burger. She love the sub, and I’ll be saving money at 5 guys, it a better burger for a better price!

It is what it is and, for that, it’s good enough. He’s got a griddle and a fryer, he makes the patties by hand, and you buy the Coke in a can.

Good prices, the half cheesesteak was huge, and I like that you can get drinks for $ 1. Not too much healthy food here though, it’s more of a greasy spoon type place. Counter service, nice and friendly, pretty big place, there was one other customer when we stopped in on a random weekday during a road trip but I can see where it might get busy for lunch.

Super friendly. Felt like family when we walked in. Best Phili cheesesteaks in area? Well, hate to say it, but not even close. Just kinda meh. Bread was decent, but the meat and cheese seemed frozen and processed.

The cheesesteak at Luk’s was incredible. My wife and I split a whole cheesesteak and left very full and satisfied.

Luk’s Sandwich shop is slowly gaining the popularity that they so richly deserve. I came on Wednesday, cheeseburger day, and the restaurant was inundated with customers and the phone was ringing off the hook. Somehow Curtis and Maria got all of the dine-in and take out orders filled in a timely fashion. Their call-in business is sizeable. The cheese steaks and pambazos are literally being ordered by the dozen for takeout orders. The daily cheeseburger special was close to being sold out at 12:45 pm. Why? Because they are amazing! I had a craving for a Mexican pambazo sandwich, which is a Mexican street sandwich. These things are too large to pick up, so I ate mine with the knife and fork provided. At $ 5.00 a Pambazo is great value meal. Maria is Hispanic and she makes a killer Pambazo sandwich, torte, or Huarache. Sodas come in COLD cans and they are $ 1.00 per can. They will gladly furnish one with a cup of pellet ice upon request. Luk’s carries both Pepsi and Coke products… finally someone in touch with reality. Luk’s bills themselves as having the BEST cheesesteak in North Carolina, and a half cheesesteak is all that I can handle at one sitting. These cheesesteaks are packed with meat and fillings and they’re GIGANTIC. Curtis uses legit sirloin steak to prepare his Philly style cheesesteaks, not Steak-Ums. Ask him and he will walk to the fridge and show you. Curtis makes a Philly«wit»(with Cheese Whiz) as his default cheesesteak, or he will make a mozzarella version if you prefer that instead. Today… he gladly made a half and half cheese steak for one new customer(one half of each style.) Luk’s runs a sandwich card reward system, which Curtis keeps up with at the register. Repeat customers are appreciated(and rewarded.) If Luk’s Sandwich Shop gets any more recognition for their good food, or if the sandwich shop ever gets one mention from media or magazines, Curtis is going to have to hire more help! As it is, there is often a line of people waiting to order. Every table was full in the main dining room today. Burgers used to sell out each Wednesday and due to customer demand, Curtis has expanded«burger day» to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The ONLY negative that I can imagine is that since there are(currently) only two people fulfilling orders, wait times can be ten to fifteen minutes for one’s food. If one is on an extremely tight lunchtime schedule, I would take this into consideration. This ISN’T fast food, this is GOOD food! SR is currently 96.0%. The success is richly deserved!

This was the best cheese steak I have ever had. Very friendly staff and great prices!
