So delicious! Best samosas and curry chicken I’ve ever had. The peppered chicken dish was also very good. There’s not much going on for ambiance, but the food makes up for it.

I absolutely loved this place. A small restaurant with amazing food and service. I went to this place this weekend with a couple of friends and I can say all of us liked the restaurant. We ordered Malai kabab, Pudina ghosht, Chicken amritsari, variety of naan breads and amritsari khoya lassi. Malai kabab were delicious. The chicken was tender and rightly cooked and the chutney was nice as well. The Pudina Ghosht was amazing. The ghosht was cooked to perfection, and wasn’t thready at all. The chicken amritsari was nice to taste as well. The khoya lassi tasted really fresh and sweet. The portions were adequate and the lady serving us was really nice as well. I would rate this as my favorite in Hicksville

Best Indian food we’ve had on Long Island. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. Don’t let the storefront appearance scare you off — it’s good!

I was told by one of my friend that the food quality has changed to I went to give this restaurant another shot. To my surprise there has been a drastic change In food, so I am updating my review and stars. Changing from one to five as they deserve it now. I eat from here once a week atleast now. Every food item I have tasted so far is great — malai kofta, dal, chicken biryani etc. I would highly recommend this place !!!

I came here last night with my bro &SIL for dinner. The place was empty(which should have been a signal for us but we were hungry and in the mood for punjabi food). We were greeted by this lady who was sweet and gave us water. It was clear that she didn’t speak English well as she stumbled on her words just asking us if we wanted water. I thought she would send over our server. She comes back and asks us if we were ready to order. I asked for her suggestion on whether I should get the Chilly Paneer or Paneer Tikka(both are my fav but wanted her input) she replies«well both good». So I just ordered the Chilly Paneer and my brother ordered some Kabab. She left to put the order in. Came back with the app’s and asked what we wanted for dinner. I said Paneer Butter Masala and two Naans.(one for me and one for my SIL). My bro ordered Chick Saag and a Roti. She repeated the order and kept saying Saag Paneer, we said no Chicken Saag. Shortly after our entrees come, naan/roti, onions/pickles, rice and one Butter Paneer. We waited for 5 mins to see if she was going to bring the Chicken dish. Finally we waited 10 mins and my brother asked her«If you didn’t put the order in for the Chicken dish, please cancel we are almost done». She said«sorry the manager forgot to put it in» my brother said to forget it. 5 mins later, she brings the subji over. He tried it and the Saag and the chicken were stone COLD! He calls the lady over and points out that the entrée was cold and told her NOTTOBRING A REPLACEMENT. At that point we were almost done eat and she walks over with another dish. Since she brought it, he tired it but at that time was already full. When we got the bill, they didn’t have the common sense or the business decency to take the Chicken dish off our bill. What a disgrace, 1) hire people that speak English & can take a proper order and 2) take some Business/Hospitality Ethics class. We will never go back and tell people not to waste their time/money and not risk their health going here. If they serve cold chicken, god knows what else they do back there.

Very authentic Punjabi food. Was travelling and came across this gem of joints. Tried lot of Indian restaurants, but this place is best. Service was very good and owners were friendly and accommodating. Keep up the good work

Mmmm love the naan and chicken tikka. Great food and they are very quick. Palak paneer is so creamy and delicious. Tasty food. You won’t regret eating here! I’ve had almost everything on the menu and it’s so good! My mouth is watering just thinking about it :)

It is not difficult to find good Indian food in Nassau County. But sometimes a place stands out. Been here a few times and really like it. Excellent samosas. Best butter chicken I’ve ever had. Goat masala was awesome. Curry chicken was great as well. If you want the real deal, you won’t be disappointed here.

This place is super authentic. We ordered some paneer tikka and tangri chicken. The paneer had big pieces, was charred nicely and was very soft and flavorful. The chicken was also made in the tandoor and had great grill marks on it and was flavorful. Then for main we had three kinds of naans: onion, garlic and another one which had sesame seeds and onion seeds on it. The last naan was excellent, very crunchy and thin. The naans were not thick which is good. They were all thin and crispy and nicely buttered. We ended with malai ice cream which had a great almond caramel crunch on it. The waiter was very kind and quick with his service. Reminds me of eating at an actual dhaba on the roads of Punjab. Very authentic and excellent food. Give it a go!

Unless you’re ordering off the lunch specials, the prices are too high $ 14 for curries, $ 9 appetizers, $ 3 naan. The food is ok but unless you’re getting the lunch specials, it’s just way overpriced especially considering the kind of restaurant this is. The seats are hard and covered in slippery plastic and the entire thing shift around on the ground making for very uncomfortable booths.

I went this place for the first time. I simply looooved the food. The owner recommended me malai chicken methi. And it was worth it. Also do try the chicken tikka Masla with the nan bread ! I would recommend everybody that it’s worth a try. You won’t get disappointed !

One of the best dining options amongst many Indian establishments around Hicksville. Food is unapologetically Indian with a very retro vibe. Movie posters of Sholay and classic Indian movies adorn the walls. Service is prompt and courteous. Food is spectacular. We ordered Amritsari mutton and an assortment of naan– highly recommended. They’re open till Midnight! Which is hard to find in the vicinity. It’s a family owned and operated establishment– I wish the owners the very best.

So i walk in the place, just stand there for 3 mins. I should’ve walked out but I gave the place a chance because of the good reviews. A Punjabi guy walks out the kitchen, looks at us and tells us to have a seat. So my family of 3 sits in a red plastic booth table. We waited some more. The guy brings us glasses then water then menus after requesting. We quickly order as their menu has a handful of items. We ordered 2 lassis, 1 coke, 1 chole bhatura, 1 malai kebab(won’t mentioned the rest because we didn’t even stay for it. Mango lassi was super salty, Amritsar Lassi was watery and warm, Chole Bhatura was good just the portion was way too small, Malai Kebab wasn’t cooked to order as stated. It was reheated. So when we mentioned this to the new claiming owner he went to the back to grab a fork. HEATEOUTOFMYPLATE! I’m done. Dropped some cash on the table and left. The owner follows us and tells us to come back. Yeah okay I’m good. Now I know why this place is empty. Keep the money as good luck because sardarji you’re going to need it when you close down. Horrible experience horrible food horrible owner. Coke was on point though.

just went to this new Indian dhaba style restaurant the other day and have to say I think I found my new Indian spot. great taste at affordable prices. we started with the tandoori fish(wasn’t on the menu but they made it for us). which was grilled salmon. absolutely delicious. for our main course we ordered paneer methi malai and chicken curry. both amazing. and the best part were the naan. thin and crispy! tried the garlic naan, plain naan, and onion kulcha. garlic naan was definitely the best! definitely will be going back to try their breakfast as well!

For a very good and reasonably priced Indian meal, you may want to check out this fairly new entry to the many Hicksville Indian restaurants. Started with vegetable samosas which were different than what I’m use to. Instead of peas and potato, these were filled with cauliflower, peas and onion. Different and very good. Next we had chicken seekh kebobs for only $ 2 each. Very well spiced and full of flavor. Since we felt like eating like pigs tonight, chicken tikka masala and daal makhni with naan and rice followed. Both delicious and packed a mild heat to them. Hopefully this place sticks around a while, it is tucked away on East Marie St across from the fire station so you might pass it up. I hope to get to come back again because the food is very well done and much better and cheaper than the competition

I had the CHICKENTIKKAMASALLA over rice. My thoughts: Food: $ 4.99 is a great price for what I got, which was a lot of take-out food. It was very fragrant/spicy, which has it’s pluses and negatives. Would have preferred for the rice to have been separate because there was a heckuva lot of sauce. Also would have preferred more chicken. But again: $ 4.99 Service: The couple who I can only assume are the owners were super hospitable, including asking me if I would like water or a seat while I waited for my order, which wasn’t a long wait. The cashier seemed a little cranky/non-smiley. Atmosphere: Little place, feels like you were invited into someone’s home which is nice. People were happy. Clean and interesting. I would order from here again. I especially love that it is open so late.

I really can’t knock this place, the lunch specials are a great value. I basically just had a delicious platter of chicken tikka over rice with some onion and peppers for street cart prices; $ 5.99. They’re on grubhub and eat24 for convenience and you can place an order and pick it up in a few minutes. The guy at the counter was incredibly nice. The place itself while small still has a little charm to it. There’s a few booth’s to the left and a few tables for two to the right. My order wasn’t quite ready yet but they welcomed me to have a seat while I wait. I was the only one there anyway so it wasn’t an issue. The wait wasn’t long at all. Just enough time for me to check in on Unilocal and snap a few pics to go along with my review. I asked for white sauce because I usually get that at the restaurant I typically order chicken tikka from near my home but they didn’t have any. They gave me some yogurt in a pint container though. The yogurt was yummy and their intentions were good. I don’t think that sauce is native to their cuisine anyway which is likely why he wasn’t sure what I was asking for. If you are placing a big order it may be wise to get one of their catering trays. The prices are very affordable but are take out only. Before I even tasted my food the initial scent that came out of the platter once I opened the lid was fantastic. The chicken was nice and juicy and seasoned well, not too spicy. I could stand it to be a little hotter so I think I will let them know next time. The pieces were all white meat. It was presented nicely as you can see in my photo with spices and pepper and red onion as garnish on a bed of plain white basmati rice. The rice wasn’t very oily either which is always a plus. Some restaurant’s just go overboard on the oil in the rice. There was also plenty of rice to go around. They filled the platter with it to the brim. Not as much meat but a good amount of chunks for the price. You can’t really expect that much at these prices. They don’t accept credit cards at the actual restaurant so if you need to use your card order through grubhub or eat24 and pay online prior to arrival. At prices like these I’ll be sure to return and next time I will probably bring some of my co-workers too. We are always looking for good lunch deals in the area.

Finally a Northern Indian spot in Hicksville! Hicksville is already known as Little India and while yes, it’s full of great Indian restaurants, it was lacking a Northern Indian spot. While on the Unilocal app, I came across Papee Da Dhaba and decided to give it a try. It’s a small spot in what was once a pizza parlor. The outside has a welcoming red awning and the inside has Bollywood movie posters on the walls. Service was a bit slow but they had only been open a half hour when we arrived. The menu for dining in is the same you can take home for their special lunch-to-go prices($ 8.95). I went with the chana masala and my mother went with the biryani chicken. My masala was fantastic and very filling! The chickpeas were perfectly cooked and the curry was out of this world. For a side we ordered the garlic naan and it was probably the best naan I have ever tasted. It was flaky yet still doughy and packed with garlic and buttery flavors. Service here, while slow, was also very nice. We had at least 3 different employees ask if we were enjoying the food. They also give you so much that you’re bound to end up taking a bag home. The menu is extensive and is broken down into vegan, vegetarian, chicken, seafood, etc. The prices are extremely fair. The only downside is that they SAY they take plastic but there is a sign inside saying they do not. I hope this place sticks around for a while.
