I happened to stop on North Wantagh Avenue after seeing Cuban food truck. My eyes lit up. Two people were ahead of me and I couldn’t seem to figure out what the menu was because there was no menu! We ended up ordering yuca fries, a beef empanada and a plate of pernil with rice and beans(included a drink). It was finally done, the man told me all he had was Coke(really? That’s is?) my mom handed him a $ 20 bill and he said the total was $ 20. He didn’t even break it down or anything and it seemed pretty expensive for 1 empanada, an order of yuca fries and a plate of food. After opening my plate, I was totally disappointed. A tiny scoop or plate white rice and plain black beans from a can. So flavor at al what so ever. I’ve been to Puerto Rico and had some pretty good Cuban food. This unfortunately had no Cuban flavors at all!!! Clearly people don’t know what real Cuban food is. After looking at the reviews here on Unilocal,I see the menu and the prices listed. The guy totally ripped us off and over charged us. Don’t waste your time here. Head over to Havana Restaurant near the Roosevelt field mall or any other Spanish restaurants for some real flavor and get more for your money!

There are not many food trucks on LI, so when I found one close to my job I had to try it. Boy am I happy I did. Rollin’ Cubans is a great find and perfect for a quick bite. I had a Cuban sandwich, which was very good, and tried a couple of empanadas(chicken and Mac and Cheese) and Yuca Fries. The chicken empanada was amazing. So good that I went back and ordered two more to bring home for my wife along with two pork empanadas. The Yuca Fries were also amazing. After work I warmed up the other empanadas at home and they were just as delicious. One thing, the amount of filling in the empanadas did seem to vary a bit. The chicken one I had at lunch was stuffed with chicken as was one of the ones I had at home in the evening. The other one was a little light on chicken though. Same thing with the pork empanadas, one was stuffed and the other not as much. Either way they are delicious and I will be back next time I’m in the mood for some cuban food!

Stopped and picked up a Cuban sandwich yesterday. To be honest… being a Cuban myself… this was the most non authentic Cuban sandwich I’ve personally ever tasted. Tasted like it was 3 days old. Sandwich never was even put anywhere to warm up. was definitely pre-made SEVERAL days in advance. I’ve had a better Cuban sandwich at the cheesecake factory. There was no menu… just a mess.

I had the fried yucas and beef empanadas. It was very good! Yes I had to wait because it is fresh to order but it is authentic cuban empanadas and i am from puerto Rico so I know hispanic food! They were just as good as my mom makes them! And trust me-my mom is the best cook in the world! I took out one star because I have been trying to make it to them and they are always sold out when I get there-usually around 3ish on weekends. One Saturday I just sat there watching their Facebook page hoping they post and I didnt see anything. Then I saw them in my news feed that they were in wantagh but when I went there they were sold out. They should give us more warnings or try to be consistent or please be there during the week after work-working people would love a quick bite of those empanadas. I have kids too so it makea it more difficult to search for them. Nevertheless I was lucky to catch them ONETIMEONLY and it was amazing! I can still smell the empanadas. The hunt was totally worth it!!!

First tried Rollin’ Cubans at a festival stop. I’ve tried different kinds of food from a few food trucks, some foods work from a truck and some don’t. Rollin’ Cubans works. Everything is made fresh and expertly prepared. The Mojo Chicken sandwich and empanadas are stand outs. The truck’s location is updated regularly on Facebook. If I’m in the area, I try to make my way there. If the truck was permanently parked in front of my house, I’d be a happy guy.

Got two empanadas. I thought they were both really greasy/oily. I would have waited an extra 30 seconds to allow them to soak up the oil in a paper towel or something instead of getting a dripping mess. I also thought they were very hollow. They definitely could have put more meat in there. Maybe I’ll come back to try the sandwiches but I’m never getting the empanadas again.

Best Cuban food around, and it’s on wheels. Joe and the rest of the guys provide friendly and exceptional service with absolutely delicious food. I’m somewhat of a picky eater but always enjoy the mojo chicken sandwich which a side of yuca fries. Make sure you get to the truck early or they may not always have the fries left! You can always call before to place your order if you chose not to wait. If you wait for the food, it’s always prepared fresh and quickly in about 7 minutes. Always a fun hidden gem to share with friends, and sometimes they’re even parked at the Great south brewery. Beer and food. Now you’re talkin!

There aren’t many food trucks in Long Island. It was my first time spotting this one near work. I decided to give it a shot. Upon grabbing my order and paying the server told me that I am going to love it and he is going to see me back here. Oh no, big mistake. Now you’ve got my hopes up. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. It took about 10 minutes to get my order. Judging by the other photos posted here, it looks like only half the ordering window was open. I arrived after 1pm and they were already onsite for about an hour or so. I highly doubt they were still setting up. The menu is very limited and according to the server it changes daily. The selections were cuban sandwich, Mojo chicken sandwich, mojo chicken platter, and pernil platter. There were two types of empanadas chicken and pork. I see other reviewers mentioning plantains and yucca fries but that option wasn’t posted on the menu board. I almost ordered the Mojo chicken but then I noticed under the platter it said chicken thigh, so I asked if the sandwich was made of the same meat. Indeed it was so I changed my order to a Cuban sandwich and an empanada. While I do like the flavor of mojo I would have prefered chicken breast. I make a pretty bad ass empanada myself, or so I’ve been told so it’s going to take a lot to impress me in that department. This empanada did not wow me. The chicken was tender and flavorful but there wasn’t much of it. It was mostly dough and while it was crispy was definitely missing something. When I make mine I usually put a combo of two items in it or add cheese and that makes a world of difference. For the amount of filling that it had I don’t think it was worth $ 3. The hot sauce provided was more vinegary than it was hot. The Cuban sandwich was prepared the proper way with roast pork, cheese, pickle, and mustard. The pork itself was seasoned well with sofrito and was tender. The bread was nice and toasty but I didn’t really taste the pickle. It wasn’t sour enough to contrast well with the other flavors. There also defintely was not enough mustard so it made the bread taste extra dry. The cheese was okay and was melted nicely. The cost of the sandwich was $ 8, the empanada was $ 3. I also got a can of soda for $ 1 and my total came out to $ 12. For a food truck that’s not located in the city that’s not really much of a deal. Especially considering that thigh meat is one of the cheapest parts of the chicken next to wings and drumsticks. While my experience was not awful, nothing really stood out about this meal. I won’t be back. Be careful when overselling your product. When it comes to food trucks the chicken and rice street meat husslers of nyc still have my heart. Sorry Rollin’ Cubans.

I’m writing a review since I’ve been waiting at least 7 minutes for my order to even be taken. There’s at least 6 people waiting in their orders and the good comes out slow! It’s coming up on waiting 9 minutes to place an order and from the stench, I’m reconsidering giving it anymore time. Oh and they keep mixing up orders. I’m a food truck fan but there’s a definitely a difference with service to the food trucks that make it(with licenses in high traffic areas) and explains why I’m probably wasting my time.

I would never think a food truck could put out an amazing product, but these guys proved me wrong. This was my first experience with a Cuban sandwich and it was glorious. I also got a chicken empanada, which I wasn’t too crazy about. However I will definitely go back for the steak empanada that I hear is delicious. I was also very pleased with the friendly customer service and genuinely cheery guys running the operation. Can’t wait to try the rest of the offerings.

Just stopped by the truck on the way home. He was on Wantagh Ave less than one block Noth of Hempstead Take in Bethpage. I live nearby and was curious. He was just closed, but said he had enough for a Cuban sandwich and empanada. Very smart to sell even though he was almost closed. We went with the sandwich. It was loaded, and just the right amount of meat and cheese. The bread was tasty but didn’t overpower the sandwich taste. Can’t wait to try a plate!

Oh man was I the happiest man in the world eating my food from Rollin’ Cubans! I ordered the pork empanadas and the fried yuca. I was given the plantains(maduros) to have while waiting for my good to cook, and they were so tasty! It was served with a garlic mayo that was awesome! No harsh garlic flavor, just a great topping for the fried plantains. I’m not usually a fan of fried plantains but these had a light crispy outside and soft inside that made the perfect vehicle for the garlic mayo. It was a welcome appetizer. The guy showed me the empanadas uncooked so I could see how big they were, but they grow when fried lol. I overdid it with 3 of them and the yuca. But they were so good! They had just enough spice for someone who’s used to spanish food and knows what it should taste like, but not overpowering for anyone who’s never had. The outside of the empanadas was beautifully crispy and oil free. Great texture and flavor from the dough itself. The fried yuca was incredible, perfect size; thin pieces, not really wedges. Crunchy outside and soft inside. It was a little oilier than a French fry but didn’t make it taste bad at all. The serving size is great too as a side. I wish they’d come by southern Nassau! I will definitely be visiting.

I’m typically not a fan of Spanish food in general, but I have heard good things about this food truck and my interest was piqued. I checked them out on Facebook to make sure where they were located today and browsed their menu online and off my boyfriend and I went. I ordered the mojo chicken sandwich. My boyfriend ordered the roast pork plate. We also got 2 chicken empanadas and a side of plaintains. I started off with the chicken empanada which comes with an avocado garlic dip. I LOVE the avocado garlic dip. The chicken sandwich had a citrus mayo(I think?) and was very tasty and fairly big and piled with chicken. I only got through half the sandwich and I’m kind of obsessing about having the other half that’s sitting in my fridge right now. ANYWAYS, again I love the avocado garlic dip. I was dipping everything in it and I am going to savor every last bit. The only negative I have is that the food was a little pricey. It was about $ 30.00 for our two meals. We both agreed that we would probably come back and get some empanadas soon($ 3.00 each and it comes with my beloved avocado garlic dip).

Food was very good. Would try again. Stopped by at 12:30 and there were 3 guys ahead of me. Took about 10 mins total to get my food. I got the Cuban Sandwich and Steak Empanada. Like others have mentioned, it’s a one man operation so things might be a bit slow compared to other food trucks, and maybe even on the pricier side. But all things considered, you can’t really complain. I wish he could put out some picnic tables. I’ll be going back.
