My kids loved it and so did I! Its far off the beaten path but well worth it. We will definitely be back!

Giddy Up!!! My fiancé and I stayed at Adventures on the Gorge in West Virginia with our two kids(17&12yr. old). We received a recommendation from a fellow camper about a horse back riding tour he had taken with his family the previous day at Horseshoe Creek. Based on the excellent recommendation we called Horseshoe and reserved a private 3 hour tour for our family. Just so you know — the stables are very difficult to get to. We had to meet the tour guide Gary at a church parking lot so he could show us the way. They guy who recommended Horseshoe stables told us this ahead of time so we wouldn’t get creeped out. The stables are about 20 minutes from the church parking lot. We had varying levels of skill — our kids were comfortable on horses and my fiancé had ridden years ago. I had never been on a horse. The horses are extremely gentle and so well trained that it did not take me long to get comfortable. Gary gave us instructions on how to hold our feet and how to get the horse to go, stop, move left, right etc. We went on a 14 mile adventure through the mountain and stopped midway to take a break at a beautiful waterfall. It was truly breath taking. Gary was an excellent tour guide and was full of energy. Gary will also take pictures if you bring your phone/camera. He takes a lot of pics so make sure you have a lot of storage on your phone :-) This was a special day for our family — so glad we followed up on the recommendation!!! I would highly recommend them if you are in WV. I wish we lived closer so we could go horse back riding more often.
