Worst sushi I’ve ever had. I get the most simple roll, a California roll and they can’t even do it right. The crab meat falls out of each piece. And the color of the tuna in the tuna rolls makes it look so artificial and unappetizing. The only reason it stays afloat is because it serves college students all the alcohol they want. Literally… All the alcohol they want.

When I went to HPU I would go to Sake at least three times a month! (even on my college-​no having any money-​budget) ha To this day I’ve had sushi all over the US and Sake is still my favorite! I make a point to go there every time I’m in the High Point area and hope it stays there forever! I’ve been a goer since I found out about it in 2009 and was ecstatic when they became an HPU Passport partner. I’m not a raw fish kind of girl so I recommend the Crunch roll & the Flaming shrimp roll! Simply amazing + my favorites!

This was my second time at this sushi restaurant. Food was good both times but as another reviewer stated, slightly more expensive than comparable restaurants in the area. The serving size of my husband’s hibachi shrimp/​chicken was smaller than average – so much he had no leftovers to bring home for tomorrow’s lunch so the increased price was not justified by the serving size.
What was different this time was the service. First visit was on a weeknight when very few people were dining & the service was standard. Tonight it was subpar. Food arrived in a timely manner but that’s the last time a server came to our table without being waved down. No one came to serve us more water even though our glasses were empty, I had to ask twice for a to go box for the extra order of sushi I was bringing home for our daughter & we had to request the check even though we had sat at the table for at least 15 mins obviously finished with our meal. I had hoped when the to go box was brought to the table the check would accompany it but the server was gone so fast we couldn’t request it. Since patrons were starting to wait for tables we were eager to leave & free up a table but the servers just weren’t cooperating. When we were finally able to leave, the furniture market crowd was starting to arrive – just hope they don’t mind the wait.

Ordered some food before I went to pick it up. Got there, paid, took the food home to find out they gave me shrimp instead of steak, called them up said they would correct it. When I took it back they wanted to charge me an aditional 3.00 for the steak. Get back home open the box up and there’s hardly any food in the box. I really feel like I got screwed on this deal. Food isn’t even all that good. Two wasted trips, wasted money, wasted gas… warning they speak next to no English and did nothing to make this problem any better. Stay as far away as possible

Went here with my girlfriend for a sushi dinner. Heard some positive things about this place and was looking to try it out.
Started out with the fried spicy calamari as an appetizer. The portion was ridiculously tiny for the price and the spice just looked like some regular Cajun seasoning. The sauces were paired well though and hid the blandness of the calamari itself.
For the sushi I ordered the HPU and Dragon roll. The HPU roll was fantastic and definitely worth the price. The dragon roll was extremely disappointing. The avocado was just so overbearing in the flavor compared to the rice and eel. My date got California and Cajun Crab roll. I sampled the cajun crab and it tasted well. She seemed happy with her choice.
With service being average Id recommend this place solely on what you order. Stay away from the appetizers and stick with the HPU roll!

This place is clean, sterile. The smell of chlorine and cleaning agents is thick in the air, not sure how others take it, but it’s nauseating and reminds me of a hospital. The service is very friendly, five stars for that, very helpful and knowledgable. The sushi lunch special is not much of a special. Two rolls for 12 bucks consist of 6 pieces each, barely filling the void. Lunch special selection is also limited to basic rolls.
As far as the taste goes, it’s ok, a little stale but edible, the eel role I ordered was very skimpy but tasty. I wish to see some improvement in the size of servings. All in all its clean and cozy enough to grab lunch but the smell of cleaners is a turn off for me.

Very unique blend of Korean/​oriental. The sashimi salad is always my favorite. For the first time I ordered the Age Tofu, which was a slight disappointment. The outside was not crispy, I guess because it already came immersed in the dashi based sauce; which by the way, was missing the bonito flakes. The flavor was very mild, almost boring. I will not order this entrée here anymore. The lover’s roll was good. Their prices are slightly higher than se other Japanese restaurants around the area.

Fantastic Sushi and Hibachi Food! Been going to this place since they opened and have never gotten bad food here. For me that is very important. MiMi is the Manger and knows me and my family by name! Would tell anyone i know that’s looking for great Japanese food to go here. Its very well placed for High Point Also.

This is my favorite Sushi place in the area (their other food is good as well). The service is very good and the employees are very friendly.
The crunch roll is my go to sushi order here. They also have very good lunch specials.

Read all the reviews and was excited to come here while in town. I thought the food was very average. I got sushi and I had a special roll, spider roll, an salmon sashimi. The sashimi was good– the rest was average. Tons of rice I thought and not enough filling. Unless I can find better, I will go to Greensboro next time I’m in town for sushi.

I have mixed feelings about this review, the sushi is the best that it gets — for real the specialty rolls are amazing. I get the HPU roll. He does cut them a little large so I ask for smaller cuts, but its fantastic!!! That said the regular menu food isnt that great, the bulgogi was bland dry and tasteless as well as my shrimp dish. the fried rice is tasteless as well. th the calamari was probably the worst I have ever had, its a tiny portion and the calamari is tiny as well. I will say though they have the best shrimp and white sauce in the area… That said I go several times a month for sushi for sure!!!

LOTS of choices here when it comes to rolls! Everything from the norm to slightly unusual. Good price range. I got my roll and edamame to go as I was visiting but it was delicious. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for good sushi in that area!
