Went here for lunch & ordered 2 hotdogs to go. The service was fast & the dogs were delicious! I will be returning to try a cheeseburger & will update my review!

I eat here at least once a week. They have the best hot dogs that I’ve ever had! You’ll be in and out in 10 minutes easily!

I’m a fan of these old-school style dogs. They aren’t perfect — the buns get mushy really fast. But getting a dog«loaded» is the only way to go so it means you just have to eat fast. It’s a good, cheap dog. Eat fast and thank me later. I will return.

I knew my visit to The Dog House would be great when I got a prime parking spot right in front of the store front on Main street. Feeling like a VIP, I strutted inside. If you come in from Main Street you’ll encounter the«to go» order counter first. Seat yourself if you want to dine in. I saddled up to the counter and was greeted immediately. A kind woman took my drink order(Cheerwine, of course) and let me look over the menu. I settled on two dogs«slaw style»(chili, slaw, mustard) and fries. My food was ready in less than 2 minutes. As other folks have said, the chili is different, more liquid than solid and poured generously over the dog. You’re going to need multiple napkins for this one. While I prefer a toasted bun, the soft bun with the runny chili just kinda worked. The fact that it made a huge mess positively impacted my experience. The fries were top notch very crispy and well seasoned. My server and I spoke for a bit about the business and how it has changed over the years. I think she was a bit nostalgic for the old days of a really busy Main Street. On the way out, I asked for directions to High Point University and everyone was very helpful. I recommend The Dog House for your future hot dog endeavors.

This is comfort food at it’s best. The Hamburger with slaw and chili is amazing as are the hot dogs, the fries are a little piece of deep fried heaven and don’t forget the sweet tea! In college I went here all the time and I’m thinking about making the 4 hour drive there just for this, no joke!

Went here the summer of 2012 and it was great! The hot dog with all the fixins definitely pleased my pallet! I’ll be coming back on my next trip to NC.

This is a great place to stop for lunch! The service is friendly and the food comes out fast! I do agree with what other reviewers have said though, the chili is a just a bit to thin for my taste. I enjoy it a bit heartier, I like meat on my meat! However I would most certainly come back for those fried bologna sandwiches. They remind me of when I was a kid because we use to eat fried bologna sandwiches all the time, for breakfast even. I haven’t had one in years! In my opinion the only way to ever really enjoy bologna is if it is fried. You also really can’t beat the price, for two hot dogs with a lot of toppings and a fried bologna sandwich it was about $ 8. Next time I will have to try the $ 1.50 fries. The parking is easy because they have quite a few spots in a lot at the back of the restaurant.

Came here based on other reviews and was not disappointed. The place is small, full of old ACC and NC memorabilia. Funny signs such as «If it has tires or testicles, you’re going to have problems with it.» Definitely a lot of character here. The place was full of locals on their lunch breaks. We sat at the bar. The ladies who served us were nice and attentive. Took our order as soon as we sat down, and in 1 minute flat our food was in front of us. Super fast. I had 2 hot dogs«all the way» which is with chili, mustard, and onions. The chili was just a little thin but had a good spicy flavor to it. The dog itself was good. The fries were awesome, some of the best I’ve had. They were extra crispy. Cash only, don’t forget that. They are only open for lunch. If we are in High Point again, we definitely wouldn’t mind another visit to The Dog House.

Opened in 1942! «Please No Singles in Boothe’s» the signs say! Ca$h Only ! ! ! I have been hearing about this place for Decades and always skipped the chance to go… My first time eating here was Today and I’m getting a All Beef Hot Dog… It surprised me to learn the popular selection in my crew is the Bologna Sandwich, almost everyone I know who eats here does NOT get Hot Dogs! Really??? They could have been joking,(it IS a joking lot!!!) yet this time I think they are serious… I’m ordering a Hot Dog because I know I’ll get to taste the Bologna Sandwich too! The All Beef Hot Dog(plain) was very good! The Bologna Sandwich«Loaded» was very nice, even with the kind of Slaw I do not like(mayo) still tasted good! This is a Thick Slice of Bologna Fried and served on a Bun! This place is incredibly Charming(uncomfortable seats so the next guest can take your Table or stool at the Bar… Very friendly and efficient staff who serves you fast(faster than a speeding ticket) and closes right on time(at closing time)!

You don’t stay in business for over 60 years without a good product and good service. They serve a great dog, I like mine loaded up with chili, mustard, onion and slaw. Yes, we are talking the old bright red NOTALLBEEF hot dogs. That is a real dog. If you are looking for the snappy bite, cased Sabrett Dog of NJ, you will probably be disappointed. This dog was good, the French fries were yummy and crispy. My husband and I sat on Main street at the one outdoor table and still had wait service. AMAZING!!! The sanitation grade was over 100. I was expecting a hole in the wall. They have a nice awning on main as well as in the back where they have limited parking. It’s a walk thru kind of restaurant without any windows except front and back. I have to say I was impressed, a little pricey for a dog and fries in my opinion but it may be the area. I am used to hotdog world in Hendersonville, NC and they are half that price but I will be back. PSCASHONLY

No matter which team you follow in the ACC, if you want a hot dog, and you’re in High Point, this is the place. A favorite of mine before each Biannual IHFC Market, I was thrilled to hear that they are now open during market as well. We walked on down and ordered a few slaw dogs and drinks, including a fountain Dr. Pepper. Save yourself some confusion and read the board before you order. It’s simple, but most people seem to waffle around, and with only a few hours open for lunch and a nice crowd, there is always someone behind you ready to take your place if you don’t have it quite together. As with many cool dives, The Dog House has a nice counter and a few booths, is darkly lit and is small enough to force everyone to be friendly. It’s as Southern as you can get, friendly and fast and you can’t help but soak up the flavor of the place. I make a point of stopping here every time I’m in town!

Fried Bologna sandwich was no baloney. They only serve hot dogs, hamburgers and fried bologna sandwiches and they’re only open three hours a day. Your food is served up almost instantaneously on waxed paper.

The Dog House, You guessed it they live up to their name, Service is as quick as you place your order. This is one of those places that the last time you ate there was as good as the first, no matter how long a go the first time was. Hot dogs and burgers are great, along with some good fries. After 42 yrs they just about got It. I think the chili could be thicker, I like a meaty chili. They also have an all beef dog, pretty good to! They pile the toppings on like a good sloppy dog should be. Neat little joint. The bacon cheeseburger my son likes. No complaints from this crowd. Take CASH…

The Dog House is another local hole in the wall place that most people don’t know exists. The menu consists of burgers, hot dogs and fries. If you want a southern experience with your meal I’d suggest the dog house. Nothing quite like this exists above the Mason-Dixon line. The food is priced well and is delicious. I would agree with the previous post that it may not be the healthiest. Limited parking is available behind the restaurant in a small lot.

I think the first time I ate a hot dog here was in the mid ’60’s, and I’ve grabbed a dog here from time to time ever since, and never been disappointed. I have no idea whether the ownership has changed over that time period, but the dogs have not — they’ve always served a very good chili dog. The chili is tasty, a little thin, but good. The bun is soft, almost gooey, and the wiener is the neon red one. Good combination. They have a reasonably large sandwich menu which includes everything from burgers to fried baloney, and the cheeseburgers are really nice, but the dog is the prize. Fries are good also.

visited high Point, NC and my friend suggested we this place. I had 2 chilli dog s and a bacon cheeseburger and fries. no plates here, your order comes on wax paper. Also, they are only open 3 hours day. 11:30 til 2:30. Just thinking about their chilli dogs makes my mouth water. This place is good

These guys have been in business for as long as I remember, and I’m the first one to review? I guess the lack of Unilocalers in the area may be the culprit. I grew up around the area unfortunately, but always found this place to be one of the few hidden gems of High Point. Great hot dogs, especially their«Bull Dog»(all beef hot dog, no longer called the former). They are only open for lunch. Their burgers and fries are very decent as well. Service is great, although I usually take it to go. Don’t expect to eat a healthy meal here, but if you like hot dogs, it’s definitely worth a visit if you find yourself within the vicinity.
