This review has nothing to do with the food, just the service. It was five of us. As soon as we walked in, the older Asian man that worked behind the sushi bar gave us a bad look. I’m not sure if he was being racist, but that is the way it felt. So this Caucasian man was sitting in a back table and he walked out, said he would wait outside. It was all a little weird. Some girls were sitting in a table and moved to let us sit at their table, that was nice. We sat at the table and a young man that worked there was nice, he set the table and gave us menus. We had to be sitting at the table for at least 7 minutes. We felt so uncomfortable but decided to stay and give it a chance. One of our friends that was with us and I noticed that the Asian man kept nodding his head with and angry frustrated face. So our friend was about to get up and made eye contact with the man. The man that worked there looked at our friend and nodded his head meaning«no service» He could have told us since we waked in instead of us wasting our time sitting there for 7 minutes. He murmured something in a different language as we walked out. People like that, do not deserve customers. It was a very frustrating experience.

Omg! It’s like eating in a friend’s cozy dining room – a Korean/Japanese friend who’s a master sushi chef! We had several magnificent rolls and bim bim bap. After we were full, the sushi chef treated us to a special roll and and mochi for dessert. For very little money we left completely stuffed, satisfied and full of warm feelings. The rest of the staff was also superb. This is a gem!!! Anytime we visit West Point again, we’ll eat here.

I have lived and traveled all over this fair country of ours and never, NEVER have I tasted such fresh and delicious sushi. I no longer live in NY and I still miss Sushi King all the time. Every sushi place I eat at is held up to the bar set by Sushi King and they all fall short. It is a small building and doesn’t look like much but the food is amazing and the staff are friendly. I lived in town for a year and ate here many, many times. Never was I disappointed. My favorite, the bear mountain roll.

I am extremely disappointed. First of all, their posted hours say they are open until 9PM on weekdays. I tried to call at 8:15 one day, and then 8:00 another day, but they were closed or about to close each time. Finally today I called at 7:15 and made my order: Salmon II Roll, and Eel Avocado. What did I get? I have no idea. It’s a messy mixture of smushed avocado, crab meat, some brown stuff and mysterious white(???) stuff. Drizzled on top is some orange dressing. I would NEVER order something this complicated. When I called back, the guy insisted that I had ordered«Hamako» roll. Are you kidding me? How does Salmon even sound like Hamako? I looked at the menu and I don’t even see a «hamako». He said it has fried yellowtail in it. LMAO. He kept insisting I ordered the Hamako roll. I’d like to hear that recording. Here’s a tip, Sushi King. When you mess up a customer’s order, the polite thing to do is to apologize and make it up to them, not insist that they ordered something they would never order. Or better yet get a better phone so «Salmon» doesn’t sound like«Hamako». I do not recommend this establishment.

Decent fresh sushi for fair prices. I would consider this joint a ‘dive’ when it comes to sushi. Facilities and presentation are ok/fair, but the sushi is pretty good. Sashimi seemed fresh. Construction of rolls was shoddy. Overall pretty good though and I’ll be going back. My four star rating is relative to other dining options in highland falls. Good service and pretty quick. Very little seating available though.

They do a pretty good hot vegetarian bimbimbop. To be great, you have to eat in house because this meal is best served in the scorching hot stone bowl. The to-go version is not as good because the rice does not continue to cook and get crunchy.

Grabbed lunch here on our trip to West Point and I’m glad we stopped in. A friendly mom and pop joint run by a couple that were the sweetest to our Twinkies. It’s kind of a mashup of deli and sushi and Korean restaurant. My hubby was shocked that I, being the stickler for order and cleanliness would sit down and eat. I did because of the welcoming attitude and the«feel» I got from the place. Hey! The best meals could be lost if you’re unwilling to try out a dive. We chose the yaki mandu and white rice for the kids, bulgogi for me, spicy pork for hubbs and a spicy tuna roll to share. Our meals came with kimchi, miso soup and rice. I wasn’t fond of the miso soup. Something in it was off-putting. I can’t really tell you what it was, but it reminded me of the way pinesol smells. I wasn’t thrilled with it, but managed to eat it all. The sushi wasn’t as tightly wrapped as I’d like, but it was very good and the ginger(not the pink crap) and wasabi were great as well. The mandu were delicious, piping hot and crisped nicely. The filling was a great consistency as well. The bulgogi and spicy pork were some of the better versions we’d tried and the kimchi, according to Hubs, was excellent. I thought it was pretty average. I was really drawn to the owners kind and calming attitude and the food being well-prepared was a bonus. We left happy and full. !!

Took me awhile to try this place because I just couldn’t believe that they could have good sushi in the area, I was wrong. They do the simple things right and are very welcoming to the patrons. I would recommend to anyone.

I’m Korean from LA(little Korea) and I recommend this place. Kimchi was good, rice was made perfectly, and I had the bibimbap and no complaints. Had a roll of their California roll and that too was also very good!

Of the take out places in Highland Falls this one is palatable. I try to stick with Bulgogi or the bulgogi wrap. They are the best choices. The Chicken Parm sub and other deli options are just not good, and there are other better choices for them in town. I haven’t had the sushi since I’m not a fan, but co-workers have said it’s very good. I stick with the Korean fare, however.

I could not help but be drawn to Sushi King Plus on my first visit to Highland Falls despite living just across the River for so many years. Its vibrant yellow storefront(bon Unilocal mot!) was like a flame and me the the moth. I did a little recon for a lunch visit and actually returned the next day with The L. as my curiosity was aroused and I could feel a hankerin’ for some sushi coming on. Offering deli sandwiches too and some Korean dishes, we settled on a sushi lunch consisting of miso soup and some assorted rolls. The miso soup was doled forth from a giant soup tureen and to my surprise was not vegetarian as it is in most places but made with an anchovy based broth which gave it even more saltiness than normal as I think the anchovies were added in addition to rather in place of which would make sense as miso is salty. The seaweed salad we shared was fresh and vibrant and though small for its price, $ 4, was quite tasty. For my rolls I got a spicy tuna and a CA roll which were both very fresh and delish. My only complaint was that they were not rolled very tightly. Perhaps they need a Cuban cigar wrapper to come in there for a lesson, lolz… I was pleased to see that the ginger was white which to me is a sign of a better quality than the artificially colored pink stuff. The wasabi also had a good kick to it. Overall though I would go back for the sushi as it was fresh. I just like to tread lightly when trying a new sushi joint… The space itself though is a bit bungled and I suspect the core of their business is take away and delivery with West Point being so close by. There is simply not enough room to sit, a few tables and a 5 seat sushi bar. Maybe not for dinner but for a quick lunch, why not. The family who owns SKP was welcoming and provided good service. I look forward to going back to that cheerful storefront and having another«quick lunchie»(a quunchi) there soon. 3.5 stars. Speaking of yellow, I think I just peed myself! ;)))

Nice people, tiny but clean, w/very fresh sushi/sashimi at reasonable prices. Very good Miso soup(included w/meal). They also have delicious looking Korean dishes(Bulgogi, Bibimbap, etc.), which I haven t tried yet but am looking forward to on my next visit. I was a little confused by the big deli counter(a little anti-thematic), but I understand that they make good sandwiches too.

Just had some takeout from this place while working here at West Point for a few days. I had the Bulgogi and an order of Kimchi Fried Rice. Both were very tasty and as authentic as can be. Having spent two years working in Korea, and eating just about everything at least once, this meal brought me back to those days. I was really surprised to find this place in Highland Falls. The owners are nice folks, and the food was cooked fresh, what more can you ask for really. Might try the rolls next time I am in town, as they looked pretty good. Place was busy with folks coming in and out to pick up orders. I would recommend giving it a try if you are ever in town and looking for a Korean food fix. The Kimchi was very good as well, you can tell it is homemade.

Apparently their sushi chef didn’t show up for work, and they no longer deliver. Um, not exactly great for a place called sushi king. Plus, the location itself didn’t look organized or clean.

Definitely one of the better places to eat in Highland Falls. I have this theory that most eateries here feel like they don’t have to try too hard in this town because it is very touristy for West Point families, and thus the quality of their food suffers immensely. Or maybe I’m just spoiled coming from a city where the foodie community is a tour de force. Idunno. Either way, the locals said it was a must-try and to go for their Korean food too. It is literally a mom ‘n pop place, with super tiny space inside and a huge deli case at the front. We sat down, but found out that they pride themselves in being«Army Certified» on being able to deliver and serve their food officially to West Point. In addition to sushi and korean, they also had a wide selection of Boar’s Head deli sandwiches. Normally, this would be a huge red-flag back home, but seeing how the actual place was very homey and cozy, I didn’t get that sinking feeling of «Aw, crap.» when I saw their mixed menu selections. We had 2 sushi rolls(West Point Roll and Dragon Crunch Roll) and they were pretty good – huge, fresh, filling, and exciting tasting(ie, spicy and flavorful). We also ordered some bulgogi and japchae, which is like the equivalent of burger and fries for us back home when we go for korean. We figured they were dishes that were hard to screw up, and they really did hit the spot. We asked for a second order of japchae, and the owners ended up giving us an «extra large» serving, seeing as we were starving from touring the campus. They also served us miso soup at the beginning, which was nice, and chatted us up about our vacation and my little brother’s upcoming start at West Point. Not to mention that they gave us some free mangos at the end of our meal. Overall, it was a really welcoming and pleasant experience. One of the Highland Falls establishments I can actually count on for when I plan to come back here to visit my little brother during his time at West Point.

The kimchi chi ge(kimchi soup with tofu &small slices of pork) is as authentic and delicious as any available in Seoul. I can’t comment on anything else as this is what I ordered. Based on that excellent meal, I would urge all to order the Korean food.

If Sushi King was in New York city, they’d be out of business a long time ago. The sushi really isn’t that great. But for Highland Falls and West Point cadets with an insatiable appetite for sushi, Sushi King is a godsend. The sushi is usually fresh. Sometimes they are well put together, sometimes the rolls fall apart the moment I pick it up. The rice is just right sometimes, other times, it’s a little off. The selection is pretty good, but they don’t always have everything(they run out of yellowtail alot). I usually order delivery and they are pretty good about being on time. I have eaten there a few times, and most of the staff are very friendly. The place itself is very small, with seating for about 10. It’s mainly a take out./delivery place. They do serve decent Korean food and deli, the latter I have not tried so I can’t comment about. So this place should really get no more than 3 stars, but being the only game in the area and the friendly staff that works there, they get an extra one.

I ate here three times on a recent visit. The staff members are very personable and will happily chat if you’d like. There are two tables. Sushi: The sushi bar has three seats and you can watch the well-trained chef do his thing. The sushi is carefully prepared and surprisingly fresh. No bento box extras, just a nice variety of sushi. I think the spider roll was my favorite, but the tuna hand roll was great too. No Uni, but I’m guessing there isn’t a lot of demand for Sea Urchin gonads in upstate New York. Korean: I had a wrap made with Korean beef, which was nicely spiced, but basically just a ton of beef wrapped in a tortilla. Sandwiches: The sandwiches are great, carefully prepared, huge, and excellent Boar’s Head beef and tasty bread. This compares very favorably to the lesser«Gray Line» deli near West Point.
