Alan Karzen Restoration

Pros: Mr. Karzen is reasonable priced and will pick up and deliver your items free of charge.
Cons: The actual work is done by other people, which is supervised to some degree by him. He can also be a little abrasive at times, and is a little fast and loose with deadlines.
Overall, I would say that I have had an OK an experience with his business so far and would maybe hire him again to restore other furniture, depending on the specific piece. If I were a customer in the future the one thing that I would do differently is making sure that I had a written agreement about the work to be done instead of just a receipt. We had a little hiccup, which he corrected. He does have business ethics and integrity, which I think is his best feature as a small business owner.

We used this service on 2 tables that I scratched the crap out of. They did an amazing job on the one that I actually took a chunk off the edge. The other one had surface scratches & some were «cross grain». While it definitely looks a lot better, it clearly still had pronounced scratches upon delivery. I was really surprised that they would even deliver something in that condition since they said it would be completely «fixed». I would have expected a call & then come to the shop see & have explained what the issues were. He had several explanations that seemed rather hollow. But, I came away EXTREMELY IMPRESSED because he immediately offered me all my money back. I would DEFINITELY recommend him for basic refinishing & would definitely use him again. This level of honesty is rare today. He has a great sense of integrity!

My Heywood Wakefield coffee table and two end tables were returned today. Alan and his company did a wonderful job. Could not be more pleased. These tables are 42 years old and showed it. They look like new. We will use Karzen Restoration again.

I had a horrible experience using Alan Karzen Restoration. Besides doing a poor job on my antique buffet, they also damaged the piece while delivering it back to me (they did try to repair it, but the damage is still visible) and charged me double what I had been quoted when he picked the piece up. Alan said he would call me with any changes to the quote, but did not. Underhanded business practices and poor quality work. Beware of sweet talking Alan!

Great Service, the chair he refinished and lamp look brand new, I did not even recognize them when they came back. Very Reasonable and a quick turn around. I will us him again in the future.

Over the past few months, my wife and I had the opportunity to work with Karzen Restoration in connection with several antique/​vintage furniture pieces. What a pleasure. The work was absolutely top-​notch quality craftsmanship. Alan was friendly, responsive and kept us fully in the loop on the progress of the work. Everything was completed with time and budget expectations and we are thrilled with the end product. HIGHLY recommend!

I had an old vintage leather couch and a wooden table that needed desperate repair. Alan was very helpful, on time and restored the two pieces of furniture in as good as new status. I like how I dealt with the owner directly who answered all questions and who explained how to maintain the lasting finish. Recommend to all!

Wow!!! A five-​star review! No wonder when only the negative reviews are deleted. I did not have a positive experience with this company and still have a ruined sofa, and now a missing review. Interesting.

I had a valuable family heirloom broken over the holidays. I was absolutely sick about it and I also had an antique chair that needed caning. I called Alan Karzen on the advice of a neighbor. It was tough to let the pieces go out the door with a stranger, but he brought them back perfectly repaired. I even had him put together an old chair that had been in pieces in the basement for 20 years. I am impressed and so happy I called him. He’s a nice guy, too! I loved the pick up and delivery!

We have hired Alan Karzen numerous times for our home and business. From a dinged dining room chair to a burned kitchen table to an office desk. Alan is ALWAYS fair, on-​time, professional and the work is always of the highest quality. I wouldn’t for a second hesitate to recommend Alan for any of the services he offers. Alan Karzen and his team of furniture restorers are excellent. They refinished a dining room table and chairs and bedroom chest of drawers and dresser and did a beautiful, amazing job. They even were able to fabricate a chair’s leg. They are all lovely people to work with and even finished the job early. The gentleman Alan sent out to do some touch up work on other pieces was terrific as well. I will definitely use them again and have recommended them to friends and the designer I’m working with to decorate my home. Very reasonably priced as well. I think Karzen Restoration is super!

Mr. Karzen and the service his business offers is amazing. We had a couch that needed the guts reupholstered and he steered us in the right direction for picking out an amazing fabric. Then his team went to work and he delivered a beautiful reupholstered piece to our home. Definitely will return for more work in the future and I highly recommend to anyone looking to have something refurbished or reupholstered. Worth every penny!!!

As the husband of a woman who just wouldn’t let this chair die, this restoration business did a fine job in bringing our good olé chair back to life… After many days of doghouse living for throwing this chair in the alley, this business that restored the chair placed a happy smile on wife, which makes me happy… So if u have what you think is an end of life piece of furniture, DONT throw it in the alley before you call Alan…
