Gerber Collision & Glass

Diane did a great job organizing and staying on top of everything especially because it was hard to find parts for this particular car. Rob did a superb job in fixing the car which looks like new now. Also, I got the rental car through Enterprise which was well organized from pick up to drop off.

I cannot say enough good things about Gerber Collision — in the past year i’ve had two of my cars in due to being rear-​ended and an accident in my driveway backing out of the garage. Their service was stellar, and that’s why I keep going back. My car (s) both were done ahead of promise and done expertly as you cannot tell there was any damage. They even dropped my car off at the house when I couldn’t pick it up, which was awesome!
This location has only been Gerber for about a year, prior to that it was Collision Revision; and I have always gone to Gerber for autobody work on Milwaukee Avenue which is a trek for me as I live in Highland Park, but now they are a short distance away and I could not be happier.
I read some of the reviews below and I’m not understanding how Josie P in downtown Chicago or Emma S Wheeling would be bringing their cars to Highland Park when there are Gerber Auto body shops all over the place (including downtown Chicago, Wheeling, etc). Ryan C below clearly has a picture of his «Collision Revision «review and pictures attached so that’s not fair to judge Gerber based on that!
I also read Sharon S of Skokie’s car had a problem THREE YEARS after it was fixed (which come on, three years ago it was Collision Revision, not Gerber). If this is a true review, its awesome that Gerber took care of this guy when they didn’t own the place when he alledgely brought his car in 3 years ago!
Caveat emptor on some of these reviews — the positive ones I do believe as that is the type of service i’ve always known at any of the Gerber locations I’ve used in the past 15 years in the suburbs of Chicago…

Their service is just awful!!!
My auto insurance company chose this place, so it was my only reason I took my car in. Due to car accident, my SUV needed work on rear door (it was completely ruined and could not even open the door).
After 2 weeks, I picked my car up. Car interior was completely ruined by oil stains and back door could not be locked nor properly closed. You would think they would check if their repair was correctly done before giving your car back, right? But apparently, THEY DO NOT. They are completely OK with ruining their customer’s car with oil stains or returning their customer’s car WITHOUT repairing. I had to clean after their mess (had to make several phone calls and wiping oil stains on the roof, seats, and steering wheel)
If they cannot do simplest thing they advertise their service for, which is REPAIRING, I do not even know what I can ask them for.

They had my car for 2 weeks and when I picked it up it was only ¹⁄₃ done! We had discussed them fixing the back and changing the break pads and oil as a separate fee and they «forgot» to do all of it. They said it wouldn’t be ready for another 5 days. I asked a manager to call me and nobody ever did. This was a terrible experience.

Conveniently located on 41 next to Ford dealer and across from Subaru dealer. Picked up my wife’s car from having some body work done and they did a fantastic job. Work is guaranteed for as long as you own the car, that and they turned it around in less than a week, with a paint job! Thinking about bringing my truck up for some love. Not sure who to trust, give these guys a try, my first experience was a winner.

Walked in for an estimate and 20 minutes later we walked out with an upgraded Camry via Enterprise car rental. The process was easier than getting an oil change!
Gerber Collision & Glass purchased the Collision Revision chain. I believe it might be the same team of people, but regardless, this is our second time to this body shop and our experience was just as lovely as the first time around.
So…we parked our car in front of our house one day and our neighbor across the street accidentally backed out of the driveway and bumped our back driver side fender area. Her insurance took care of everything, so all we had to do was drop the car off. Her insurance company was going to reserve a Hertz rental car for us, not realizing Enterprise is onsite at Gerber, and when we showed up for an estimate we weren’t planning to leave the car but they told us they could take the car on the spot and give us a car to leave with — and so our positive experience began.
Needless to say, 10 days later the entire ordeal is over, we dropped the rental off, took a look at the paint job — like it never happened — and went on our way. Outside of the car was nicely cleaned.
If you have to wait for any reason in their waiting area, the leather sofas and chairs are super comfy, there’s a window where you can see the cars in plain view being worked on, you can watch TV if you wish, and they will offer you coffee and popcorn.
Not one bit of resistance. Lightening speed. Super nice team of people working there, and we felt like their one and only customer.
Though I’d like to say we look forward to the next time, I do hope that day won’t happen. ;-)

Geico sent me here after I did some damage (my fault) to the front of my car by hitting another car. The staff was super professional, efficient. Enterprise had the car waiting for me. The reception area was clean with sparkling windows. Car was fixed, thoroughly cleaned, filled with gas. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that there was communication error and I was not notified that the car was delayed. I think it was a computer glitch because I had been getting a steady stream of updates that the car would be ready so when I showed up, they were surprised to see me there. I thought they accidentally texted my husband but they did not but they swore that a text had been sent. It would have been nice to get a phone call to confirm that it was delayed but it was not a big deal for me; I suppose for someone else, they could have been really annoyed. Gerber even fixed the back bumper complimentary (as it had nothing to do with the accident) which was nice of them to do so if I could give it ½ a star more, I would! I would come back here again but I hope not to get into any more accidents.

Update:
The owner (I think?) of Collision Revision called and talked with my husband after seeing my Unilocal review. He was apologetic, and offered to have their staff come get my car from my office to finish the repair. He asked about the complaints in the review, and didn’t try to make excuses.
Staff were prompt about coming to get the car on the scheduled date and time. They returned it before the end of the day. The repair to the repair was done well, and my car is back in good form. You can’t even tell a four car collision initiated by a Jaguar running a red light sheared off part of the panel and grill.
The owner also threw in a gift certificate to have my car detailed in the spring — a nice, unnecessary touch. But actually sort of necessary because the inside of my car is a hot mess. ;)
A friend asked me if the follow up changed my opinion of my experience at Collision Revision, and my answer was no – but it does change my opinion of the owner. There are clearly some areas of growth in customer service; it seems like the owner is attentive to those and working on it.

Just stopped here because my 1996 VW GTI was acting strange and the check engine light was on. I first went to the VW dealer across the street and they were unwilling to help because it was «16 minutes until close». I had told them I was from the city and was wary of how my car was acting so I was hoping they would have had some compassion. They didn’t. They were extremely friendly and even though they didn’t do mechanical work there, Jim got out a diagnostic computer and retrieved the error code for me. I really appreciative to them for helping me out. This is the type of place you want to do business with.

I often gripe about not finding reviews on places… but then I never leave them! When I saw only one or two reviews for this place, it felt like a gamble to take my car there. I had about $ 3,000 worth of hail damage from a storm this spring, and I have only had my car about 10 months, so I was really apprehensive. Collision Revision not only did a beautiful job on the car and were able to repair everything paintless, but their level of customer service was exceptional. There was a competence and integrity about them that immediately put me at ease. Everything about the repair process was explained to me, the timing was reasonable and as promised, and the car was impeccable when I arrived to pick it up. One of my indicator lights had come on, and Collision Revision called a Volvo technician to scan the car and reset things to be sure that everything was connected properly after repair. Although they were busy, they made me feel like my car was the only one there. Just want to say thanks!

Incompetent liars that wasted months of my time for poor work that had to be redone elsewhere. I brought my car here after an accident for body work because my insurance company recommended it. They painted the parts they repaired the wrong color and were so oddly aggressive in their denials I was afraid to talk to them alone. CR’s service manager kept threatening to bring in their Sherwin Williams rep who would prove me wrong with sophisticated color sensing instrumentation, which was fine with me. A couple days later, an uncomfortable paint color specialist with a flashlight met us at CR and explained that, in fact, the wrong paint color had been used. CR finally repainted the car the right color, but sprayed something on the windshield that permanently damaged it and broke knobs on the dashboard. At that point I found another body shop, who not only took care of the windshield, but had to redo much of the work CR had done incorrectly. The insurance company covered all the new repairs, but weren’t happy they had to pay to fix my car twice.

I love this place. My car went through two accidents within the same month (not my fault! I promise), and Collision Revision was great. They were prompt and they actually cared. Mary Rose and Drew are so personable and really take the time to explain. They actually go out of their way to get something done. They were so prompt with everything, and actually made sure my car got done on a certain day.

Horrible experience! Gave my 1 month old Infiniti G37 coupe and got it back with a thick layer of dirt inside it. I made sure to wash the car before I gave it in. If you have a nice car… I would stay away.

All I have to say is… If you let them fix your car, when you pick it up, take it straight to the dealer and buy a new car. Seriously.

Must I repeat myself… My car has a mind of itself and likes to run into other cars. I try to stop it, but the car always wins. Really it’s not me. I promise I’m a good driver. Now, no one is going to want to drive with me. Of all the places I’ve had cars fixed this is the worst of them all. They aren’t very friendly nor are they customer focused. They don’t let you drop the car off on your schedule, it’s on theirs. And it often takes longer than other places. Also, it’s not that they don’t do a good job, I’ve just liked how other places do their work better, and trust me *I* should know. I would recommend this place as one of the last on the list of many others.
