I come here to get haircuts from Pedro… he’s the best! This is a man who takes great pride in his craft and is constantly educating himself to keep up on the latest styles.

This place needs a makeover! Very outdated surroundings and more than a little depressing. Cleanliness definitely an issue in the manicure area where nothing is sterilized, and the files look like they have been used for months. Manicure staff is lovely and competent, although my fourth no-chip did not work. They were very apologetic when the polish lifted after only a few days, and gave me a free regular manicure. Just wish they would fix the place up, get some better equipment, and boost the cleanliness factor.

I came here with a Groupon, the deal was great, but once I got there, I was less than impressed. The no-chip mani I got was bubbly and uneven, and the technician did not paint all the way down to my cuticle, so it was horribly grown out within 9 days. When I was there, the lady said I could come back and get it removed for free. When I called to make an appointment for the removal, they told me it was $ 5. I knew I could have gotten it done right by my house for $ 10, but I made the trek from the city to save a few bucks. Once I got there, not only did they try to make me feel bad for not buying another no chip, they also left my nails looking worse than I ever thought possible. They use tools and files that look dirty and old, and did not seem to have an eye for detail. My nails were literally crooked, one side long and rounded, one square and short(and that’s all on a single nail!). And there were chunks of nail that they didn’t file stuck in the clear paint they put over. I was absolutely shocked that that place could stay in business with services like that! And to top it all off, they tried to charge me $ 10 at check out. I put up a fight, only for them to give me a ridiculous run around in front of my face, absolutely insulting my intelligence and pissing me off more than anything. I wrote to Groupon expressing my anger, and they immediately refunded my unused Groupon to Lona’s(I purchased two different options). So kudos to Groupon for knowing when they messed up with offering a deal from such a DIRTY and UNSCRUPULOUS establishment. If you have a Groupon for Lona’s, just email them for a refund, and save yourself the trouble! !!!

I used to come here for bikini waxing when I worked in the burbs– Lona is the absolute best! Unfortunately I live and(now) work in the city and it’s too far for me to go. I have yet to find anyone as good as Lona in the city, especially at her prices. She is very thorough and I hardly ever had ingrown hairs. She was fast and very little pain, which is not the case with many places! Lona is so good that I’m seriously contemplating driving all the way to Highland Park just to go there again!

I came here because of a groupon and I called ahead to make an appointment. When I came in the front entrance was nice enough but then they led me to the pedicure area… what the? It’s dirty and bare the chairs are outdated and probably haven’t been wiped down in years. I was able to put my purse in the chair next to me cause I was not about to leave it on the floor. The only redeeming factor is the girl was so nice, it almost pains me to write a bad review. But the scolding hot stones and dirty salon was enough to make me not want to come back. I got a coupon when I left but I’m sure if I will use it.

Came here with a Groupon for a manicure and hot stone pedicure. At $ 26 it was a great deal, and I will definitely be going back in the future to use the 2nd Groupon I purchased. That being said, Lona’s would not be my first choice to go back to and pay full price. The mani/pedi was pretty standard, and the technician did do a good job and definitely took her time(the whole thing took 90 minutes), but the atmosphere was anything but relaxing. It was a bit dated(although other reviewers mention them remodeling, I didn’t see any signs of that), noisy, and the fluorescent lightbulbs in the pedicure room kept flickering. Also — those hot stones can be VERY hot, so definitely speak up or risk burning your calves and feet! All in all, not a bad place but I would be willing to pay a little more for a more relaxing and luxurious experience.

Came in with the mani /hot stone pedicure Groupon. They got the job done but it was certainly not luxurious, special, or a treat. It seemed as though it was the first time they did a hot stone pedicure — there was barely any massage and the stones were so hot that the women could not touch them with their bare hands(used towels to grip them) yet somehow thought it would be a comfortable temperature to put on our feet and calves! They didn’t seem to know what to do with the stones. The manicure was even worse — a 30 second massage of the hands and such a bad job on the polish that both my mom and me removed our polish the next day. We were never offered any coffee or water. It seems as though they save those«treats» for regulars or people who are not using a Groupon. All in all, would not recommend and would not go back. They certainly didn’t attract us as new customers and I was very disappointed with the service. Basically it was a small step up from just doing your own nails at home.

Came here with a Mani pedi groupon, actually made it in about a week after purchase and had a great experience. The ladies were very nice and even gave a coupon and discount for a follow up service. They recently bought the spa from previous owners and are remodelling so it’s a bit stark right now.

Very clean and a great pedicure/manicure special at $ 30.00. The technician Cecelia was great! They are remodeling now, dont know if they will continue the special.
