Tails Of Hope

Tails of Hope rocks at saving lives! I have adopted twice, about 5 years apart, and have always been treated with respect. Kelly matches the dogs to the proper home situation so that there are no regrets! I would not trade these babies for the world! And I know that I will be back again. This is my shelter of choice, both for adopting and donating!

Kelly has sacrificed a lot to help save animals. Unfortunately the negative remarks may be seen superficially by what is missed is the caring, love, and compassion that she has. What people don’t see is that people who neglect their pets just pass off their pets to this shelter. Unlike some shelters she saves even the most sickest/​neglected pets and tries rehabilitating them. The owner of this shelter is a saint! Go adopt a pet!

I adopted a Chi mix from Kelly a year ago, and she is such a love bug. I could tell right away that the dogs at Tails are not treated like most shelter dogs. And this is a GREAT thing! Kelly is an Angel and works her butt off for the animals. I will definitely adopt another dog from Tails, and will always support them in any way I can.

The best caregiver for dogs –PERIOD. There really is nothing else to say about it. The woman who runs it is not a teenager who is paid minimum wage but cares. She plays with other dogs and is not segregated.

I went in looking for a specific dog I had found online. Unfortunately, because of a health condition he has he wouldn’t be able to go to a home where he would be left alone for a typical work day. At first I was sad, but the owner Kelly was upfront and made it clear to me this was for both mine and the dog’s sake.
The next step: They asked me what I was looking for in a dog, if I had any breeds in mind. Next thing I know I’m in a small room with 5 dogs saying hello. They both explained to me each dog’s personality and let me socialize with the dogs midst the chaos.
I would have never expected to end up adopting a Chihuahua — but he stole my heart right away. I’m in the middle of a move so could not adopt him until a couple weeks later (but still provided my payment) and they were more than happy to keep him the extra couple weeks until I could pick him up. It’s been a very long two weeks, and I’m thrilled to see him this week!
Overall it’s a great organization with fantastic staff and volunteers. We live in the city of Chicago, but I know that if I ever adopt another dog in the future, I’ll be going to Tails of Hope.

Two months ago I went in with a dog in mind that I had seen on their website. I met with Kelly and she asked me a bunch of questions about my house and family and told me that the dog I came to see would not be a great fit, but she had a recommendation of another dog. She brought out a dog that my wife, kids, and I instantly fell in love with! Over two months later I can honestly say that our new family member is one of the best decisions we have ever made. He fits perfectly into our household and is the sweetest guy ever! I can’t say enough good things about Kelly and TOH — they’re truly fantastic!

Last week, my boyfriend and I came in here to adopt a dog. We’d found «Rupert» online and immediately fell in love with his adorable pug face and with the amazing mission of this shelter.
The owner, Kelly was very warm and helpful. She brought Rupert out to meet us and right away we knew that this was the little guy for us. She let us take time asking questions and she was very thorough in learning about us as well and making sure that we would give Rupert the best home possible.
There was a volunteer there as well who was helping to walk the dogs. We chatted for a few minutes and she had nothing but great things to say about the organization. All the dogs we met seemed happy and well looked after. Couldn’t recommend Tails of Hope more!

We rescued a puppy from Tails of Hope almost two years ago, and he has become a cherished member of our family. The rescue shelter was so great to work with, and they made sure he had all of the necessary shots. They also made sure that we were a good fit for him. In the past two years, we have brought him back there whenever we go out of town. He is treated with such love and kindness, and he’s always happy to go back for a visit!
Rescuing a dog is such a wonderful thing to do. And, Tails of Hope is a wonderful place at which to do so!

In this world there are some people who are even more special than most Kelly the owner here is amazing. My kids and I were looking for the right dog and Kelly made sure we found him. At most shelters you walk through and the dogs in cages are freaking out to see people. At tails they sit down with you and your family and ask about your life based upon your answers they then bring to you in the adoption room dogs that may fit. In the room there is a couch and some toys and food and water for the dogs. When they brought Terry in it was love at first lick and even my wife said okay. This method of matching takes more time but you get to know the dog who will become part of your family.
Over a year later and we see Kelly at petsmart and she remembers Terry and we ALL now love this little boy.

As the other reviewer pointed out, Tails of Hope is a non profit organization that takes in the pets of individuals who pass away or are terminally/​chronically Ill.
Kelly and the ladies and gentlemen take extreme care with the dogs and cats at Tails of Hope, and it costs a great deal of money to keep a no kill shelter running.
Tails of Hope offer boarding to help offset their expenses, on the recommendation of a friend, I boarded my pup with Tails of Hope and my doggie was very happy with her stay, and met a few friends there waiting to be adopted.
It was very clean, considerably cleaner than some other facilities I have been to.
If you need to board your dog or cat, please give Tails of Hope a call, at least you’ll know your money won’t be going towards the owner’s BMW lease payment, but helping find all these loving animals a new forever home.

Tails of Hope is a non profit organization that takes in the pets of individuals who pass away or are terminally/​chronically I’ll and can no longer care for their dog or cat. They do make exceptions and take in pets that would otherwise be put down at another location as well. To me that was an amazing mission statement. And they are a no kill shelter. Who could ask for a better shelter?! These ladies truly love the animals and provide them with the best care possible as they try and find the perfect families for these animals that have fallen on hard times.
My coworkers and I took a group of students here to learn about the animals and the work that goes into running a shelter. Tails of Hope was super accommodating and helped us organize an engaging field trip!
