A part of Highland Park history… tucked away down the street from the 1921 Coney Island, «Victor Red Hots» is the Victor Bakery on Victor Street. One thing they do well is the onion rolls. They are incredible… I will even buy their frozen onion rolls too. I slice their onions rolls, then I like to wrap them in aluminum foil, heat them in a oven and then make ham & cheese sandwiches. Some ham from the Polish Market in Hamtramck with Edamski cheese… yum. The donuts are decent… the cakes are good… the cookies and breads are excellent… and the only onion rolls I worship.

I’ve been going to the Victor Bakery for about 23 years. They are a real mom & pop type Polish bakery, but they don’t make donuts! They make the best cakes, and they take bridge cards, so many people in the neighborhood rely on them for their special cakes. They make some very good danishes, and strudle too. Their bread is fresh, it’s not Avalon but it’s real. Just a good solid bakery, with flour on the hands of the people who serve you :)
