Maybe the other location is better. My husband and I went in to see what they had and try them out. OK they bake from scratch and buy local, both really good things. But the cakes looked like they were baked, iced by a beginner and sat in the display case for a while. We bought a dozen of doughnuts on sale for $ 6.00(a dozen is usually $ 8.00) and after trying them I felt we paid too much. The«cinnamon & sugar» ones well let’s just say the sugar(not much cinnamon at all, it didn’t even lend any color to the sugar) were a disappointment. The doughnuts were undercooked, greasy and again looked like who-ever made them was new to baking. Maybe the pies or breads are better

There are several locations of Williams Bakery around the city, but since I live on the east side of town, I go to this one in Highland Springs. Ron WIlliams is the pie master. His chess pie is to-die-for and the black walnut cake is his mother’s recipe. He bakes everything from scratch, and the year my dog ate the Thanksgiving pie, I made a quick run out there and snagged his last pumpkin(it was better than mine anyway so the pooch was off the hook)! Williams grandfather, Bert, opened a bakery in Church Hill in 1911 so baking is a family legacy. His son, W.H., resurrected the family name in later years, passing the business along to his son. Order in advance around the holidays as he gets hundreds of orders a day.
