Yum! With the exception of one high-end steak house this place produces the most delicious(and consistent) prime rib I’ve eaten. Between the locally renowned breadsticks, Greek salad and maple glazed carrots you are not going to leave hungry. In fact, for years we’ve been splitting the 16 oz prime rib dinner because before doing so we always left disgustingly full. Consider carrying out a slice of traditional cheesecake with strawberries.

Always the best service and great food. From the manager walking around and checking on all the tables, the great waitstaff, quick delivery of food and a delicious meal. Highland House never disappoints. I just love their Greek Salad and unlimited Breadsticks!

My aunt and uncle catered in a ton of food from here for a party over the week-end, and wow! What a great choice. The bbq chicken and the mostaccioli were great, everyone loved the Greek salad(my great-uncle said he had three helpings), and don’t even get me started on those BREADSTICKS! A garlicky delight. Would definitely order again.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. First off they have the most amazing bread just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Second if you are a fan of rice pudding then you need to go to highland house just for that reason alone because it’s the best!!! I always order their lasagna because no one could do duplicate such an amazing recipe. They have huge portions well worth the price. So yes I give it a 5 star and if your thinking of going… Go find your keys, get in the car and get to highland house NOW ;)

Don’t go here if you’re craving Gus’s pizza or breadsticks thinking it’ll be the same. Pizza is understood and under sauced. Toppings are stingy. Bread is under seasoned. Service is lacking. Would not go back.

Had a family dinner 3÷5÷16 and it was extremely busy this evening. I have to say the food was very bad. My husband always gets the white fish and he said this was the 2nd time it was not good. We had prime rib and filet mignon and had to send it back as it was cold. Also very tasteless. Our cocktails were not very good either and sent the first ones back. I am sad to say we won’t be going back there any time soon. I don’t know what has happened but this place has really gone down hill in our book!

I myself really like this place. Good ribs, good salads, and good whitefish. I have never had the pizza but I see it on the tables all the time. It is one of the places that you get a lot of food for your money.

I have been here twice and both times has been wonderful good and service. I came in right when they opened at noon on a Sunday. A friend of mine was supposed to have lunch with me. Ali was my server and she was a sweetheart. I told her I was waiting for a friend. She kept my drinks refilled and offered to switch the bread for some hot ones when my friend arrived. After 45 minutes, I released I had been stood up. Luckily, my father-in-law joined me so I didn’t sit alone. My fish and chips were crisp and delicious. The breadsticks and garlic cheese dip is worth driving all the way here for. Ali was a great server and she didn’t seem to mind that I had taken up her table for quite some time. This place is very nice place to eat.

I’ve been there several times and I always get the same thing. Pizza and bread sticks. I wish they would update the restaurant. It’s very dreary in there. Always good service.

One of my favorite restaurants in all the world.(I grew up near here and have lived all over the country). Highland House has a great feel and the food is amazing. The ribs are the best in the world — I’ve never seen a slab go uneaten. The greek salad, the fresh breadsticks and even their spaghetti is absolutely amazing. The managers are extremely well trained and customer service is consistently awesome. Love this place.

One night might be great the next not so much. Very inconsistent. Staff range from over the top, to old and grouchy, to totally drab. Family oriented and decent food for sure but for me, quality has to outweigh the price. I don’t like paying for a «name» in a small town with less than a few options to choose from. Been eating here since I was a kid cause its a local spot with not much competition around. Not bad, not great. It’s an average place with higher prices than you would expect for what you get. Try it out. You’ll leave saying«not bad» but for the price I’d go to Billies Tip-n-Inn 2 miles down the street. Side note. It’s a dark, dirty, dingy, slow, overpriced mom-n-pop joint that needs a total makeover with some windows and a cleaning crew. Sorry guys. Is what it is.

My family has been coming here since it opened. It is our go-to place for salad and breadsticks and anything else delicious. We have never had a bad experience here. We love that it is a great meal at a family restaurant. Service is always great. Breadsticks are always fresh.

My standard for selecting a Unilocal recommended restaurant is: At least 3 stars, with no less than 25 reviews. Based on this standard, Highland House should be a solid choice, with 3.5 stars and 50+ reviews. I was wrong. Went here on a Saturday night, to celebrate my aunt’s 75th birthday. I’d been here once before, years ago, and my only impression was that it was dark inside, with claustrophobic interior decorating and an uninspired menu. But 3.5 stars! Gotta be good now. At first, I was hopeful for better, as the parking lot was absolutely crowded. As we walked inside, my hope fizzled as I got a look at the people that chose Highland House for their dining experience. I was way over-dressed in a dress shirt, dark jeans, and leather dress shoes; not fancy or anything, just decent. It was as if Wal-Mart had to close suddenly, and told everybody over the PA system, «Please go to Highland House. Sweat pants and Loony Toons logo t-shirts are perfect for their dress code. Go. Go now.» I know, I sound hyper-critical, but I’m trying to paint a picture here, tell a story. Crowded, full people who don’t have enough sense to take off their sweats and Tweety Bird t-shirts to go out to dinner, and loud, really, really loud inside. So, what kind of menu attracts the Wal-Mart crowd like a no-pest strip attracts flies? Well, a lot of fried food would be a good start, and Highland House has it. Sure they have ribs, and lasagna, and both looked pretty good, I’ll give them that. Another plus is their breadsticks — those were excellent, with just enough chew on their golden crust and warm, soft and doughy inside. Wonderful. I ordered the«Veggie Stack», which the menu described as zucchini, peppers, onions, and other vegetables, grilled, sliced and stacked on a grilled flatbread, with a spiced mayo. My wife ordered the salmon, with veggies. My «Veggie Stack» was so, so tired, with the vegetables leaking all over the bottom piece of flatbread, leaving it so soggy I couldn’t pick it up. I had to eat it with a knife and fork. It was remarkably without taste. The fries were good. Because, well, they are good at frying things. My wife’s salmon had great texture, and was cooked perfectly, but was lacking in flavor. The side of green beans and steamed baby carrots looked like they came from a bag of frozen, sad beans and carrots. Portion sizes are huge. Easily enough to feed two people well from a single meal. I saw two couples doing that. The service was good. We were a large party of 20 people, and the servers worked hard to take care of us. So I’ll give them stars for service and breadsticks. If you are good wearing stained sweats and t-shirts with holes to a restaurant, and want huge portions of fried food, head on over to Highland House and hide in their über-dark décor while you get your recommended daily allowance of fried food. If you prefer a menu that uses fresh ingredients, cooked with imagination, in a clean, comfortable atmosphere that doesn’t require yelling to be heard, maybe drive past Highland House and keep looking.

I came here to have a little birthday dinner with a friend before heading to the bar and I was taken back when I walked in. I have heard really good things about this place and I have no idea why. This place is a Coney Island that serves alcohol. Although, I ordered the Mac N’ Cheese and it was pretty good, I enjoyed it. The décor is extremely outdated, it is really dark and dingy(I don’t think there are any windows), and not very clean. The service was slow and the bathrooms were disgusting.

This place has really good breadsticks and ok pizza but they are pretty overpriced and the rest of the food is just ok. They probably should update their décor and menu. But their waitstaff is always really nice.

3.5 stars — First off, it’s very brown in here. Our 3rd visit in about 5 years to this location tonight. Walked in at 9:40pm on a Monday night. No dirty looks from the staff entering so close to closing time. There were still a couple of bar flies there and another small party remaining at a table near the bar. We were there an hour and the bar flies remained. Service was good and still welcoming. Food was decent(steak came rare as ordered for the BF, my chicken fettucine was a little better than gut-filling). Side Caeser salads that came with our meals were sizeable and particularly tasty. Even that late in the evening the breadsticks were hot and fresh. My iced tea was also started up fresh again, which was cool. I was not told, «We’re out, sorry about your luck, sister.» I appreciated that greatly because I am 5 months pregnant right now and reaaaaaallly wanted some iced tea(polished off 2.5 glasses worth). Prices are average to steep depending on what you order and for the type of aged /dated venue it is(a bit of a detractor for me personally).

Having grown up on the opposite side of town I didn’t know about Highland House until my husband and his family introduced me… I’m glad they did. The bread sticks, pizza & ribs are awesome! Honestly that’s all I’ve tried of the menu, but it’s enough for me to keep coming back! Typically we carry out so I can’t comment on the actual restaurant but my in laws eat in engender they are in town and just rave about everything.

Greek salad is famous. Meh. Not at all interesting. Breadsticks fresh and warm out of the oven slathered liberally with butter. Maybe just make a meal of these. Baked mostaccioli — stomach spackling. Seemed to continue to get bigger and bigger on the plate the more that I ate. Noted a reviewer who says the place hasn’t changed in 20 years. Easy to believe.
