Great place to dance. So many choices. Karen Kern and her staff work so hard to make it a great place for kids.

Karen’s School of Dance has been amazing to not only my child but to all of the children and families that are a part of this wonderful group. My daughter has been dancing for several years and was with another dance company prior to attending Karen’s. At the prior studio, we never saw the owner, were never informed of what was going on and not thinking our daughter was having an opportunity to grow and blossom as a dancer, Since she has attended Karen’s, we have been so impressed at her growth as a dancer and a person! They spend quality time with students, the teachers are caring and push the student’s to do their best and encourage them to expand their talents. Karen is always in the studio, watching the children, encouraging them and actively involved in creating a wonderful experience for the children and families. My daughter has learned to love dance and is expanding her abilities because of the care, attention and push from the staff. We are excited and proud to be a part of the Karen’s dance family and hope to throughout my daughter’s dance life. I highly recommend this studio!

Terrible. Specifically… sent my oldest daughter there… Fiasco with costumes for recital. Several costumes never came in… not their fault, but they wouldn’t give money back — not cheap, either. They called in a seamstress to make them. She was rude. The quality was horrendous. The girls with the ‘homemade’ costumes were in tears. And they acted like they were doing us a favor by torturing our girls. Just terrible. Fiasco with fundraiser. Didn’t receive advanced notice of when products would be in… instead, I got a very rude phone call demanding to know why we hadn’t picked them up yet, and when we were going to pick up our cookie dough. It had been sitting in their warm studio all day. I ended up throwing it out. I was afraid to give it to my friends and family. Instead I just gave them all their money back.(When NOBODY was picking up their cookie dough, wouldn’t you think they would realize that it was their fault for not telling us it was coming???) Ugh! Furthermore, I was kind of disgusted at the recital. My daughter was in a ballet class, but all the girls in the jazz and modern dance recital looked like they were in a class training them to be strippers. Honestly, the only thing these precious little girls were missing was a pole! Ew!!! Chose another studio the next year… very happy. I thought that the instructor was wonderful… Ms. Liliya was amazing. She just needs to find a better studio to work for! Terrible management! Just wanted to rebut the KSD response to my review… 1) She defended the costume fiasco by pinning all blame on costume maker. My gripe wasn’t that half of the girls’ costumes didn’t come in, it was that the substitutes were of such poor quality, and when I complained to who I was told was Karen, she literally told me that I was lucky that they weren’t asking me for more money, as apparently the seamstress was more expensive than the costumes for the rest of the girls.(Oh, and the seamstress was very curt/rude to me.) I DONOT hold KSD responsible for the costumes not coming in. 2) The fundraising fiasco — I’m glad that you’ve «improved» KSD communication. I hope that nobody ever has to answer her cell phone just before 9 p.m. to hear someone on the other end very rudely asking, «Why haven’t you picked up your cookie dough yet?» That was literally what said. Just very rude… and as I said, I ended up throwing out and refunding the money for about $ 75 of room temperature cookie dough, because I was afraid to use it myself. 3) However as for the«tasteless» dance… I guess we have very different ideas. When I sent my oldest daughter to KSD, we had just moved into the area… I have since come to know that a great many of my friends & neighbors have the same opinion… in fact the comment about the only thing being missing from the stage at the recital came from someone else. My husband and another Dad there said that they actually«felt kinda dirty» after leaving the recital watching young girls dance with very sexually charged and suggestive dance moves that they said they’ve seen before«in strip clubs.» My husband literally cringed a few times. I don’t believe that dance has to be sexually suggestive provocative to be beautiful and expressive. I also don’t believe that little girls need pounds of makeup to shine on stage. Just sayin’
