During my first visit to Highland, IL I found Railshake Brewery. The atmosphere is fabulous and the owner has an amazing vision to differentiate from other local restaurants and taverns. #railshakebreweryrocks!!!

This place is amazing in all ways possible. It incorporates the burgers from a burger joint, Cajun food and southern hospitality, and overall amazing food from a high class restaurant(which it is) the staff is great. The gumbo is to die for, and the hot wings are worth the wait for them. The décor and atmosphere brings a southern hospitality to the room and make you feel at home. The excel soda is amazing here since they have it on tap. The outdoor seating is amazing to watch a sunset with and overall an amazing place

Delicious! Great beer delicious food and friendly service. Everything you could want. The alligator tail was delicious, crisp and hot. The blackened white fish sandwich was tender and flavorful. The house Italian dressing was delicious. And I have not had house chips that were more on point, ever! Clean and well designed and decorated. We’re not from Highland and we’re rarely here but the next time we are, Railshake is where we will be.

Always excellent every time. The shrimp po boy is my favorite but haven’t had a bad thing yet! And LOVE to sit outside when it’s nice & just enjoy the night. Not too expensive & tons of drinks & beers to choose from!

Horrible food, horrible service. This place is pathetic. Management does not care about food quality what so ever

The muffuletta sandwich was very good. The wife had the catfish and it was even better than mine. Would definitely try again!

Railshake is a great bar/restaurant in Highland. The ambiance is friendly, clean, relaxed, and welcoming. The food is always tasty, hot, satisfying, and beautifully presented. I have been there for lunch and dinner with a few and with many. The experience has consistently been lovely! Cajun/Creole in Highland, Illinois? Yes!!! Bring it on!!!

This place is amazing!!! It was a wonderful atmosphere!!! The food was great and the people were super nice!!! The seafood raviolis was perfection!!! The three cheese shrimp dip was to die for! And the ice bar was super cool and very ideal for keeping your beer cold! I didn’t want to leave!!! I wish there was a place like this where I live!!!

First time visit recommended by a friend. Good food and environment. Garlic wings were just ok. Shrimp dip and chips were very good. Beer potato soup was wonderful.

Ate dinner at this place last night with some friends. The crab dip was amazing but the potato chips that came with it just wasn’t that good. We ordered some garlic bread sticks to go with it that was outstanding. We ordered a strip a ribeye and a chicken Alfredo pasta. This was probably the worst cut of beef I have ever seen. So much fat and gristle. One of the ribeyes was definitely off, had a type of slimy film on the bottom and ended making the two people that ate it sick. The Alfredo tasted like grass or a farm not sure what type of cheese or spices they used but it was awful. Definitely not a good experience and highly unlikely to go back again.

We’ve eaten here twice, and the craft beer — lover in me looks for opportunities to return. Food is well above — average for a bar. During one visit, they seemed to be a little short-staffed, but that didn’t affect the quality of service we received.

Full disclosure: I just returned from New Orleans two weeks ago. My girlfriend and I decided to drive to Highland to try Railshake Brewery on a recent Friday afternoon. First of all, this isn’t a brewery. While they do have 18 taps, they do not brew their own. We started off with the Boudin Balls. They were terrible. Way, way over cooked. The crust was hard to chew through. To top it off, they gave us some cheap-ass plastic plates. I opted for the Catfish and Hushpuppies for my entrée while my girlfriend had the Honey Mustard Glazed Chicken. The Hushpuppies tasted of nothing more than fried cornmeal. The red beans and rice were bland. The best part was the catfish. The flavor was good but it was soggy where the filets overlapped which was most of the fish. I wish they would have drained the grease of them a little better before putting them on the plate. My girlfriend had no complaints about her Honey Mustard Glazed Chicken. The best part of this place is the staff. They were very friendly and attentive. Would I be back? No. Girlfriend says yes.

Opening pains resolved and as a Baton Rouge resident married into a family of Louisiana natives; I can attest to the gumbo here being pretty authentic and spicy. It’s spicy enough to tingle your lips and tongue without being so hot that one tastes nothing but the hot sauce. I’ll be back soon! Paige at the bar was sweet as sugar and took great care of me!

I was a bit surprised I liked the food as much as I did although I did go in because of its Unilocal rating(I was in the area for Vintage Days). Not sure I liked the interior, the all wood pub-brewery thing that just seemed a bit too slick. Aside from that, the wait staff had great personalities and my food was out fairly quick. I ordered the spinach salad(very well balanced), the fried oysters(very good) and the beer soup which I thought was excellent. I may not go back simply because it’s just to far, but if i find myself in Highland again, I may just try the catfish if they have it.

Had a blast when we went here even though we where slightly out of place because I was with a bunch of bikers. It’s kind of a yuppy bar but we had fun anyway. Great drinks and the bar tenders know their stuff. Really want to go back to try the food!!!

This place has it going on. The food is off the hook and the bar area is great. They have a ice ring going around the bat that you set your beer on that keeps it cold. Great place. Be sure to check it out and Sarah rocks

Excellent food! Myself, my sister, and our friend F found this place with some help from Unilocal, and are so happy! We had the glazed chicken with veggies and red beans and rice, the muffaleta, and smoked pork sandwich. All very tasty! Portions are big and prices are very reasonable. They had the sometimes hard to find hard cider for me, and many more beers are available. Beautiful environment too. The one problem here is that there is no person seating guests. We had to stand around hovering over other guests waiting for some to leave. These guys are very successful and will only get more popular, but they have got to do something about seating people in an organized and fair manner. And they should renovate the second level and make that more seating or private party space. They’re good enough they should expand soon!
