San Jacinto Riverfront RV Resort

Clean, well-​maintained and located just south of downtown SA. Best part is definitely location, near San Jose Mission and right on the river walk which takes you into downtown and around the city. The «dog park» is under-​whelming and small, so don’t expect to play fetch with Fido there.
A Walmart Supercenter is 15 minutes away, with a giant parking lot should you need to pull in the RV.

Giving two stars because I feel that they take advantage of you with your deposit for the cottages. We stayed Easter weekend as well as the weekend before and both stays we only got back $ 12 out of our $ 50 deposit because the towels were «stained». The first stay I let it slide because I did not inspect the towels before leave, however the second stay I made sure we brought our own towels and I even took a picture of the white non stained towels when we left! To my surprise I only received $ 12 out of my deposit again! Again they said it was from soiled and stained towels. The towels were not stained but they will not refund any more money. These situations alone will most likely make me look elsewhere when we decide to stay out in highlands! Great property and friendly people but the damn towels just got me all angry about this resort. So take the white towels up to the front when you stay and just use your own so you will not have to pay $ 38 for towels!

Only giving 2 stars because this is a nice park. Rate is 400. For a standard site Per month plus 40.00 extra per month for my 1 year old since they only allow 2 kids in your monthly rate. My electric bill is 300.00 per month!!! .13 cents per kilowatt. Charged my guest $ 5.00 per night & for their vehicle $ 5.00 per night. Charge 40.00 per month to park our boat… First months rent: right at $ 1000. Plus 50.00 deposit for 2 key cards & 150.00 deposit for electric. Here’s the kicker… First off, I understand you have to make money & I have never complained about paying the noted fees/​rents due until we came home today to find out we are being EVICTED after 3 months of stay because our kids ride their bikes in the road!!! Yet, they are kid friendly!!! No! They said there are too many vehicles that come down our road & are going too fast, yet they haven’t kicked them out when the speed limit is suppose to be 15 mph. I watch my children when they are out & tell plenty of people around here to slow down & have complained with no follow ups on their part. This is our «home» so this is where we live. It’s a neighborhood. We travel for a living. So, for this residential RV park to say they are kid friendly & charge us an extra 40.00 per month per kid & then kick us out because our kids are riding their bikes down the street & «in the way» is down right BS! We are happy to leave this park & take our hard earned money somewhere else. FYI if you do have kids. The «playground» they have listed on their website is 3 swings & a basketball goal. & a mud pit/​swamp. Pool is cloudy & reaks of chemicals. Burns kiddos eyes. Treadmills in «gym» don’t work. People in front office are rude. They make up rules as they go… They say no satellites in grass yet there are TONS of others around. There’s a yard with a freaking trampoline in it! Hello??? Last time I checked, satellites are smaller than trampolines. But look who we are dealing with here. We are good, clean people who take pride in our family, our home on wheels, our job, & respect the parks property & their rules. But for them to kick us out b/​c our kids ride their bikes in the road is ridiculous! They have signs posted not to ride on the sidewalks & we have followed those rules. They also have signs stating to watch out for children too & speed limit 15mph.
If you have children or grandchildren & plan on staying here, please seriously reconsider. They are also kicking another family out for the same reason plus their kids using the bath house facilities. Mine did not but their children did & it was frowned upon. We are disgusted & and pissed off to say the least on how these «people» «manage» this so called resort. We are happy to take our family & 800.00 per month down the road to someone who appreciates families with kids… This place should not allow children to stay. (As plenty others in the area have this rule) Period.**** update**** found out other workers & families are getting kicked out for ridiculous reasons. Looks like they are just picking & choosing who they want in here. Maybe a «good olé boy» type park! Found another park down the road that is happy to accept our family & the others who have been asked to leave.
Definitely WILL NOT recommend this park nor stay here again! Upon checkout we were advised the reason we were asked to leave is because too many people had to watch out for kids in the park riding their bikes. & everyone who has kids was getting a letter… Don’t waste your time nor money!

Great place to stay for short or long term. Love the adult only pool and fishing pier. Office staff are all very nice and helpful. Very clean park.

This park is very well-​maintained and the facilities (pools, bathhouses, laundry room) are immaculate. The resort overlooks water, which is beautiful during the day and as the sun sets.
The campers are packed in pretty tightly, and for adult guests this is probably fine. However, other than the swimming pool next to the office, the only other amenities for kids are the two sets of swings, and as nice as they are, kids need more things to play on. Furthermore, the town of Highlands is woefully short on playgrounds. We found one about a 10-​minute drive away; we went looking for another, but ended up in a very bad part of town, turned around, and gave up trying.
I get the impression that many guests are staying here while they work in Houston (that’s why we’re here, in fact), but the resort really should use some of their available green space to add some kid-​friendly stuff.

Nur ca. 3 Meilen von der I-​10 entfernt liegt dieser große RV Resort direkt am San Jacinto River. Knapp 300 Stellplätze laden zum Verweilen ein.
Doch nicht alle sind verfügbar, auf vielen Sites stehen Dauerbewohner mit ihren gigantischen RV’s. Mit unserem 24 ft RV (Wohnmobil) kommen wir uns wie ein Floh vor.
Alle Fahrwege und Stellplätze sind betoniert und eben. Somit ist kein Level-​Ausgleich erforderlich. Alle Sites mit Wasser-​/​Strom– und Kabel-​TV-​Anschluss. Zwischen den Sites, die ausreichend groß bemessen sind, Rasenflächen, die so gut gepflegt und gewässert sind, dass sie nahezu Golfplatzqualität haben. Überall im Resort Zierbäume, die jedoch keinen Schatten spenden. Die Sites haben keine Grillstellen, wer grillen möchte, muss sein eigenes, mobiles Grill an Bord haben.
Freies WiFi ist selbstverständlich, aber der Empfang schwankt ständig und der Seitenaufbau ist sehr langsam.
Unten am sehr breiten Fluss sind Sites mit eigenen Spa-​Areas (Whirlpool). Das Clubhaus hat freien Blick auf den Fluss und die Anlegestelle (Pier), sowie einen Pool für Erwachsene. Oben am Eingang/​Office ist ein zweiter Pool für Kinder und Jugendliche.
Wir zahlten für eine Übernachtung $ 31,50 ($ 35 abzgl. 10% Good Sam Discount). Ein angemessener Preis für diesen Platz.
Fazit: Wer in der Umgebung von Houston einen Standplatz für 1 – 2 Nächte sucht, ist bestens aufgehoben. Ganz ruhig wird es hier allerdings nie, da die Geräuschkulisse des unaufhörlich rollenden Verkehrs auf der I-​10 bis hierher reicht.
