The Gig sort of keeps alive stores that I used to frequent before they became obsolete. I miss stores like«The Loop» and«Hegwisch Records», but stores like the Gig keep my faith alive that the sun still can continue to shine even when good things go away. The owner is extremely friendly and down to earth, and always plays good music. Sometimes he might even be playing guitar right in the store, all nonchalantly. I mean, come on, that’s awesome. They have a pretty decent record collection, a decent guitar selection, a nice band t-shirt selection, cd’s, and even some laser discs. They are also one of the few places left in the area that buys compact discs from you, and even VHS as well. There are just not enough cool record stores around these days, with real music lovers and a real selection. The Gig is the place to go to support real record stores if you live near highland or are visiting the area.
