Apple cider doughnuts are a must try! This is a great country orchard to bring your family to. Wilklow has a beautiful location in the hills, great for a photo-op! The weekends can be a tad crowded though with families visiting from the city.

This Columbus Day, I was hell bent on spending my day off out of the house, so my boyfriend and I ended up at Wilklow for a few hours. I’m not an apple orchard expert or anything, but this place was really wonderful! We paid about $ 20 for the large apple picking bag(which they explained holds about 20 to 25 pounds of apples). We also received a map of the orchard and two bright orange«I picked apples at Wilklow» stickers that we forgot to take off our shirts all day, including the entire duration of a lengthy visit to the grocery store. One of the things I really liked is the layout of the orchard. They had a bunch of different varieties of apples and they had it laid out with«streets» in between the rows of trees with cute names like«Pumpkin Ave.» and such. The apples themselves were great(I believe we mostly picked Red Delicious, Cortlandt and Jonagolds), but it was the cider donuts that really stole the show for me. They fry them right on site so they were hot and sugar covered and amazing. We bought two at 60 cents apiece, followed by just going for a dozen(which was the best $ 7 I’ve spent this month). I’m honestly astonished that we have any left at our apartment. The only thing that could be considered a negative about this orchard is that covering it all is somewhat physically demanding. The trails that lead you through the different sections are all uphill(a rather steep uphill), so it might not be for everyone. I think I’m a generally fit person and I was out of breath by the time we reached the top. Luckily, we were greeted with a few benches, where we ended up hanging out, snacking apples and enjoying the view.

I’ve been to Wilklow a number of times. They always have so many amazing great things to buy like honey sticks, my favorite freshly fried on site apple cider donuts, the most tasty delicious apple cider, and much more! This was the first time ice actually gone apple picking here and it was an amazing experience. Wilklow offers a massive variety of apples in a massive field of full filled orchard. Don’t want to walk? Don’t worry, tractor pulled wagons will take you to different stops along the orchard. I highly recommend stopping by!

One of the best! Great variety of apples to pick: Fuji, Empire, Cortland, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Macoun, Macintosh, Winesap, Gala, Mutsu — and I’m probably forgetting some. It wasn’t crowded at all on a Sunday afternoon in October. Tons of apples on the trees to pick. The cider donuts are made before your eyes and are to die for. Will be returning next fall for sure

Best apple picking ever. Great selection, beautiful farm and terrific staff. Fred and Sharon Wilklow are stars in the orchard business. And with a name like Wilklow, well, how cool is that? Worth a detour when in the New Paltz area. Bring the whole fam damily.

Great option not far from New York City. The place is really beautiful, went today and the leaves are turning so the setting is really nice. Pretty barn and apple orchards going up a hill make for a nice setting(surprising being so close to the city). Lots of apple choices(though I wish they could find a way to not waste so many on the ground, more an issue with the customers though). And their apple donuts are great, better than at other orchards we have gone to. They seal up your bag of apples and hold it for you so you can shop, very convenient. Overall a convenient, pleasant way to get outside and pick apples.

Picking apples at Wilklow Orchards is one of my family’s favorite fall traditions! We make the drive up to the orchard once a year from New York City and stock up on freshly picked apples, apple cider, and their delicious donuts. The orchard is open from 9 am — 5 pm daily from Labor Day to October 31st. Last year my family picked mid-October and had a decent amount of apples to choose from. This year we picked on September 28th and there were so many apples! We were amazed at how full and healthy all of the trees were and enjoyed searching for apples throughout the orchards. There were plenty of apples on the lower sections of the trees, which were perfect for our eight year old to pick. We filled one $ 22 bag, which holds about 20 pounds of apples. We also opted to carry one picker-pole, which we ended up not needing due to the large amount of low-hanging apples. The picker-poles require a $ 5 deposit, which you get back when you get your fruit bagged up at the end of your visit. The orchards at Wilkow are quite hilly and offer amazing views from the top rows. We love to admire the fall foliage at the top of the hill. If you have a hard time walking on hilly terrain, this orchard would not be ideal for you. In addition to apple picking, the orchard has a nice store with a variety of baked goods, decorative pumpkins to purchase, a small kids play area with blow-up structures to run around in, and a lot of fun Halloween decorations. A highlight for me is their amazing apple cider donuts! You can watch them being made fresh to order. The donuts are always hot, perfectly cooked, and coated in delicious cinnamon and sugar!

Slightly hidden Orchard along the Apple Trail. Well kept grounds and tons of delicious apples. So many in fact we carried more than our bag back. I will note it is not flat, but it makes for an amazing view as you enter and when you get to the top.

Great apple orchard to visit. My family and I have been making annual trips up to Wilklow to pick our own apples since 2000. Must try their apple cider doughnuts!

Long drive from nyc, but good donuts. You can put a deposit on poles that help you to get apples. They were open when other places were closed already. They have a great store, and you can watch them make donuts, which my sons really enjoyed. They have a hot dog cart, and displays and goofy things you can stick your head in for photos, and some fun things the kids can go in, with slides, and balls flying around. I really liked this place. The apple picking is scenic and lovely. I’ve only been to a place on Long Island and I’d say this place was better, even if it was a shorter drive. Since it was the end of the season, the bags were $ 10 instead of $ 20, and there were not a whole lot of apples beyond the Golden Delicious and the Rome apples, but we filled a bag and had a good time. My cousin took me here, he’s gone her many times when he went to Vassar, and I think it’s a good place, liked it a lot.
