The food here is pretty good. Not the best in the area, but really good. I love the atmosphere and the views of NYC when the sky is clear. Great live bands and crowd during the summer. My favorite dish here was the grilled Mahi Mahi, i believe it was the special when I ordered it so I don’t know how often they have it.

I’ve been going to windnsea my whole life. The past few times I have gone I’ve been very disappointed with the service.
You can’t beat the views and the atmosphere of this place, I love the tiki bar in summer. Lately this place has been extremely under staffed and because of that it’s always a nightmare trying to get drinks.
I’m writing this review because after last night’s experience I will not be going back. This is always the place my friends and I get together when we are all back in town because we’ve been going for years. At the ugly sweater Christmas party last night the bar was extremely under staffed and the people at the door decided to pack the building to capacity. If you were able to get close enough to the bar for a drink you then had to wait about 10 minutes for a bar tender (not their fault). Once someone finally came to take my order they refused to make any mixed drinks or take my credit card because «we don’t have time» and «we will be here all night closing out bills». I guess that’s not part of the job description anymore? So I bought what I could with my cash, and never went back for another drink.
This place is only losing money by making decisions like this.

Service is the worst. Waited 45 min to sit finally got a table Not one person came to serve us or say be right with you for 15 minutes so we walked out. Not 1 person even asked or stopped us

I visited at the recommendation of a friend. I wasn’t disappointed but I wasn’t blown away. I had the panko and Parmesan crusted chicken with risotto and vegetables. Nothing special and I was absolutely starved so I would have expected to be more excited about the food. My dinner guests had clams, oysters, and scallops. We had a great server, Gina, and have no complaints about service or drinks. Truly, no complaints about anything. The food was pretty average albeit pricey. I’ll happily pay a premium to avoid the Jersey Shore crowd though.
Great band, by the way. And I’ll definitely go back. It was fine.

I usually try to never give lower than three or four stars, but this place is terrible. I’m allergic to dairy, which means, if I eat it, I will get sick. When you order a 30 dollar meal (VERY overpriced, btw) and it comes smothered in butter when you asked several times to make sure that the meal was dairy free, you’re gonna be frustrated. There’s no bigger turn-​off than a restaurant that isn’t allergy conscious.

This place is great but the manager is so rude!

Went here with my husband for our anniversary on the 4^th of July. The ambiance is really nice indoors, friendly staff that’s very attentive, and the food was pretty good and fairly priced. We didn’t stay for the rest of the night, but it looks like a nice time outside on their tiki bar. Will be back.

We randomly ended up dining at Windansea because it didn’t have as long a wait as some of the other restaurants in the area. The service was not bad, the margaritas were pretty good, but the quality of the food was absolutely atrocious! Windansea’s seafood is not at all fresh; in fact, two of three people in my party got sick from it. When we contacted the restaurant manager to inform of the bad clams they served, he made accusations about our sincerity– which was uncalled for because we were not making any requests for a refund or anything as we would never go back there. If you’d like a fresh seafood meal, I highly recommend that you take your business elsewhere.

Excellent place to lounge on the deck during the weekend to hear live bands play can’t beat the roasted clams or mussles in a white wine broth best to come by boat to avoid trying to find parking

Awesome! Service was really good and the seafood is really fresh… try the oysters! The outside Tiki Bar area is really nice to sit and eat they have live music with waterfront views. You can even drive your boat right up to the restaurant, we will definitely be back!

I was just here a few nights ago… funny enough with sandi r. Wonderful dinner and terrific staff. I cannot wait to go back!

The favorite place of my friends and family. Wonderful views, awesome food, and terrific service. It’s a MUST if you’re a local, or tourist looking for the authentic Shore feel (without the hair gel and spray tan)…

The view is spectacular but the food not so much. Two of our party ordered seafood risotto which was a watery sloppy mess. The flounder francaise was decent but how hard is it to mess that up.
$ 150 for a good view.

It’s fun. The view is great. We only had seafood/​pub appetizers. They were all pretty standard — not bad, nothing special. My friends and I had a great time drinking by the water.

It was ok. I asked for my steak medium and it was well done. My crab cake was burnt. I won’t be back. But may today was the cooks bad day

I came here for the first time this past Saturday with a buddy for dinner and drinks. I like the place for the most part, but it needs some tweaks.
The view and the outside dining are great and the band that was playing was very good. We ordered the shrimp and grits appetizer, which was excellent, my one complaint is that the shrimp/​portion should be bigger, but it was very tasty. I think that is my main complaint. I ordered the raw oysters and clams which were tasty, but very small in size. I am comparing the size of the shrimp, clams and oysters to those at Bahrs, which are twice the size and similar in price.
The sangria here is very good and is much better than the sangria at Bahrs, the drinks in general were good. Our server was also very good and the male manager was very friendly and checked on us a few times to make sure we were happy.
This is a very nice and cool place to either bring a date or hang with friends and I will be back… let’s just work on the food portions.

Service Awful, crab cakes small, burnt (both orders) scallops wrapped in bacon OYE they must have taken one scallop and cut it up into pieces they were TINY. Lobster Roll no lobster and tons of MAYO, Shrimp Risotto OYE nothing but mush

One of my friends recommended this place and said this place was really good, so i figure i give it a try because if you don’t try, then you don’t know, after a long day bike riding to asbury park, we went to this place, having 2 road bikes on top of my car, i was no way going to give the keys to the valet person, the valet person said you can park it yourself a couple of blocks down, still a no for me, so i decided i rather take a risk and park the car outside on the street, the bikes were locked onto my rack and were still there after dinner, wahoo, i would never do this in nyc.
now to the food, service was kind of slow for me, the lady trying her best, but the restaurant seemed to be understaffed, i had the seafood frav…, where in the world do jalapeño’s mix with seafood? I couldn’t even taste the seafood, the pasta that came with the seafood was decent, this entrée had scallops, shrimp, fish, clams. The fish was too fishy for me. The scallops seem to be under cooked, bad experience for me. I took a piece of crab cake from my friend and it was decent, tasted really fresh, but my friend said it was too salty, i guess i didn’t really taste it when i had the small portion. The calamari was decent, cooked pretty well.
They have outdoor seating if you want to wait an eternity, if you hungry, not the best of ideas.
It was an okay place, not the greatest, would definitely go somewhere else when in the area next time.

Seafood restaurant in Highlands, NJ. Right on the water with a great view of the harbor if you can square away a outside table. The outside balcony seating is small so the tables are few and far between. Supposedly 2 hour wait when we were there. Inside seating was 30 min.
We ordered these items which i thought was the highlights. Fried calamari, grilled shrimp, lobster avocado salad. All were deliscious. The bacon wrapped scallops i thought was a bit small and greasy as it was fried on the grill. The main i had was the crab cakes which was pretty salty. Friends at the table also ordered the seafood mix pasta which was way overboard on the pasta and the fish seemed kinda frozen and fishy taste/​smell. Overall the lobster pasta dish was a hit.
Service was a bit scattered as they got some salad and drink orders wrong and was a bit scarce on checking up on us but apologetic. It’s a ok spot for dinner but in the area you’ll find better spots.
