Special gal enjoyed a terrific chopped salad with tasty shrimp. Also an awesome shrimp cocktail. The money bags pasta wad excellent with marinara. Great coffee. Attentive service. Seems clean. Why only 3 stars? I had the ribs. Very medicore. What wad i thinking? Only order tibs at twin achor and portillos you dummy. Too expensive too.

I’m being very generous with the two stars here. I was there a few months back and have been meaning to write this review for a while now. I went there with my family, which at the time included my then 15 month old son. From my understanding, this was supposed to be a family restaurant. Boy was I wrong. We had been waiting for our food a while, and my son became restless. No tantrums, no screaming. He just whined a little. I’m not one to keep my son in a restaurant while throwing a tantrum. Anyways, some lady, who I believe is the owner, said to me «control your child.» so rude. I couldn’t believe the way she said it. She clearly has a thing against kids from what I’ve read in other reviews. Needless to say I will never go back. The only reason I have 2 stars instead of 1 is because our waiter was very nice. Such a shame bc we used to go here regularly.

Totally awesome. First time but won’t be our last. The drinks & food were more than generous. Servers were very friendly plus the owner stop by the table to make sure we were happy. Can’t wait to go back

Talk about blast from the past. Came here on a Saturday night for early dinner and it was already packed by 6:30. The bar area was hopping and the hostess took our name and had a drink at the large bar. Got seated quickly in the bar area where it seemed less«Geri» in one of the dark red booths. The waitstaff were friendly and efficient as he took our drink orders and then dinner orders without being rushed. Started with the house salads which Coke with the entrees and it was a pretty substantial salad with really delicious blue cheese dressing on the side. We both ordered ribs and I got a side of fried chicken. The ribs were tender and not fall off the bone like I like it and came with a vinegary bbq sauce– again the way I like it. If you like sugary sweet bbq and fall of the bone, this isn’t the place for you. The chicken was crisp and juicy albeit needed more salt but an easy fix. It came with your choice of starch and I got a baked potato. Another delicious choice. Not many supper club places around and we Definitely will be back here!

This woman claims to go to each table twice but I can attest to the fact that she didn’t come to our table even once, nor enter the«kiddie» room, period. Not while we were there. And it’s sad that she leaves it up to me to complain about a dinner. I shouldn’t have to complain at all and since we were starving as it was — and since it was the second chance I’ve given this establishment, i made the conscious choice to never return and Unilocal the place instead.

I tried to take my family to the night and gale last night. I have driven by many times and wanted to try the place. Before I left home checked the hours online and used google maps navigation to get there. The hours posted on Google and trip advisor as well are 5am-10pm. We walked in a couple minutes after 9pm and were swiftly met by a young man who informed us the kitchen is closed. I took out my phone and showed him the hours posted on Google and his response was«well we aren’t open at 5am either.» And that was it no apologies for the inconvenience or anything. I felt like I was in the Jim Crow South my parents grew up in trying to get service at a segregated lunch counter. I have worked in restaurants for years and am currently in commissioned retail sales so I understand being ready to go home, but that is no excuse to be rude to customers who planned on trying your restaurant for the first time. I will never go back so I have been to the night and gale twice: first and last time:(

After movie late dinner. Sat in bar area. Probably had the best fried shrimp I ever tasted. Large jumbo, lightly breaded and fresh. Baked potato was done perfectly. Hot, dry outside with a lot of solids inside. Had to be an Idaho. Lot of restaurants wrap in foil that streams it. Not here. Great gin and tonic. Young Waitress was also very good… and that was at the end of a long shift. Yes this has been open for years. Other than a new floor in bar, the décor is dated. But it’s real and the food is worth the visit

Came here on a Friday night(n gale(hahhh)) to get a scrumptious steak dinner. We are a group of ten. All of our orders were brought out correctly but we were accidentally given an extra double baked potato. Why on this night do we bake once and not twice? Because when i was your age i would bake a potato at home and carry it while walking to school(going uphill) on frozen sheets of ice because it was always winter. They kept my little digits warm. Anywho, I enjoy remembering the days of simple non GMO legumes and decided to relive my younger days so I ordered mashed potatoes. The waiter told us he was Greek so I asked him why Cronus decided to eat all of his children. He responded by bringing me a filet that was cooked to perfection. The staff(not to be mistaken for a trident) here is great and the food is a decent price for the quality. 4 stars.

I meandered into this restaurant and enjoyed the dim lights. I was seating inca chair that caused my glutes to cramp bit I hung in there and made the best of an uncomfortable situation. The waiter brought delicious warm white bread and bread stick. It was delicious and probably ruined my appetite. I ordered the steak and my grandma ordered the rack of lamb. Both items were great pieces of meat, cooked to our specifications but lacked flavor and salt. For desert we had Homers ice cream, this highlight of the meal. Above average but below excellent. Ample parking, four stars.

Outdated, dark feel inside. Menu is also fairly basic and food was average. There are too many other great choices.

Yeah, no. I have 2 teenage sons. Takes a lot to fill them up. They’re both over 6′ tall. Spaghetti and meatballs for $ 18!!! No just no. Nothing like leaving a restaurant hungry and have to feed them again at home. Ridiculous.

Never been to Highwood before but needed to get dinner around 8:30/9:00 in the north shore and stumbled across Nite N’ Gale. The classic look of a classy spot that’s stood the test of time was irresistible. The experience was nothing to regret. They served up cold drinks, and delicious made to order food. I had the thin crust pizza and a giant guiness in a frozen mug, which was fantastic! Great cracker crust. My wife had the fried chicken sandwich and a blue cheese martini, and my brother had a grilled/charred chicken entrée with a baked potato and a crown on the rocks. Service was great, and we all left feeling satisfied. Thanks Nite N Gale!

Definitely an older crowd. Love the menu where you can mix the excellent ribs with fried chicken or shrimp and more. Excellent thin crust pizza. I would go back just for that and a ice cold Sam Adam’s on tap.

We attended Nite N’ Gale during the 2014 Pumpkin Fest after leaving Tap House Grill because we made a reservation and they didn’t honor it. We were seated immediately, received friendly, prompt service. Food was very good. Family oriented. Prices were very reasonable. Portions were very big. If you’re in Highwood, this place is a solid place to grab some food and drinks, even during Pumpkin fest.

STAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE, The bread looked good was warm but doughe inside, The house salad had 1 tomato and 1 cuke slice on it, Italian dressing weak, Ceasar dressing and blue cheese dressing $ 1.25 extra. Ravioli with tomatoe sauce came as tortolina instead without letting us know, and the Tomatoe sauce was week, The small mini pastas filled with cheese had no flavor, 1 dish with meat sauce over mini pastas came very dry. The al forno dish had no garlic flavor and was very dry. The Tomatoe Soup of the day came luke warm, should have been hot. The Ice tea we ordered was week and warm not enough ice. It was also only 5:30 when we ate and the opened at 5:00,

Ba-da-bing! I just walked onto the set of American Hustle! With highbacked red vinyl booths, dim lighting, smoked glass and mediterranean style furniture, this is a total throwback in time. While there are a lot of Italian specialties on the menu, the place comes off as an upscale Greek restaurant with the variety of sandwiches, pizzas, pastas and chops. The quality is above average and the menu is old school. We tried the buttery, garlicky shrimp dejonghe and you get your choice of side, soup or salad, and their really good homebaked bread to accompany. The shrimps were huge and the vessel was so hot I burned my tongue. Service is professional and mature. Completely on the spot, the place has a full heavy pour bar as well. It’s a great atmosphere. Perfect late night spot for a date or after your nitecap.

There is something to say for old school dining that hasn’t risked upgrading or modernization for quality. The portions are generous and the food delicious. Is the menu dated just like the interior, yes, but who does not like going in to a place that time forgot and coming out thankful time has not caught up to an old time gem? The fried chicken is divine and the special veal chop was wonderful and large and I wish I would have had two of them. The sides are a little on the bland side, but nothing salt and pepper wouldn’t fix(remember this is an older establishment that is catering to its original crowd). Think red carpeted walls and old pleather seating with some friendly wait staff and some, well they have been there a while. The drinks are made for those that like the heavy handed pour! I will be back for some nostalgia and good eats!

We enjoyed Nite n Gale. The bread was excellent and my kid ate an entire loaf of it. The seafood chowder was quite tasty. The shrimp de Jonghe was pretty righteous. The thin crust pizza my kid got was right on the money. Super thin crust. Very impressed. The owner lady was super nice and very sweet. I can recommend whole heartedly!
