The best meal I’ve had in a long time. The service was more than excellent. Everyone was so helpful, the food was WONDERFUL. The environment was nice and subtle. The price is a little much, but I’d gladly go back and get the same things again. My only gripe was the place was a little loud for a dinner date for two, but I think it was just the people who decided to go that night. Either way, we had a wonderful time and would gladly to back again and again.

Went there with three friends and we all shared and tried a lot of different appetizers and entrees and the only one that was memorable was the risotto…

We came here around 5 right when they opened and had no problem getting in. Everyone was super friendly and even the owner gave us a warm welcome. Our server came to the table promptly and was extremely attentive thought out the night. Immediately, he brought a small sample of the chefs tasting which was superb and filled with flavors. For an appetizer(it wasn’t easy deciding) we settled for the tater tots and calamari. The tater tots were not my definition of taters… I guess they were fancy tater tots because, in my opinion, they were more like breaded mashed potatoes. The calamari had a great batter crust and the selection of sauces were a great touch. For the entrees, we of course felt it was necessary to order steaks. After all, this place is ranked in many magazine for their steaks. I settled with the 6 oz filet with a blue cheese crust and my boyfriend ordered the 20 oz bone in dry aged ribeye. My steak was definitely good especially with the bernaise sauce! However, I would not say it’s the best steak I’ve ever had. I still think Bavette’s has the best steak. My boyfriend thought his was good but not anything special and, trust me, he always orders steaks at the top restaurants. It’s all a matter of preference though. Some people think this place offers the best steaks around Chicago. I agree that this is a top restaurant. Everything on the menu sounds delicious and I devoured our side dish of cauliflower. Who would think cauliflower could be so good?! Overall, our meal was great. The chef even ended the night with complementary truffles! This place is definitely doing it right.

Hands down — wonderful dining experience. My husband and I were greeted at the door by a warm and polite GM. He consistently checked in during our meal and recommended a fantastic bottle of wine(Paring, red blend) that complimented our steak perfectly. Very knowledgable — trust his advice! We started with the mushroom risotto — unbelievable. Cooked to perfection and the braised oxtail was an outstanding addition to the dish. We both had steak(filet for me, wagyu for hubby) — one of the best steaks we’ve ever had. We also ordered a side of brussel sprouts and caulifower. Awesome. Can’t wait to come back! Yes, it’s pricey — but you get what you pay for. Well worth the investment.

Very disappointed. Entrees took 2 hours to serve. 3 out of four steaks over cooked. When we complained they still failed on cooking it and came down with a steak half the size. As far as sides, all were very bland. Brussels sprouts were the worst of it all. Wouldn’t come back.

I may not eat steak, but I do love the Chicago Steakhouse experience for the atmosphere, service and seafood alone. I’ve been wanting to check out PM Prime since they opened their doors in Highwood about a year ago and finally got the opportunity last Saturday. The service was great. From the minute we walked in the door we were greeted, asked if they could take our coats(yes, coats in June… sigh) and sat down to a little taste of something that the chef sent over. While most would go straight for the meat on the menu, I looked at the seafood options and ultimately decided on the caprese salad followed by the crab cake appetizer. My salad & crab cake were just OK. I devoured both, but more out of hunger than anything else. My friend ordered the wild steelhead salmon and was nice enough to share a bit with me. The horseradish sauce on the side was a nice touch. Our husbands went for the meat. My husband went w/the smaller ribeye, but they brought out the large one so it «wouldn’t go to waste in the kitchen.» He mentioned later on that it was a bit fatty for his liking. As for sides we ordered asparagus and tater tots(sooo good). And even better than the tater tots were the donuts we ordered for dessert. Easily my favorite part of the meal! I left satisfied, but not overly impressed compared to steakhouses I“ve frequented in the city. PM Prime is just as expensive so I’d personally rather drive a little further into the city and spend my money there, but for steakhouse lovers nice to have this as a local option.

PM Prime is now about a year into operation at the old Gabriel’s space in Highwood. It is a very handsome space with dark woods and comfortable tables. Vintage photos of aviation luminaries like Howard Hughes, Amelia Earhart, Jimmy Doolittle adorn the walls. Owned by Stephen Platcow, managed by Bob Bansberg(who also acts as the sommelier), with Midwest James Beard nominated Chef Dominic Zumpano directing the kitchen, this is a extremely competent operation. As this is a steakhouse, the emphasis is on the beef, sourced from the Niman Ranch in California. The dining experience here is wonderful. You are warmly greeted at the door and the service is supplied at a high level throughout the evening. The food is presented in visual splendor that matches the high level of expertise in its creation. I had the crab cake, seasoned perfectly and matched with a subtle remoulade. My entrée was the 16 ounce dry aged bone in NY Strip, served at the asked for red warm center medium rare. For the table, we had sides of cauliflower florentine(with baby spinach in a white sauce), forest mushrooms, and shoestring potatoes. The mushrooms were not seasoned, but perked up with requested salt and pepper. All of us had steak for entrées and all came the medium rare requested. No sauces, just prime beef at its best! I can’t speak to the quality of the fish entrées, as none of us had any, but I would be willing to bet that they are excellent as well. Entrées are served with no sides, so ordering some sides is a good idea. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake for two, served with buttermilk gelato. This cake could easily feed six people, as it was a 3 inch high and about 7 inch diameter cake! It was excellent as well. So, if I liked it so much, why only 4 stars? My caveat with PM Prime is the price. Everything is about 25% more costly than it should be. My strip steak was $ 59.00, the bone in rib eye was $ 59.00, and the very small sides averaged $ 11.00. For comparison, at Ruth Chris’ a 16 ounce boneless NY prime aged strip is $ 48.00, a 22 ounce bone in rib eye is $ 54.00, and sides are easily double or triple the size of the sides at PM for less money. The steak quality is the same, absolutely top notch. Steve Platcow, you have a great operation at PM Prime, excellent in every other criterion except for value for money. One expects to pay prime prices for this kind of quality, but not prime plus. Give better value for the money and you will have a full restaurant every night.

In from Pittsburgh, PA to visit my husband who recently graduated from Naval Station Great Lakes. I wanted to take him to a fabulous restaurant and congratulate him with an amazing meal. My 11 month old twins and I have not seen him for over 2 months, we were excited to spend time with him. So… we ended up at Pm Prime. We ordered lamb chops, 2 orders of prime rib, oysters Rockefeller, iceberg salad, pureed potatoes, brussel sprouts, and mac n cheese. My mother accompanied us as well. She also had 2 martinis. Basically we came to eat and spend money. However this experience was short lived. You see, my twins were excited to see my husband after not being with him for 2 months, and they began sqwack a little. Well the host came over and let us know we should walk about so the babies would not disturb the other customers with the minor sqwacking. Note* we made reservations and informed them that we were brining 2 babies with us. So our food began to arrive and our happy babies sqwacked some more. Now he returned again to tell us to basically take a hike as we were about to enjoy our seemed to be delicious meal. By now we were irritated with this baby hater, I mean a 12 hour drive from Pittsburgh to Chicago, I haven’t seen my husband who is proudly serving his country in 2 months, who just wanted to enjoy a nice meal, who by the way looked very handsome in his dress whites, and now as we were about to eat this fool comes and makes my poor husband leave his meal to walk my daughter around so she doesn’t annoy the stiff patrons of this trumped up establishment? How unpatriotic and down right pretentious. NOW my appetite is ruined. All of our appetits are ruined, my husband couldn’t even enjoy his lamb chops and the company of his family. If he hadn’t been living of boot camp fare for 2 months, he wouldn’t even have woofed down this overpriced meal, because he didn’t enjoy it… I guess you are a selective establishment who can afford to chase off patrons who can easily spend $ 200 or more on a meal at one sitting like it ain’t no body’s business. Last time I checked money was green? Or is it? Bottom line, do not eat at this restaurant if you have children under 1 years old who are happy and love their daddy, or mommy, or are just being babies because old boy will come and give you the bums rush, because they obviously have selective patronage.

Chef Dominic Zumpano does it again. Holy Sh*t…loved, loved, loved, and it’s not because I know Chef Dom. I know him and respect him and his staff(sous chef James), they are a talented bunch. The wife and I ordered our drinks, staff was very attentive and not over bearing. We looked at the menu and I was pleased that it was kept simple, not a lot of choices, which I think it great… too much is too much to think about and too hard on the kitchen. We ordered a couple oysters, french onion soup, a wedge salad, steaks and a couple sides(brussels and frites). Dom sends out his foie appetizer, tuna(which the wife doesn’t eat, so twist my arm to do it myself) and his octopus. By far, THEBEST octo I’ve ever eaten, so tender and delicious with a nice char and spice(as a contributing chef to SousVide Supreme, I’m so happy he uses this technique). I was full after the apps, and the soup and salad didn’t even come yet. French onion soup was rich, velvet-ty and delicious. the wedge, not your typical steak house wedge.,.heirloom tomatoes, blue cheese and bacon lardons line the bottom of the plate with a zesty pesto, topped with buttery lettuce on top… awesome. The steaks came perfectly cooked, the sides were great, and enough for at least 4 people… just awesome. Then dessert came, a beautifully plated dessert of chocolate and other flavors that just melded together with different textures, it looked to good to eat… but, then again, nothing stops a fat chef from diving in. The second dessert, I think called Bombolini… amazing donut like balls filled with a brown sugar caramel/custard…holy f*cksticks…this meal made me mess myself. As a chef, I love to cook, I love to eat, and I love to enjoy when I go out and someone else is cooking. What I love most, is when I eat a meal where I know the chef in the back cares about what they are doing… and Chef Dom cares. He is meticulous with every detail, and it shows in his food. I was so impressed, and so blessed to have had this meal from my friend(who knows if it were sh*t, there wouldn’t be a review). Thank you Dom and James, we loved our dinner, I can’t wait to go back… and I encourage everyone that reads this to experience this jewel of a restaurant in Highwood.

Wow! Great experience! I made a res via the Unilocal app & requested they make things special for my daughter who we were celebrating her Navy Basic Training graduation & her 20th b-day. Well, they certainly did! I won’t say how as I don’t want to lessen the surprise for anyone, but i will talk about the food. I had probably the BEST oyster Rockefeller of my life. My halibut was perfect! It was on a bed of veggies & bacon that were perfect. The fries were like little crunchy string fries & were hard to eat, but tasty. I’ve actually had better steak, but it was cooked correctly & we were taken very good care of, making the whole experience enjoyable. If I lived closer, I’d go back!

LOVELOVELOVE the new supper club menu! Fine dining experience without the fine dining expense! The tater tots are to die for! The Oysters Rockefeller were out of this world! And of course my favorite filet mignon is always delicious do not pass up their garlic Parmesan crust! We also tried the prime rib — it was fabulous! Lobster risotto was out of this world! The staff is friendly and the service is excellent. We have sat at the bar & in the dining room — you can’t go wrong with either! Highly highly recommend this place — great for a date or for larger groups– the atmosphere is perfect for both. Do not miss out on PM Prime!!!

Great little steak house on the north shore. Services is personable and impeccable. Very small place so it can get loud. The service is slow but let’s you relax before you attack the meat. Steak is the name of the game. The food is good. The appetizer risotto with short rib was great. Salad was just ok. Don’t recall the né of it. The steak was great. Had the 16oz dry aged ny strip. The sea brim was the whole fish with great flavor and presentation. Side dishes are small but enough for two to share. We had two sides for four of us. Wine is not cheap. Cocktails looked good. Overall it’s a nice steakhouse on the north shore but not on the inexpensive side. They do have a cool real moon man from the Rolling Stones which the owner bought at an auction.

Update: partner & I dropped in for a quick date night bite at the bar & were pleasantly surprised at how the management has modified the«fine dining experience» for those who just want to sit at the bar for a meal or because it’s busy. The bartender was ONIT. Not usually a big drinker and/or into specialty drinks but I was inspired by the suggestions made to us for wine & a Peanut Butter Alexandria(name may be incorrect) & the ways they complimented our meal. Also: stone crabs & the house sauces had me at hello.

A classy, friendly dining experience. PM Prime might be the new kid on the block but you’d swear they’d been there for a decade. There is something for everyone on the menu and the wait staff are well versed in the dishes, and ready to make recommendations. Stone crab started off the evening, complemented by fresh baked bread. The Parmesan risotto with white truffles was invigorating for my endorphins, a food high like no other. After sharing a medium rare New York strip stake and golden baked potatoes, the meal was topped off with a cheesecake served with raspberry and chocolate crumble amazing. And if that wasn’t enough, chocolate custard with meringue closed the deal. I will definitely be returning on my next trip Chicago.

My husband and I visited the PM Prime in Highwood for the first time on Saturday. The management has done a nice job of updating the former Gabriel’s space and putting their own stamp on it. Feels more cozy and romantic. My husband had the shrimp appetizer, and from the first bite was impressed. Very tasty, and a great idea to include your own bottle of Tabasco to add more fire to the sauce if you like. I had the foie gras, and it was fabulous. Foie gras was done just right, and the flavors with it really complimented the appetizer. My husband ordered the Wagyu beef filet, and finished every bite. :-)(Frequently he will leave a small portion for me to take home to our dogs, but he ate every morsel.) I debated whether to order the salmon in a steak house, but the waiter(Manuel, did a great job) reassured me that it was an excellent choice, and I couldn’t agree more. Nice selection of wines by the glass rounded off our dinner. We even had dessert, which we frequently skip. Truly magnificient goat cheese cheesecake. Not a huge portion, which, to me, is better. I always feel as though I am wasting something if I don’t finish, but this was just the perfect size to split. We will definitely be returning.

This is in fact a Prime steakhouse. One of the best steaks I have ever had. The cost of the entrees are up there but you are paying for what you get. Really great for special occasions and people that understand that Outback is not a steak house. Great wine list and the service team was really knowledgeable, helpful and attentive . I will be back the next time I am in Chicago. Über got us back to the city after dinner in 35 minutes

PM Prime is a very new restaurant. In fact, I visited on their second night and despite some slow moments, overall it was very good. This is an elegant steakhouse located in the North Shore suburb of Highwood, IL. Steps across from the Metra station, it’s easy to get to by train and they also offer complimentary valet parking. This is not a very big restaurant so it can get loud especially when full of patrons. Our server seemed as if he was still getting familiar with the menu so there wasn’t anything on the menu he was excited to really recommend. Since it was their second night of opening, we leaned towards our favorite cuts of steak and chose a couple starters. I was happy to see Soft Shell Crab offered and it was cooked beautifully. Patrick had the Heirloom Tomatoes and Burrata which was plated artistically. I liked the proscuitto ‘roses’! For our steaks, I stuck with my favorite cut, the bone in ribeye while Patrick had a NY Strip. PM Prime also offers dry aged steaks so we opted for that. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and solid. They do steaks extremely well so if anything, come for their steaks! Sides were separately ordered so we chose their Peas & Carrots served with a carrot top pesto and Glazed Potatoes with bacon and carmelized onions. As simple as the descriptions may be, the sides were also done nicely and paired well with our steaks. Lastly for dessert, we had the Spumoni(pistachio financier, cherry and chocolate) and the Goat Cheese Cheesecake with butterscotch and toffee streusel. This was a nice steakhouse set in a good location among other fine restaurants so I’m hopeful they will do well. Once things settle a bit after the new opening, I look forward to going back and trying out their raw and chilled seafood starters, along with more of their great steaks!

This review is 4.5 stars. Food is phenomenal for steak house fare. Steaks are awesome. Go for any of the sauces as the two we had were delicious but did not take away or overpower the quality of the steaks. For sides — try the Brussels sprouts. They are shredded and really delicious — and I am not a big sprouts fan. Oysters and cold shrimp were really fresh. Sommelier was a great guy and knows booze and beer as well. My only issue is the price of the steaks. There is no reason a piece of beef should cost north of $ 75(as good as they are). They also had a Kobe beef appetizer special(4.5 oz with truffles). It was $ 135 … For an appetizer … We got a good chuckle out of that.
