I thought I was at Chucky Cheese. Kids were allowed to scream and run back and forth one foot from my table during the entire meal. $ 16.95 for a meal. I wouldn’t go back even if they offered free margaritas. The food was great but I was so mad I couldn’t stop shaking. It was ridiculous. For that price you’re paying for the atmosphere but I wouldn’t deal with that circus even for free margaritas. If you want to eat hear take a bullet to bite on and ear plugs. This place used to be first class now it’s first graders at recess.

Pretty average at best, doesn’t even make the top 10 in Hillsboro for Central American cuisine. Partner ended up having a burrito that smelt like off fish. I had beef mole which was also of pretty low quality ingredients and very bland, Overall not that impressed by the place

meh. On one hand, we were there around 8pm on Cinco de Mayo(May 5th). So, they were probably busier than they probably would be. We opted to sit in the bar/cantina area instead of waiting circa 15 minutes for a table on the restaurant side. When we got seated the server immediately approached and asked what we wanted to drink – which was a plus. I got a margarita on the rocks, and my hubby got a margarita blended. And, they gave us a basket of chips and salsa in a pourable container, with two small bowls(which was nice). We were planning on ordering food, but after one sip of my «margarita» I decided I did not want to trust this establishment with food. Basically, my drink tasted like a large fish bowl– filled with nothing but the sweet & sour Mixer. Negligible tequila. Same with my hubby’s «blended margarita». Given that it was busy as well from the holiday, the service seemed like the potential to be slow, so that made the decision to ask for our bill a little more justified. However, I was a little taken aback when we asked for the bill, the server went to the computer/bar area to make some calculations and gave us our total verbally of: $ 16.90 no paper slip whatsoever. So, we payed cash, and tip and left. Seemed pretty spendy for a couple glasses of margarita mix sans alcohol. We actually left those margaritas behind, and didn’t come close to finishing them. WHICHIS A HUGETHINGFORMETOSAY! My Husband and I basically have a rule/tenant to not waste alcohol. But, I don’t believe these drinks had any alcohol in them, so we weren’t disobeying our personal code. All things considered, I have no plans to ever go back to this establishment.

I’m not sure about the whole menu because every time I go I get the tacos el carbone and the chips and salsa… MM Good. I tell myself I’m going to try new dishes but I can’t do it, the tacos call to me.

My night out and we choose«Juan Colorado»!!! As we arrived. were greeted then placed at a table fast, got are drinks. Then all went to hell!!! Brought the wrong food, so told the waiter and he took the food away. Within 5 mins was brought out the right food and we started in eating… Mine was horrible and friends was undercooked he said smell like shit!!! So we barely ate anything and went to leave on the drive home had to pull over side of the road to puke!!! Be warned I would not recommend this restaurant and if it was possible I wouldn’t give it one star! Waste of $ 20 bucks on the side of the road!!!

This place is so outrageously overpriced compared to local competitors it’s hilarious. Don’t come here if you want anything other than bland and dry, not at all authentic Mexican food.

Polite, friendly service. They were very prompt in getting our meals out. There was a mistake in mine(I ordered shredded beef and got chicken), and they were prompt in fixing it and very apologetic. They even wrapped the chicken dish to go for me, which I thought was very sweet of them. I found the dishes a little bland for my taste. The décor is cute and my son had fun playing«I spy,» but they are in need of updates. We are new to the area, so we are looking for«Our spot,» you know the one; the spot that you crave… that you can’t live without. Yeah, we’re still looking.

Cheap, fast and the service is nice. Other then that, the food is not very fresh, the food seems cheap(like the price) and not very thoughtfully put together. The sauces are watery and not flavorful. The interior is worn out, dusty and is need of redecorating. The lights still have forth of july decorations on them. Possibly they are just being patriotic? I would opt to go to Pepper’s down the street or Amela’s for mexican food in Hillsboro.

Can I give no stars? I still can’t believe how awful our experience was at this place. We went in on Cinco de Mayo. Place was busy– I gathered it would be. We were seated and given stale chips and salsa. We ordered our food and drinks in a pretty quick manor. That’s where the semi positive service ends. We sat and waited for over an hour for our food. We had to chase down a busboy to give us more chips. My husband waited 40 minutes for a soda refill. Our waiter went to every other table in our section multiple times and never once came and checked on us. My husband asked about our food after waiting 50 minutes and we were told it was coming. 15 minutes later it arrives to our table. My 14 month old son was getting antsy because he was so hungry. The food wasn’t great. The beans had a nasty film over them and I never once was asked if I wanted a refill. Again, our waiter was going to every other table and checking on them, laughing and joking around. The staff walked by our table every 30 – 60 seconds, could see our chips and sodas were empty and never once acknowledged us. I was fuming! I’ve never been treated so poorly at a restaurant. My family and I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. I would have gotten a quicker, better experience going to Taco Bell.

I have been going to this place for 6 years and yesterday was such a shock to me I am still dumbfounded… Walked in they checked my nieces I. D then walked away, not asking us if we would like a drink or water no chips nothing… So after about 5 min my sister got up and went back to the back asking if we could get drinks… Needless to say the waiter only got food for one of us even though we all ordered and not sure why he thought we were all going to share an avocado tostada… hmmmm well that was the last time

Inconsistent, bland, poor service and overpriced compared to neighboring restaurants(which happen to serve better food). Won’t be going back. My husband and I ordered fajitas and a margarita each. His were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned. Mine had no flavor and the veggies were poorly cooked(mushy and more steamed than that blackened grilled taste you want). Disappointing and very frustrating. Rice and beans were rather bland for both of us. Then we got the bill, and they had charged my husband for the upgraded tequila in his margarita when he ordered a regular one. Frankly the couple bucks wouldn’t have been a big deal if the rest of our experience had been good, but given the food quality having our bill messed up was not ok. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in the area with much better food and better service, that are comparably or better priced. Don’t bother with this place.

We love going to Juan Colorado. When you walk in the door you are greeted with enthusiasm and made to feel welcome, they are genuinely glad to see you. The great service continues throughout the meal. Very quick and thorough. They do everything possible to make your experience enjoyable. The food is very good too.

Nice chili verde burro, smothered in tasty white cheese. The green sauce is ladled over the burro, with an excellent appearance, and taste. Good hit the spot place.

Had a great night out planned, things changed and decided to go to Juan’s. The margaritas are no bueno. too sour. Had the deluxe burrito, I was a large tortilla filled with ground beef, topped with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream. Was really very Americanized, no beans, no sauce, onions etc. anything inside. Won’t order either again.

Date night with Wife N, but also decided to have Daughter N(16) tag along as well. We arrived to a reasonably full house at around 7:15, but they were still able to seat us almost immediately. The commensurate chips and salsa were delivered the second we sat down and we all started perusing the menu. Their salsa is middle-of-the road. Consistent, flavorful, but not overly spicy. We’ve been here, as well as several of their other locally-owned locations on a number of occasions and we always enjoy our visits. We started off with drinks – wife ordering this rummy-fruity concoction and I heading down Cerveza Way. Wife and daughter decided to order a combo fajita platter, which was plenty enough for two. At Mexican restaurants, I’m usually a big burrito or «combo plate o’ meat» guy, but for some reason tonight this Crab Enchilada dish really stood out. Sadly, I didn’t take note of the name but I’ll remember it for next time. They kept the waters filled and the chips coming while we waited for the food. The fajitas arrived with the expected sizzling fanfare on the cast-iron platter. My enchiladas arrived and they looked beautiful. The tastes were great. While this is Hillsboro, the food here isn’t terribly spicy. On the range of Mexican places, their food here lacks potent spicing, but that’s okay. Wife and Daughter don’t like spicy food anyway(so this was seen as a plus), and while I like spicy food, I’m also totally down with the milder-cheesier-creamier foods that are offered. My crab enchiladas were incredible. The crab was perfectly cooked, and plenty of it was distributed throughout. Fresh tomatoes and avocado slices on top, and the whole mess was covered with gooey jack cheese. Wife and I both agreed this was a great dish. Upon delivery it looked small-ish, but it’s pretty dense food, and this guy needed a to-go box as I couldn’t quite finish it, but didn’t want to give any up. It was as good reheated for breakfast this morning as it was last night. Service was excellent, with our water glasses never reaching less than ¼ full and plenty of swing-throughs by several wait-staff asking how everything was and whether we needed anything. Looking forward to our next visit.

No visit to Hillsboro is complete without a visit to JUANCOLORADO which has become a tradition for our family. I’m sure there are more amazing places out there for Mexican food but we’ve come to love this place because the staff is solid, the food is good and their Cadillac Margaritas go down so well after a long drive on the I-5. Located in a strip mall along the Tualatin Valley Highway, JUANCOLORADO is a family style Mexican joint that boasts a big menu of flavors and honestly out of all the times I’ve eaten there, I’ve enjoyed each of my meals. I find their Al Pastor(BBQ style pork) particularly enjoyable in a taco or burrito. I’ve had better Mexican food but the food here is enjoyable and as I said earlier, we eat here each time we come through Hillsboro — its tradition!!! You definitely want to order their«Cadillac Margaritas» though as they are a giant fishbowl filled with tequila-y goodness and one or two of these bad boys along with a fresh made burrito will have you smiling the rest of the evening. Nothing fancy just good food with good service. A-OK by me!
