Best salon– Helen has been cutting my hair for years. They continually do training and are up to date on latest /​greatest.
They have a cozy waiting room and chairs and couches outside of each area. Hot tea and coffee are always available and you will be greeted by Bella (Italian greyhound). Outstanding over all.

Amazing place! I managed to get a same-​day appointment and I couldn’t be happier! Prompt, great, and affordable service. I love my new hairstyle. I will definitely be returning. Chelsea did an amazing job! I gave her a vague description of what I had in mind for my hair, showed her an unfortunately somewhat blurry old picture, and she managed exactly what I wanted. They also gave me the address so I could donate my hair. I’m extremely pleased.

Let me start by saying, I’m not great with hair. Or makeup. In fact, until recently, I rarely did anything other than a pony tail and maybe, MAYBE eye shadow and coverup…
So I made an appointment with Kristen, who, by the way seemed so excited to work on my boring hair you would have thought I was that sexy chic in Modern Family! She started with a little change! Enough so that I can can still wear my ever comfortable pony tail, but made it simple enough that I can blow dry it in the morning and it actually has some shape! So I’ve been rockin’ my hair down like 70% of the time… Which is HUGE!
So post hair cut, she goes «Time for your flawless finish!» to which I said, «…Huh?!» apparently, they do a fun little makeup test run after the hair thing! So she did up my face and normally when people do my makeup, i feel like I’ve just been painted like the Mona Lisa… But nope! It was light and just enough color for me to look at myself and still recongnize me, but it really brightened up my eyes! and cheeks!
Now here’s the kicker… I bought some make-​up, she gave me the basics, and I’m using it!
I’ve got my monthly appointment coming up, and honestly, I’m thinking we make a bigger change with the hair AND… I might get some lip gloss!
Obviously, I recommend it!

I loved the haircut and really liked the stylist (Barbara) but didn’t enjoy the experience at this salon. There is nowhere to sit in the reception area so when I arrived, I had to awkwardly stand «in line» for quite a while as the receptionist worked with another client. I didn’t feel welcomed. On checkout, the products that were used on my hair were placed on the reception counter for purchase and I was asked if I would like to add a tip to the bill. I prefer more discretion. Haven has a nice website with lots of info but unfortunately, I just didn’t feel the warm and comforting atmosphere that is portrayed on the homepage.

I tried this based on a living social deal, and I’m so glad I did! I got my hair cut with Kristen and she did a great job. She was really friendly and knew exactly what to do with my hair. I have curly hair, and I’m always nervous about how my long, swooping bangs will turn out since they’ve been messed up by haircuts before, but she cut and styled them perfectly. I really loved how they turned out, and she explained to me exactly how she did it, so I could do it at home. The way she dried my hair was a little unusual (I had to lean off the back of the chair). I’m not sure if I was a big fan of that, but at least my hair turned out great.
Another positive: She did not try to sell me anything I didn’t want, and she didn’t criticize any of my own hair-​styling practices or the condition of my hair. I’ve been to a ton of other stylists who always seem to have some sort of snarky comment or well-​meaning «advice» about my hair or how I style it, so it was really great to not have to deal with that.
The décor of the salon is very chic and feminine and made me feel relaxed and right at home. I hear the owner’s dog is usually there, sorry to have missed that, but just another reason to come back!

I got a great haircut here. My hair is very difficult to manage and this salon did a great job. My stylist even gave me styling tips for daily maintenance of my hairdo.

I had my first appointment today with Helen, and it was fantastic. The salon is homey and the staff are lovely and friendly. Helen took the time to really listen to me about my hair and style, and had great ideas that captured the look I was hoping for, but didn’t know how to achieve. She took the time to meticulously create my cut and color, even staying well past the scheduled salon closing time to make sure it was perfect. I love my subtle color and the cut has great movement and life to it. It’s the happiest I’ve been with my hair in years — even my fiancé noticed the difference! In all, it was a fantastic experience, and I’m calling tomorrow to schedule my next appointment.

I have been going to Haven for over a year now and give the salon my highest ratings! Haven is upstairs from an art gallery in the strip of storefronts next to the police station. Everyone is very friendly (they also serve some awesome coffee and tea). Helen cuts my hair and the results are well worth the drive from Cary. As someone with curly hair, I’ve been on the receiving end of some really bad haircuts so I’m very picky about who does my hair. Helen has curly hair herself and understands the challenges of cutting this hair type. She is also a great help with maintaining the style between cuts.
Claudia does facial waxing and is very good. She has incredible patience and does a fantastic job.
Both Helen and Claudia take the time to listen to what you want done, make recommendations based on their experience, and the final result is always great! I find the prices very reasonable for the service you get. I would recommend calling ahead for an appointment.
This salon is a hidden gem in the greater Durham/​Chapel Hill/​Hillsborough and worth visiting. You won’t be disappointed!

I am a man who has a hard time finding someone I trust to cut my hair. But Helen is AWWSOME! Truly an Artist. I just got my hair cut there for the first time last week and the staff made me feel right at home as if I had been a client for years. Easy to find. Easy to park. It’s the place I’ll go back to every time.

I have been going to Helen (the owner of Haven Salon) for years. She’s great, and the salon is absolutely beautiful. It feels like a chic, hip «haven» in the middle of downtown Hillsborough. You are treated well here — Helen takes time before even washing you to look at your hair and figure out what you want out of the cut. Haven Salon has the most social «barber shop» feel of any salon I’ve ever been in – Helen has a great way of making all customers feel welcome, and the person getting their hair cut, the person waiting for their color to set, and the person waiting for their appointment all usually end up chatting. I have curly hair and have always felt like Helen (who has curly hair herself) understands curly hair better than any other hair stylist I’ve been too. I live in Hillsborough now, but I used to live in Chapel Hill and would travel the 25 minutes each way just for a hair cut by Helen. Highly recommended!
