We tried their ice cream at Food Truck Rodeo in Raleigh. We are huge fan of the Parlour(which they were at the event, too), but we decided to give them a try instead. We were pretty disappointed. The ice cream was a little too sweet for me. The flavor of the ice cream wasn’t transformed. We got hibiscus honey and nutella. The hibiscus honey didn’t taste like hibiscus. It does have a tiny hint of honey. The bad part about this ice cream is it actually has ice chips in it. I am not sure if that’s part of it or it’s a mistake. Needless to say, the nutella didn’t taste like nutella, just kinda chocolate and sweet. It didn’t have the famous hazelnut taste. Overall, it was very disappointing.

Tar Heel Creamery is a locally owned mobile food cart selling premium ice cream and sorbets. In going to one of the first food truck rodeos in Chapel Hill, there is Tar Heel Creamery selling hand over hand ice cream. Unfortunately they will run out of popular flavors quickly. I ordered a small cup of Espresso Cookie at $ 4.00. It was very smooth and I would order it again.

Ultra Premium Ice Cream Truth in advertising. Tar Heel Creamery is not exaggerating or fibbing with their claim of the ultimate ice cream. At the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo, I had the chance to have 2 scoops of Black Razz Chip, black raspberry ice cream with large square chocolate chips. Yummy! Very creamery with a super smooth texture providing a silky, luscious treat for your mouth. Sweet but not too sweet. The black raspberry flavored ice cream was perfectly matched to the sweet tart berries. There was a generous amount of chocolate chips. Delicious ice cream and I can’t wait to try more flavors.
