I was incredibly disappointed in this salon experience with Cathy. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and got the EXACT opposite. I was stunned into silence and will never go back to her.

Don’t know why I stay away so long-Robin always gives me exactly what I want! Went super short with my usual ouidad cut and I love it! She IS a beautician AND a magician!

I recently moved to hillsdale and was on the hunt for a new hair stylist. I tried beehive and was not impressed. Also tried moxie in ridgewood(you can find my review on their page… not good). Found a groupon for Robins and decided to give it a shot. Yessi gave me awesome color/highlights and a cut. I think I found my place! Will definitely be going back.

Got my hair cut by Yessi and she did an amazing job. I have thick short curly hair and she gave it an adorable shape and took out so much bulk, which is exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be coming back.

What a wonderful experience. I had a Groupon offer which I am so glad that I purchased. From the initial phone call to the first visit, everyone was very friendly and helpful. I was looking for a professional who could guide me with cut, color and highlights. Well, look no further, Yessi is excellent at what she does and has a lovely personality as well. I look forward to making Robin’s on Broadway my new home for hair care!

I was starting to become really unhappy with my hair. I’m a curly girl and once I see that I always have it pulled back, it’s time for change. I’ve been passing Robin’s daily for the past 2 years and always noticed that they were a Ouidad salon(for those of you not in the know Ouidad is secret code for curly girl experts) I decided to make an appointment. They set me up with Jill, who was by far one of the most professional and knowledgable stylists I have ever come across. Over the next two hours, she cut and colored my hair to a perfect shape. I’m so pleased!

I had gotten a groupon to this salon and went right before the July 4th weekend. I was assigned to Cathy who gave me a wonderful haircut. The reason why this salon lost a star may be picky — but it should be addressed in my opinion. The salon was going to be closed for the holiday weekend, so it seemed very much overcrowded(for which they apologized — but if you’re claustrophobic, beware.) It is an old converted home, very clean and very well kept. They also have great products(Aveda, Bumble and Bumble, etc.) My one really picky complaint is that when I walked in, every single employee had terrible looking hair. Like, really unkempt. Messy buns, overly frizzy, bad dye jobs… it just looked lazy. Like they all got ready for work in a rush. I just couldn’t believe that the owner wouldn’t demand a higher quality of upkeep for her own employees. Is that the image that you want your clients to see when you first walk into the salon? I work in cosmetic sales and I make sure that my face looks fresh every single time I’m on the sales floor(including touch ups throughout the day). Shouldn’t it be the same for those we trust with our locks? Lastly, I didn’t love the blow out that Cathy gave(nice and smooth but way too much volume), but I really came for the haircut anyway(which a few weeks out is holding up really well — she did a beautiful job.) Overall, it served its purpose but I left with mixed feelings. It has a nice homey vibe and the clients seem loyal. I think they could be a little bit more«posh» — starting from the ground up.

Came here with a groupon deal for a hair cut & Moroccan deep conditioning. I showed my hairdresser, Jessie a picture of the hairstyle that I want but just slightly longer overall. Overall she is pretty good. At the end of the cut I was told that I might not be seeing the length difference on the style that I’m looking for due to the curl end she put on blow drying. I went home with that for a night and still doesn’t see the style that I wanted after the curl end is gone. So I went back the next day and communicated my concerns and she had it fixed right away(she even took the effort to straighten my hair while redoing the cut). my overall experience is pretty ok. I would return again next time.

Unique salon! It looks like a country cottage house from the outside, and the inside is super cute. I visited with a groupon. They were able to fit me in last min. on a Sat, on Easter weekend, which I really appreciated. I had a trim, morrocan conditioning and blow out. Yessi was my stylist. She took exactly 2 inches off, which was what I asked for, and gave me a very nice blowout. The hair wash chairs are really nice here, like recliners. Most other salon hair wash chairs are massively uncomfy and cause neck strain. Not here. I’d return!

I have mixed feelings about Robin’s on Broadway. On one hand the cut I received looked great, but it wasn’t what I wanted and the stylist kept pushing me to cut my hair shorter. I eventually gave in and compromised on a 2in trim rather than 1in(I love my long hair) but she wanted to cut more off. The styling she did with the ends, bangs and face frame were wonderful, so maybe I should have let her do her thing, but I just couldn’t part with the extra length! She also was a bit rough with the brush, scraping my head and ears a few times as well as burning my head with the hair dryer so I have to say, proceed with caution if you go here, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results if you do. The actual salon is beautiful, its in an old victorian style house and gorgeous on the inside with bright colors and modern decorations.

Super expensive, my daughter went there to get her hair done for prom…$ 180.00 later came home with a few curls in her hair… they didn’t wash it, they didn’t dry it, they just simply put a few curls in her hair… are they out of their mind??? NEVERAGAIN!!!

Well, I never thought of even writing a review for Robins on Broadway because it was never a thought! However, I was looking through Unilocal and saw this review posted and could not disagree with it more in terms of service provided. I am a long time client of not only Robins on Broadway but the previous establishment many of the staff worked at previously. For the past 21 years I have been going to Lisa at Robins for my cut, color and style. Not only have I been a loyal customer but many people have gone to Lisa on my recommendation. Many liked my style so they wanted to go to the source as well! I was just at Robins last week and cut a cut color and blow dry… I walked out fabulous as I do every time Lisa touches my hair! Lisa is a professional will work with what you want and WILLNOT let you make a silly decision in regards to cut and color. The salon is great … a transformed house that is calm, and down to earth. There is no pretentious salon snobs to worry about. You come in and it is the Cheers of hair salons. Go make new friends over at Robins on Broadway! When you leave, you will look and feel fabulous!

I originally went to this salon because it was affiliated with Ouidad in the city which is a curly hair salon. What a lovely salon — I nearly passed by it because it is located in a house with a beautiful garden. Upon my arrival I was greeted by the owner and checked in. Everyone was very nice. The salon itself is pretty typical in appearance but warmly decorated with a big product selection. I started the day with a facial with Jill and was led to the tiniest room I’ve ever been in(it’s basically a closet) but it worked. The facial itself was nice and Jill was super friendly but it’s wasn’t as deep a cleansing as I am used to at a steep $ 85. You do get a hand and foot massage as well. Jill was amazing and she even gave me some product samples! I then got my hair blown out by Lisa who I was told could handle my curly hair and blow it our straight very well. She managed ok although she seemed annoyed at my hair at times, but did not really get the roots straight or make my hair look smooth and finished by the end. I have had better blow outs in the city at JSisters and Ouidad. It took almost two hours to finish my hair and I still needed to flat iron it when I got home because she only flat ironed the top when I was there because she had another client waiting. Kinda of a waste of $ 60. Overall this salon seems very nice but it is not ideal for getting curly hair blown out. I really like the friendliness of everyone and felt welcomed and taken care of while I was there often being offered drinks or a magazine! They take credit cards but be sure to bring cash for tips! Parking is easy because they have their own lot.
