Ah, Randy and his hot dogs. A hot dog slinger of the highest regard, who will regale you with hot dog stories and the meaning of life. A philosopher standing alongside a stainless steel cart. Served piping hot, he usually has several different varieties available and can cook them several different ways. He’ll chew your ear while you’re chewing your lunch. Shtick with sauerkraut. Easy parking. Fair prices, served under the shadow of Route 22.

Joint # 84: RANDYTHEHOTDOGGUY, Hillside, NJ. Randy The Hot Dog Guy aka Randy Pollack, is a round, middle-aged guy with a dad mustache and a wacky personality. His cart is parked at the front of the lot, a bunch of random signs, one classic that read ’ just say no to hamburger.’ RATING(S):… J. Diggity Dog: 7⁄10. Dog Man Sac: 6.5÷10. J. Diggity said, «Thumans, water dog. Bun was good. Chili, I think was canned. Red onion sauce — decent. I didn’t pick out too many flavors. Spicy mustard was spicy mustard. Overall, it was just a dog. Average to me. I’m going to have to go with a 7 on this one. It was just no spice, no bark… the only good thing is it had a little bit of crunch to it.» Dog Man said, «Randy The Hot Dog Guy — great guy, great personality, great mustache. Let’s be honest though folks… he’s got three choices of dogs which sounds really appealing. Dirty water, you may not know, but we like that usually(that preparation). It just didn’t have it today. It was not for us… no. Potato bun, good. Dog… not so hot. The flavor not there. Missing the chili(canned). I didn’t taste much onion… I guess we had the onion sauce on there. I’m a 6.5 — I’m going low on this one folks.» ***for more hot dog reviews, please LIKE us at or

Randy takes the act of serving hot dogs from his cart to culinary art. He has three hot dogs to choose from, thumans, spicy sabrett, and best. All served on a potato roll. Randy has multiple toppings available but has a suggested combination depending on your dog. For example a thumans with cheese and spicy sauce. He is a great guy that was fun to chat with. Excellent job chef.

My boyfriend and I drive by Randy’s ALL the time. We finally tried him out yesterday, and oh my gosh was it delish! We both got a hotdog and a soda. It was a Sabrett hotdog with those amazing Sabrett onions. But enough about the amazing hotdogs. Randy was a really nice guy. I will absolutely be back and give him my business. EDIT: so were no longer in the area but if we ever are again, Randy is the first place we will go.
