We got the Coconut crusted prawn pizza. Had to finance the extra large. It was $ 30. They call 16″ extra large. Where i grew up in Brooklyn we just call that a pizza. Well it wasn’t Brooklyn pizza but it was good not great but good. For the price I expected great.

Service great as Noah very effortful and friendly for our large party order. All happy with tasty pizza varieties then abundant wings. Able to feed 30 large appetites for about $ 10 per head. Well worth the bill.

Stayed at the Kileuea Military Camp about 45 minutes away from Hilo, but the pizza here was so worth the drive! Excellent pizza, friendly and quiet outdoor atmosphere and friendly service. Go local and support.

I picked up a pizza here during one of our tired nights in Hilo to take to our hotel and eat. The service was very friendly both on the phone and in person and made it a pleasant overall experience. The food was ok– we got the spinach pesto pizza and the pepperolly rolls. The rolls were pretty tasty, the pizza was mediocre. I wouldn’t plan on going back, but it got the job done when we needed some quick easy pizza and it was nice to meet a friendly face in Hilo.

This is actually one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had the privledge of stuffing down my gullet. I have no idea how our sleepy little Hilo town managed to corral such a fine specimen of savory delights. If you skip the pepperollies you are a fool and a poor judge of gastronomy and we have no business with each other. Nota bene: if your taste is only for thin crust pizza then perhaps seek your fare elsewhere.

I had the ranch turkey sandwich and it was ok. We also shared a couple of different pizzas and it was the same… just ok. The BBQ wings were a little sweet and a little spicy. The wings were also on the smaller side and they were ok.

Delicious pizza! Their crust is light, crispy and not too chewy. Perfect topping to cheese to crust ratio. We topped off our meal with a slice of homemade cheesecake which was absolutely divine!

Whenever we are in Hilo my husband always wants to go to Big Island Pizza. I LOVE pizza, but being celiac, I end up only getting to eat the gluten free pizzas I make for myself at home. But they made a great special order substitute: crustless pizza(not actually on their menu), which allowed me to select from one of their many specialty pizza combinations! Noah came out from the kitchen to talk to me about what they could make for me so that I could still enjoy their pizza. They served the«toppings»(portabella mushrooms, roasted onions, roasted garlic, rosemary, basil) on aluminum foil(doubles to prevent gluten contamination), topped with pizza sauce and the cheeses(mozzarella, fontina, goat cheese, and parmesan) It was great!

Highly recommended. Pepperolly is amazing. Ruben sandwich is good too. They have their own parking lot. Plenty of outside seating. They don’t have a soda fountain but most people are probably getting take out anyway.

I didn’t really care for the pizza here. Crust taste like cardboard. Maybe cardboard taste better.

Can I just say I am addicted to their pizza! Whenever I’m in the mood for pizza Big Island is the only option for me. I usually get the Baja and an order of Garlic Knots. The Baja is amazing! The Shrimp, Rosemary, and white sauce is a combination that is to die for! Another awesome feature of this business is they offer FREE delivery within a 6(or 8, can’t remember) mile parameter. How cool is that?! Every other pizza place charges an arm and a leg. Perfect for those lazy days! I deducted a star for two reasons… First off, although the garlic knots are hot, gooey, and flavorful I wish they served some type of sauce with them.(I.e. Ranch, Marinara, or some kind of house sauce). That would put them over the top delicious. Secondly, the staff is a little off… don’t get me wrong, they are very friendly, just not real professional. They all seem quite«high» if you know what I mean. When you call to phone in an order for the first time it’s a bit of an extended process with getting your phone number, address, order, etc. I typically place my order, hang up the phone, and pray it’s correct. If you go in to place your order or pick up your order you will definitely notice they don’t have an organized system in place. It seems pretty chaotic in the kitchen. Overall, this place is AWESOME! A few bumps here and there but in the end they serve up food that is on point and that’s all that matters in the end! Best pizza in Hilo ;)

I moved back to the Island a few months ago. This pizza is superb. We had the Big Island pizza and it was delivered fast and it was AMAZING!!! I don’t mean«amazing» as in just for our island in the middle of nowhere. I mean AMAZING like I would put it against some of the greatest I have eaten in Sherman Oaks, Atlanta, and Seattle. I can assure you my hubs and I have found our«go-to» place when we have both worked hard and need a treat! The toppings were fresh, the sauce was tangy and superb. The dough, well, it was mind blowing! We just programmed the address and phone number in our phones so we can grab it to go if we ever need to.

My nice wanted pizza while I was visitng in Hilo. So we picked up from Big Island Pizza. Had a piece of the Big Island special. It was quite good. I only got one piece, since I had to leave to pick someone up soon after we got the pizza home. But I would try it again. Maybe a little expensive, but maybe that’s partly because I couldn’t eat another piece! LOL. Crust was thin, and not too soggy, with a crisp edge. Will have to try it again the next time I am in town. Depends on how my wallet is feeling. Only take out or delivery, no where to eat there.

On the road again, and it was now time for lunch… Since I’ve been on Unilocal,I make it appoint to always try and eat at a new place, so I can share my experiences with my Unilocal buddies. While in Hilo today… I’ve drove past this pizza joint many times, so today was the day to check this place out. Big Island Pizza was the place of choice today. A small little store in the downtown Hilo area, there is no parking so you will have to do the street parking thing. Also this place is more geared for take out, although there are a few outdoor tables adjacent to the store. I walked in the store feeling in the pizza mood, so I ordered myself a standard mini pepperoni & mushroom pizza. Don’t know why I like this combination so much, but it’s one of my favorites! They do offer other things here like sandwiches, salads, chickens wings, & wraps too. But I just stuck with the pizza. What can I say about the grub — Well, the pizza was okay… but nothing of the wow factor for me. It was a bit pricey too at $ 8.84 for a mini pizza. After eating my pizza, I was still hungry, so I had to stop by Lanky’s Bakery for a custard donut, then Poke As You Like for a few Spam Musubi’s…yeah, I know I’m a pig, but hey man… I just gotta be me! Lol! Service was a wee bit slow — but I suspect they probably make the pizza fresh as you order it, so it’s understandable… but I was the only dude in the joint when I walked in… Maybe they had a lot of phone orders… who knows? Overall, it was just okay… I can go to my beloved La Pizza Rina and eat the same type of pizza for way less in cost, yet they would pack the pizza with more toppings, but I do realize I’m in Hilo & not Oahu…

Pizza was good however I can’t believe they don’t use fresh ingredients. The damn farmers market is right down the street. I had a pepperoni pizza with pineapples and yes this place used CANNED pineapples… Disgraceful. Especially since the price of a pie is too expensive to be using canned fruits.

I wish you could give a zero stars rating. I am so amazed at the lack of customer service and just common courtesy this place lacks. There is a HUGE difference between the management and employees at this location versus the Big Island Pizza in Kona. Where is your sense of aloha? Maybe you guys need to spend a day at your Kona location. This review is solely based on service because even if this pizza were the best pizza in the world with ambrosial like qualities, we still would not return. To briefly summarize a bad experience: After ordering a large amount of food for take out(over $ 100 worth), they did not provide bags to put the food in and did not offer any help to bring it out to the car, so after having some difficulty taking it all out to the car, of course several of the boxes toppled over and food ended up on the floor. The employees noticed the incident and did not offer to replace the food that was dropped, and not only that, but even offering to pay for another order, they explained I wasn’t able to use my credit card because there was a minimum amount to be spent for credit card charges! I just spent over $ 100 on the original order! After attempting to speak to a manager, no one was willing to apologize or give any kind of compensation. Don’t come here! Service is some of the worst I’ve ever experienced!

When the mood for pizza should strike you, Big Island Pizza offers a respectable offering and serves up a pretty good slice of pizza. The service is good and prices are reasonable, however the flavors are simply ok. The menu features some interesting combinations and of course the staples you would come to expect. Pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, salads, of other appetizers. We stuck to pizza on our most recent visit and opted for the Big Island Pizza. You can’t go wrong with the pizza named after the establishment right? Well it was a nice balance of meat and veggies with a good amount of pepperoni, italian sausage, ham, peppers, onions, olives, and cheese. The flavors were good and the crust was nicely dry so that it could standup to the weight of the toppings, while not be crusty like a cracker. Service was good and our pizza was served up in a reasonable amount of time. The wait times could get long since quality does take time. Probably call ahead if you don’t want to wait. Parking is available in the back and there appeared to be a loading zone out front if you plan to just grab and go. Prices aren’t as cheap as mass pizza places like Pizza Hut, but still rather reasonable. All in all, it didn’t truly wow or impress, however at the same time it didn’t disappoint.
