Cute small town restaurant. Staff is super nice and friendly. Cost is pretty pricey for the really small portions given. Not your typically prepared style of food– slightly below average taste. Good desert selection. Not really my type but can’t complain since it’s located in a small town.

I do love Hana Hou and have spent way too much money here. The prices are just too high… If you want Polynesian jewelry and vintage Hawaiian dresses this is a good place to gander through

This is one of the very few shops in Hilo I find R worth returning to. No junky Hawaiian chatchka here. Photos here don’t do this shop justice at all. The store is well-organized and displayed with many smaller items worth viewing. The owner is extremely knowledgable about jewelry and Hawaiian vintage items(and an expert re-stringer of necklaces). She’s curated a small but elite collection of Hawaiian vintage clothing, house wears(such as Pyrex-like serving dishes with Hawaiian fauna beautifully etched in the glass), vintage signs, and other unique finds. I purchased the most beautiful small hand-painted lacquered box with a waterfall on it. She also has uniquely-sourced non-vintage items like beautiful woven rugs, a coral necklace a local girl dives for and carves, etc. Currently Hanu Hou has the most incredible private collection of vintage Niihau necklaces on consignment. Things I’ve never seen before ever — like this photo I’ve added. The store collection is high-end but not unreasonably priced, and the owner is filled with aloha, friendly as ever.

This store has really nice products. However, the old lady working there had the worst customer service!!! I never ever get anything there.

5 stars for the service. Fantastic young woman working the store did everything she could do for me with a pleasant attitude, energy, and smile. They have some nice products…(high-end think Niihau) shell jewelry, clothing for women and men, body products, an emphasis on locally made or polynesian products. I’m not giving them 5 stars though, because they struck out twice for me… the shirt I wanted was sold-out in my size, and the shampoo I wanted was not in stock, although they had many other products from that locally made«Ola» bath products line. I did buy another product to try, just because I liked the salesperson.

Cute original items from local craftsman, boutique quality dresses, nice unique Hawaiian Men’s shirts, pretty unique jewelry and really neat purses made out of coffee bags. Small hole in the wall with class.

Attractive and unusual(if $$) jewelry and Hawaiian-style women’s clothing fills this serene boutique. Definitely a step up from the average touristy shop along the same strip.

One of the many small boutiques along the Hilo watefront district. What actually drew me into this store was a sign. It was actually a sign that I had been wondering about for some time. It was the«Kino’s Used Furniture» sign. Kino refers to my great-uncle who used to have a long time business in downtown Hilo. Always interested in family history, I wondered where it went since I heard it had been sold to a local business owner. I was passing by and glanced into the shop and there it was! Anyway, this store is a nice little boutique that has all kinds of local clothing, jewelery, and accessories. Mostly geared toward the ladies, they also carry classic men’s aloha shirts which are located to to rear of the store. The sales people were nice enough to let me take a picture of my great-uncle’s sign and even told us that they had been in there earlier that day. Funny, since they said that they haven’t seen them in quite some time. Parking is all along the Hilo storefront area.

Right on the main drag in old town Hilo, this artsy store was the only other place on the island that I found the hair scrunchies I love to wear. The clothing and purses were hand made, so expect to pay more, but quality appeared good.
