Hilo Bike Hub

I shopped around online quite a bit hoping to find a «deal» as I do for most things. In the end I decided to «shop local» and found the Hilo Bike Hub to be one of those places that got me into mountain biking way back when. They are your friendly local bike shop with very knowledgeable staff and still do their best to work with you on a budget. I’ve gotten quite a few compliments on my Specialized MTB and even got a free tune-​up once I broke the bike in. Though I need to head back over there soon and get more recommendations for cool rides in the Hilo area. Mahalo guys!

The Bike Hub embodies the best reason for going to local businesses: excellent personal service. I walked into the shop and asked for a «low-​commitment bike» to practice biking for a biking-​hiking-​kayaking tour of New Zealand later in the year. (I hadn’t ridden a bike in decades.) But the owner, Chris Seymour, gave me the same level of attention he’d give someone in for a top-​of-​the-​line bike. He had me try out a bike after adjusting it exactly to my size, height, leg length, position, helped me ride it around the parking lot. He had me try on shoes and helmets, etc. Meanwhile the shop was busy and he managed to keep other customers happy, too. I eventually bought a much nicer bike from him a week later. The Trek bike was the same price from him that it was online – but I didn’t pay for shipping as I’d have to for the online. The shop has very good bike accessories and togs, also well-​priced. And a great friendly, very neat, cheerful ambience. This is the place to go for all bike-​related purchases and service.

This place made my trip to Hawaii so much more awesome! Several people around Hilo recommended talking to Chis when I asked about bike rides on the Big Island and they were right. Chris and his happy crew will hook you up with so much bike aloha that you may never leave the islands! Next time I visit Hawaii, I’m going directly to Hilo!

In my opinion Hilo Bike Hub is the only place in Hilo to purchase a new bike or bike accessories. I purchases three bikes from them over the past few years, and I haven’t been disappointed.
They carry the best brands like: Trek, Specialized, and Cannondale. They also have all of the newest accessories you need for your next bike ride. Chris is very knowledgeable, and is willing to take the time to help you find the right bike for you. If anything is wrong with the bike, or if you just need it tuned up he will fix it. He doesn’t push you to buy anything, not like some of the other shops in town!
Although the shop is small, they are able to carry a wide variety of products in their store. If they don’t have what your looking for, they will order it for you.
